Sublime
Windrow's "The Last Valley"- excellent book on Dien Bien Phu -mentions this character several times. anyone got any good info on him? What a life from what I know he was in the Grossdeustchland (this is what Im really interested in, besides what happened after Dien Bien Phu) and ended up in the FFL. So after years in Indochina Bleyer is a senior NCO at DBP, involved in some of the heaviest fighting, and near sole survivor of one of the hill outposts, not once, but a few times. He pops up a few times in the book, always with a note that he whipped troops into shape, improved cover, and theres a couple notable episodes where the French counterattack, assuming everyone in a strongpoint is dead and find Sergeant Bleyer with a few shocked survivors blazing away from a last dugout. Anyone?
