I don't share these issues with you on a 9600k. I wonder how the single core performance compares, especially with mine overclocked. I know it wasn't until the 5xxx series of CPUs where they took over in single core performance

I benched mine this evening and it is overperforming the average and is sitting just slightly higher than the average i9 9900k, apparently.
Assuming this is non overclocked i9s though could be a mixture of the two. no idea. this was just through cpu-z built in basic bench test. :)

  2. I have a Ryzen 3700x with a Nvidia rtx2070super gpu. I would say amd cpus compete very well to same gen intel and at times even surpass though thats a complicated subject with loads of variables.

CMCW performs terribly for me on larger scale deployment zones. Like... terribly terrible! It smooths out once you are passed the deployment phase but I cannot even get to that point in some scenarios unfortunately.

Basically, until the series sees significant performance improvements it wont really matter what spec your rig is, it will still underperform. Stay away from AMD GPUs though, there are forums and steam discussions everywhere right now about driver issues after updates causing all kinds of chaos. Very unstable by the sounds of it

  3. Hello folks,

I am tip-toe'ing very carefully into this minefield but I have to ask...

    Can anybody tell me if there are the following functions in CM currently (if not it would be great to have them :) );

1- Ability to cycle through unit's issued waypoints/commands. Without having to click on them. To expand on this a little, it can be a real faff at times, especially with the waypoint markers requiring that you click very precisely on them to select them, I find much of my time is spent playing camera man. A nicer feature would be to allow the user to cycle to the waypoint and then use, say, the middle mouse button to drag it around for fine tuning as opposed to trying to select it from the other end of the map and consequently deselecting the unit by not clicking directly on the command marker... *groan*

2- Ability to have unit/vehicle follow another unit/vehicle in convoy or formation... Seems like an obvious one and again, if it already exists please forgive my ignorance and be so kind as to point me to the nearest vein of knowledge

That's all currently, and it is more due to the fact that I have not played in a few months that I am noticing these little niggles more but I do feel that a lot of time is wasted in-game on things which could be a lot smoother and user friendly and without the need for a great deal of work I presume.

The convoy one is a big one for me, really hope there is a way to do that and I just haven't noticed! 😅

    Cheers

That earliest negative review almost certainly suffers from the laptop problem where the actual GPU is not used and integrated graphics are in effect until you set it in NVidia preferences. BFC should make more of an effort to prevent that.

Not necessarily. I am experiencing horrible frame drops and my rig is, if anything, more than capable and configured correctly. Elvis and I have been back and forth on the issue but cant get to the bottom of it. The fact that not everybody experiences this issue tells me there may be issues with the game engine and how it communicates with certain hardware configurations...possibly. The telltale sign is that my cpu and gpu are only being 15-20% utilized but the frames plummet anyway. It is certainly unusual. There are so many things it could be but it probably boils down to the fact that the engine has been dragged through the ringer for so long with updates being applied etc. It is certainly the larger maps that the issues become more noticeable so I wonder if CMCW is just pushing the engine a little close to it's limits.

Hopefully we will get some new blood that does stick around but they also probably would have gotten bored quickly if we had made it more gamey.

CMCW is my first ever CM purchase having toyed with the various demos on and off for years. I had experience as a youth from way back in the day when CM1 appeared but I just couldn't wrap my head around the depth of the modern titles. Finally, CW arrived and it was just stinking of Operation Flashpoint vibes so I buckled up and took the plunge and it has really paid off. Will be adding to my collection for sure. Have already learned so so much

Close but no cigar - it is called something Rumpus - or more accurately Rumpenheim Rumpus - it is one of mine and I didn't know that it was the biggest one in the title.  I should stop overachieving 😉

lol certainly the largest standalone battle on the list...so far :P

If you're playing/launching via Steam, be sure to turn off the Steam overlay. That made a significant difference for me.

ok will give that a try though IIRC it was an issue on standalone too. Thanks

EDIT: No unfortunately it is still as bad with or without the steam overlay. thanks anyway for the suggestion

There were only 14 reviews that count (not from keys), of which only 9 were positive. The 5 negative ones only had 2 written ones, so we don't know what the other 3 people were complaining about.

