Entirely unserious. No wonder Macron is getting more heated rhetorically, at some point this becomes meaningless.

Fun fact: you can also use a Mig-21 to drop a nuke.

Of course Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons of any kind due to that Memorandum which they signed in 1994.

Don't know about everyone else but I'm at the point when I hear those silly Moscovites employ this kind of ridiculous rhetoric regarding a specific system, I'm less worried and more convinced that we are doing something right.

Just shows that they are worried about the introduction of F-16s to the battlefield.

  2. Lets not go down the path of even suggesting that Ukraine is not worthy of our support if they do not have the same level of LGBT rights as North America or some parts of to use a Rumsfeldian phrase, some parts of "Old Europe" have.

Personally I hope LGBT rights will improve in Ukraine because I believe what consenting adults do is their own bushiness.

But if a country like Italy still has a long way to go which I'm sure most people here know was a founding member of the EU and NATO, lets not get hung up on this issue while Ukraine is literally fighting a war for its survival.

On a side note I had no idea Montenegro was so LGBT friendly until I looked at this map.

  3. While I'm sure it is tempting to see this guy's posting as some sort of April Fools prank or maybe some kid with to much time on his hands trying to "troll" us. Perhaps a paid Russian troll?

The reality is going by the fact that he registered on this forum before 9/11 even happened, he is likely a grown man who has accepted the Kremlin's propaganda as truth.

This is a scary thought but not surprising for me given how many seemingly normal people I've seen on social media who are now parroting the Kremlin's line.

While Russia's military machine leaves a lot to be desired for the Russians, I think their psychological operations like the infamous troll factories are maybe more effective than we care to think about.

A good reminder of how important it is to counter the Kremlin's lies with the truth no matter how we can.

Cheap-thing-takes-out-expensive-thing is not exactly a fresh hot take. Kipling was writing about that well over a hundred years ago.

I think some people still don't quite get how important drones will be for the future of warfare. I'm guessing Euan focused on the dollar figure in his recap of Arthur's thread because money is what most people understand. We are seeing some exciting naval history be made on the Black Sea thanks to drones. 🙂

Lets be honest after all this time we are still kinda impressed when we see Ukraine take out expensive RU stuff with cheap drones and disappointed when RU can do the same with expensive Ukrainian stuff. No matter how many times we see it.

This would make fantastic mini-series if done right, which current Hollywood naturally won't be able to do. Especially Proxy Foxy episode seems interesting.

But hey, lately Lukaszenko is in the "Swagging villain from 60-ies" mood that Putin can only try to mimick, so maybe he could be main antagonist:

He was named Alexander Lukashenko. The World will remember him by another name...POTATOFACE. 😄

  6. I'm of the opinion that we will see much more attacks like this carried out by angry ethnic and religious minorities who have a beef with Moscow and Russia in general in the future. I maintain my position that I will see parts of the Russian Federation break off in my lifetime.

I am curious how much longer can the Kremlin keep blaming The United States, Ukraine or the damn Smoking Man from the X-Files. Until it becomes obvious to Russians that these terrorist attacks are really conducted by groups that have nothing to do with the West, and big daddy Putin is not as all powerful all knowing and all seeing as he wants people to think he is.

If I was Putin ( what an unpleasant thought) I would try to play down the radical Islamic angle of this attack right now.

I imagine that with the stresses that this war has already put on Russian society, increased tensions between Muslims and Christians in Russia are the last thing he wants or needs right now. Putin of all people should remember how dangerous that can be for Russia from his experiences in the 90s and early 2000s.

These exports are having close to zero importance for the war. All the fuss about it is due to fact that this grain feeds no small part of the World, so everyone are trying to help with that to avoid another humanitarian crisis.

Feel the need to jump in here.

Thank you very much to everyone who participated in this discussion, it helped me form a more informed opinion on the unfortunate topic at hand. I feel everyone made some valid points in this obviously contentious discussion.

