Jump wings
I recently bought CMBO: Special Edition and am having a little trouble when the game starts. If I let it run I get the little CDV intro and then it stalls. I read that it may have something to do with my PC not having QuickTime to view the intro movie. I tried holding down the "Spacebar" as it says to do in the manual but this does not work. If I press "Escape" to take me back to the desktop and then click on the CMBO icon on the toolbar it comes back to the correct screen and I can play without any further difficulties. Anybody have ideas???
Len
Shouldn't that be "hold down the Shift key" to bypass the intro? Regards, Len
Schrullenhaft
CMBO:SE is a CDV product. It doesn't have a QuickTime intro/splash, but an .AVI movie that possibly uses the Indeo codec (which is no longer free). I'm not sure, but I believe that the "holding the Shift key down during launch" routine DOESN'T disable the splash screen in this version of the game. If you're in the mood to experiment, you could look for an .AVI movie (I believe that is the file format) in the root directory of where CMBO:SE is installed and move or delete it. With it gone, the game may skip attempting to play the file or it may hang (I don't know which it will do).
Panzertruppe
I have both the Battlefront and the CDV version of the game.....I have not seen a movie like the one on the Battlefront version with the CDV version. Could this be due to the new terrain graphics that are with the CDV version?
Madmatt
The CDV AVI movie is located in the AVI folder at the root of the CMBO folder. You can simply delete the entire folder or just the movie file inside without harm and the game will launch normally, it will not hang. The Retail version of CMBO does NOT have the intro that came with the Battlefront.com version. Madmatt