Makes it hard to defend the fort.

You are right enough, just had a look and it only weighs in the 15 steam purchases even though there are over 40 reviews from all avenues. Bad voodoo that. 🙄

Did you try turning them back on?  Maybe the GPU wants the work?  (What I don’t know about GPUs…)

Yeah man, trying everything under the sun right now but no joy. It is something I have seen in other titles when there are a large amount of particles to render though in that case the gpu utilization is through the roof whereas here there is absolutely no pressure on my cpu OR gpu... really difficult to pin point

  10. Issue seems to be linked to the blue deployment zone texture and only lags when you are viewing it across an area wider than half of the map. If you pan at ground level from one side of the map toward the other, the lag ceases once you cross close to the centre line. Very odd

Last item of note is that due to my switching to steam recently the game is running on Balanced settings and AA off which isway below what i can usually run the game at.

My norm is a tad below max settings for larger engagements

  11. Just now, The_Capt said:

The only other thing I have heard is AA as an issue for some.  You should definitely contact BFCElvis on this on the support thread.

Ok, I will continue playing about with different settings and see if i can get to the bottom of it and if not I will send him a DM asking to have a look.

    Thanks you

  12. Also, looking at the NV performance overlay, gpu and cpu utilization barely go above 15% but fps swings anywhere from 95+ to as low as 10 or less in a matter of seconds.

Mainly when rotating camera up/down (ctrl + m.wheel)...

Looking up at skybox fps is 115 and render latency at 3.5ms but when you level it out and look straight ahead again it drops to 10fps and 50ms before creeping slowly back up into the 40's.

Not great, not sure if it is memory leaks or something?

Reviews by people who register via a key don't seem to count for the top level view, though. Only reviews from people paying to Steam.

    🤨Much corruption!

Still it will get the total number of positives up and bring the overall review score to "mostly positive"

  14. 11 minutes ago, The_Capt said:

Oh, and the default setup will get you through the scenario.  Not optimal in the least but you will be on a strong enough footing to win that scenario.  We would much prefer to get to the bottom of this (seemingly) random lag issue for some players though.

Well I checked my Nvidia CP and the program was not auto-detected in there so, while it was running on my gpu, it was most likely running on "Optimal Power" mode instead of "Prefer Optimal Performance" mode as per my NVCP defaults. Played with some settings in there but it is still lagging out. Have ensured it is in administrator mode too as an older post indicated this was an issue

  15. So the steam reviews so far are "Mixed".

I have been playing on standalone but have switched to Steam so was able to leave a positive review. I would ask anybody else who is enjoying standalone to consider at least playing the steam copy for an hour or so in order to leave a positive review and support the devs over in that area as much of the negativity seems to be pretty petty and unfair.

    Thank ya 😎

Is it during the setup phase? If the map has a really big setup zone and you point the camera at it it will demolish your FPS no matter your system for some reason, once you actually press start it should go away.

Yeah it is, though I cannot get my units deployed correctly before it hits this constant wall of lag. Absolutely terrible experience. I have been holding off on this mission until I was up for the challenge and now I can't play it 😕 Well I can but I have no idea if the default deployment is any good or not and I would rather not risk it.

I have even tried turning off trees, shadows and shaders etc. and still no good. The only thing I can think of is running it in 800x600 res lol

  17. I am playing through my US 1979 campaign and upon reaching the Neuhof mission I can't continue due to the severe lag I am experiencing.

It glitches out for 30 seconds at a time and I am not exactly on a lightweight rig either to be honest. Ryzen 3700x, RTX2070s, 32GB DDR4 3200MHZ.

The only thing I can consider is the HDD install instead of SSD but surely that only affects load in times and not processing once map has loaded?

Anyways, Is this something which you folks simply live with or is this a CM:CW specific issue which will be addressed asap?

    It is really concerning.
