  1. Well some of them will take German uniforms and play the role of the opposing force during the next drill in the evening. I have a feeling, that just a tea will not be enough. They better find some schnapps
  2. Yeah maybe they were happy those tanks didn't shoot back, so a bit of rough driving wasn't something they would moan about i guess
  3. I went through all the demos too, especially for Normandy, where i tried 2 different game engine versions in the last 2-3 years before i finally bought the game. Now i enjoy the real beginnings
  4. Basic Training Campaign - Mission 2 finally done. The game's volume should be louder and i used the game's built-in movie filter. What do you guys think?
  5. Thanks for the input. I'll definitely tune it next time. TBH i wasn't completely sure about it
  6. I don't think i'm a bad dude really I just like the way the difficulty is done in this game. It's not about cheating AI. I think the hardest part will be artillery timing. And the only difference between Elite and Iron is really just in that you need to see your friendlies, which i find actually more useful in the end.
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome! I read about the Iron difficulty before and i choosed it even for the tutorial campaign, just to get used to it. Thanks for the suggestion! I see this thread is being busy and i don't want to turn it into something else so i will continue my journey in the game specific section of the forum here -
  8. Hello everyone, i'm Zloba and i bought the CMBN Big Bundle just a few days ago, after being on the fence for the last 2-3 years. Thanks again to everyone who helped me decide. While playing the first tutorial campaign i thought it would be cool to make something different. So i'll be using this thread as some sort of journal where i want to share my experience with the game. So here goes my 1st attempt on a Combat Mission game video. I'm open to suggestions on how to do it better next time. Feel free to leave comments here or directly under the video itself. And i hope you enjoy it at least a little.
  9. @chuckdykeCorrect me if i'm wrong, but you can drive infantry on your tanks in RT no matter if you have the upgrade to version 4 of the engine or not. RT was the first CM game released on Engine 3 and infantry driving on tanks was feature of that game right from it's release AFAIK.
  10. @BornGinger I whish i could play it all day and night really, so far so good and i like it. But it wouldn't be me if i won't make things more complicated. I got an idea of a semi-story driven video. I've finished the Basic Training just a few minutes ago. Now i need to edit all the footage and give it some life. Hope it will be worth the time Oh and that topic was already recommended by @RepsolCBR, got it bookmarked. But thanks!
  11. The link provided with the ReadMe PDF file didn't work. This one does. Thank you! Edit: I think the link provided with the ReadMe file is incorrect. I just removed "#" at the end of "battlefront.sharefile.com/share" and it worked also. Maybe i should contact Battlefront and let them know.
  12. It might be sooner than you think actually. After i'm finished with the tutorial campaings i'll have a look on the Battle Drill Tactical Problems, where i saw some PBEM scenarios. And i'm really looking forward to it. Thanks, i've been warned but already pushed the button. Game is installed. Well i really hope it will take a loong time before i do as i don't want to buy bundles every month Ok guys, thanks again for helping me out with my decision. Gonna do some training drills and i'll be back when i have some report to do. Zloba out
  13. Nevermind, i'm pretty sure i'll do it tomorrow. Need to get some sleep, before i open the Pandora box
  14. CMBN Big Bundle is in the cart. If i select "Download only" i will able to download everything including engine + game manual and the additional extra content shipped with Battle Pack 1, right?
  15. This is the video i've watched yesterday and he covered FI at the end of the video, which i skipped as i thought CM Afghanistan was the last game he would go through. Btw. I've already watched several of his videos and they were always mega-helpful. Great channel
  16. I think you're both right. Who am i trying to fool? If i knew i won't be playing CM for a long time i wouldn't be here in the first place. When i look into my Steam library i'm coming back for years to my most played games every now and then and it will be no different with CM. 1200 hours in Post Scriptum and 550 hours in Company of Heroes 2. I think it's safe to say i won't regret buying any of the CM games or even bundles. So now i'll focus on the important thing, that's in the topic of this thread - starting small. I've just watched SmartWargames's guide to CM campaigns. It confirmed what you guys said about RT and FB. The campaigns are on the bigger scale compared to BN. Shame he hasn't covered FI. I'll look into it tomorow and maybe finaly decide. Thanks again for helping me
  17. Yes, this is the information i need from you guys. OK, so let's say RT campaigns or overall settings and formations in the battles are battalion-sized in general. So how do the othe 3 WWII CM titles compare in terms of size of the army which you control on the average (without taking Quick battles into account?)
