Question about sound contacts in buildings

I'm playing a PBEM game in the beta demo, and in the most recent turn I had a couple of sound contacts in buildings. The thing was, the walls didn't disappear to show them. I only noticed them becuase when I scaled up the units (and was far away from the buildings) their heads poked out. When I got close to the buildings, even at high scaling, you couldn't see the units at all (though you could select them). Is this a beta bug or a design decision?

Sound contacts appear randomly within a radius around the actual position of the "heard" enemy unit. Occasionally this can lead to the marker being in a house or even off-map. You could even see a sound contact tank drive through a house (I have). But I'm not sure if there is a way to fix this.