Anyway, the quote I highlighted I would like some clarification on. I was under the impression that the grain exports do play a role in the war effort. I think grain is one of Ukraine’s most important exports. I’m not sure how much of Ukraine’s overall GDP is going for the war effort but since Ukraine is fighting a war for its survival, I am sure that it is a lot. I imagine that money is going on not just ammo and guns but things like salaries for servicemen and some benefits for the families of fallen AFU members.

    The Trump Effect?

    Europe is upping its game...

    Long may it last...

I truly hope Ukraine can hold on and the aid truly arrives in time.

Maybe Macron was inspired by watching Ridley Scott's Napoleon? 🙂

But seriously, I really like this new Macron.

I have to once again agree with Estonia's beautiful Prime Minster.  Even if NATO does not put any troops on the ground, that does not mean we should tell the Russians that it cannot happen in the future.

Today, we have a new military support package for our soldiers from the Netherlands. By the way, the Netherlands is actively helping us with air defense, with the F-16 coalition. This year, new fighters will be in our skies, and this year we have to make it an effective one in defending ourselves against Russian guided bombs, Russian aircraft, and missiles.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Air Force Commander Oleshchuk, and Defense Minister Umerov held a special military briefing for Mark Rutte on the situation at the front, on our capabilities in active operations and defense in specific areas. Of course, we also talked about Kharkiv. I am grateful for the readiness of the Netherlands to continue to help. This is a really strong visit today. I am grateful to Mark personally and to all the people of the Netherlands for their support of Ukraine.

The key thing is that Russia has to lose. And our country, our partners, must restore security. We are doing everything for this. And I thank everyone who helps!

    Glory to Ukraine!

    Good news. 🇺🇦🤝🇳🇱

David Sacks is a toxic gnome, a bad poker player, a hanger on to Elon Musk and a Peter Thiel intimate with whom at Stanford he wrote that rape was typically really just “belated regret”. He’s always run in their slipstream and acts as their errrand boy, cheerleader and fixer. These days, he’s most firmly tied to Musk who has numerous financial and legal entanglements that would be very much served with a Trump win in November. So, Sacks is doing his best to support Musk’s Trumpian line. That’s really all there is to it.

Thank you for the explanation Bill, makes sense that he stands to gain something form this. I don't think a public figure would spend so much time promoting the narrative of a genocidal regime, that is increasingly hostile towards his country. Well Wikipedia says David was born in South Africa, but I'm sure he has his U.S. citizenship by now. If he had nothing to gain from it personally.

I don't follow politics as much as you but my money is on Biden winning in November anyway.

He seems to have overlooked the fact that Russia also shipped vital weapons off to Ukraine and is in more far worse shape today than it was before the war in Ukraine.

Not to get into boring details but I work in tech myself (Sorry I'm not an awesome fighter pilot/lawyer in real life 🙃 ) so I may have some perspective on this. Tech can be a very cutthroat sector and while the industry leaders who succeed in it are not always moral (David is a great example) they are in my experience rarely stupid.

I bet David knows what he is pushing is nonsense and he is smart enough to understand how poorly this war has been going for Russia. His intention is to do what he can to make support for Ukraine less popular. Unfortunately he seems to be friends with Elon who is giving him a platform for spreading his disinformation.

This is why I'm grateful for the folks in NAFO, for spending their free time calling this Sack of **** out.

  12. Alright, can someone explain what exactly David's "game" is?

I already know why other members of Putin's cheerleader squad do what they do ( Ritter,Seagal,Tucker). I looked David up on Wikipedia and he seems like some tech entrepreneur. Interestingly enough in the past he has donated money to Mitt Romney's and Hillary Clinton's campaigns, not two names that I imagine are very popular in the Kremlin.

Why is he so busy pushing the Russian propaganda right now? Is he just bored and enjoys being an edgy contrarian? Unlikely

Is he making money from this? More likely but I do not want to accuse anyone without evidence, even this scumbag.

and I apologize for making you look at his face again my friends.