  18. TBH guys you've answered my original question to the smallest detail. Thanks everyone for their input. This is not the first time i'm trying Combat Mission games (probably the 3rd one i guess), but this time i'm serious and that's why i decided to join the community and ask "personally". Heirloom_Tomato and BornGinger might think i won't regret my purchase and logically i would assume the same thing as i'm already enjoying the demos in a different way than year or two before. But after spending lots of money on other titles with which i was dissapointed in the past few weeks, just trying to find the one that would scratch that itch of mine ... considering that if i knew what i know now, i could spent that money on my 4 months newborn child ... it's starting to be very complicated and hard for me to justify the money Battlefront is asking for their "games". $60 for every base game and another $35 for additional modules. Yes, i'm enjoying the demos and i think they've finally grew up on me (or vice versa?) .. but who knows if i won't be sick of the games in the next 3-4 weeks? Seems like i won't but who knows what comes? $60 = every WWII title. Which one? Well if i want to be honest ... Red Thunder. If i would want to get the most content for the money ... should i pay another 30 or 50 bucks for additional content? Would i be able to play it now (1-2 months)? Well i don't know .. that's why i came here
  19. Well, you guys are very kind with your input, but the more i read and listen, the more unsure i am about which title to get again F&R module in a few weeks you say? Hm .. i might aswell stick with the 4 demos and then get it with RT in a bundle? But i just checked one of the R&B threads and they said "soon" on February 2020. You sure about the "few weeks"?
  20. I have already bookmarked a long list of tutorials and some of them had the time to watch already (including those two above). Great source of info. From what i remember the Tactical Problems were some custom scenario which i coudln't play in the demo obviously. But i'll give it a shot with the full game, thanks for reminding me. And the C2 thread is very interesting, love it, thanks! I was actually thinking about that but Red Thunder is somewhat more appealing to me than Final Blitzkrieg (i just like T34's i guess ). But i'm pretty sure i'll be modding the game and in that regard BN looks like the best option (?). Btw. anybody knows how to filter mods on the fewgoodmen site? For example what if i want to sort them by the most downloaded? Is it possible?
  21. Hm, ok then. I think the sentence on the store page is a bit misleading.
  22. Yeah but the engine manual doesn't cover game specific training missions which i was planning to play. Nevermind, i'll save those which comes with the demos, even if they aren't up-to-date.
  23. Something i noticed on the store page for FI, RT and FB: I'm pretty sure all the demos comes with game specific manuals. Do the full games really have only engine manual shipped with them? And does the BN Big Bundle cost $110 regurarly, or is it some sort of winter sale (looking on the $160 which i'm not sure if it indicates the normal price or if it's there just to see the difference between full price of every module bought separately). And thanks everyone again for being so helpful. I would like all your comments but the forum just doesn't let me to do it
  24. Just to be sure - there is currently no timed offer for the CMBN right? The $160 price tag is there to remind me how much i would pay if i bought everything separately? I just want to make sure i'll be using the additional content if i buy it so i want to look around a for bit longer before i decide, but i don't want to miss any good deals at the same time .. that would be a pitty
  25. Thanks everyone for the input, it helped a ton! So to sum it up: - all games have some training tutorial missions which i can follow while reading the manual - all games have the ability to create custom Quick Battles with custom maps and forces - scenarios can be sorted by their size in all games - CMBN Big Bundle has the best price/content value Looking at the Big Bundle ... 110 EUR .. wow .. never paid for a "game" that much .. ever .. are the DLC's worth it? Do they add a campaign or is it about single scenarios? What about the units? Are they added to the original campaigns somehow or just to the DLC scenarios? Should i go for the units if i plan to use mods? Do most of the mods require the DLC's?
