  1. Thank you again Andrew for your intensive effort in solving this problem.

Slitherine support has replied to my ticket, they wanted to know which scenarios and opponent the rounds have. I would really appreciate that they can fix it, but more important is, will it happen again and again, and what the problem exactly was.

  2. Alby I am glad that your problem has been solved, but your post has nothing to do with my topic.

In the meantime, three PBEM++ games cannot be continued because the game crashes without a message on WIndows, the file is defective, my opponent has the same problem with another round of ours, we currently have five. three of them are apparently defective.

If the files are on a slitherine server, is there a way to get them?

So the problem is with the file the system sent. The errors are in a round that was only 5 turns old as well as a round that already has 175 turns. So totally random.

    Windows gives this message:

Name of the faulty application: CM Red Thunder.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, timestamp: 0x6470f61d

Slitherine offers PBEM++ support via their site only for Cold war, at least that is  the only combat mission game in their list, and their support never replies to my tickets.

How do you beat this one?
This is a significant difficulty bump from mission 1 and 2. In this mission I have neither advantage in fire power nor space to manuver.
The forward observer which is supposed to be on the field from the start does not appear, so the opening 10 minutes I only have two mortar batteries plus 8 extremely unrealiable cluster bombs which are very ineffective on bradleys. I'm playing on elite so I can only get the real fire missions going after 10(1 company arrives) + 5(time to get the observers into place, when they are not deleted by bradleys) + 12-16 minutes to actually call down the fire missions. My fire plan simply do not exist so my other plans have no chance of succeeding

I can clear some enemy positions after much casualty and fighting with RNG but any bradley position in a wooded area will block me enough to kill momentum and get the btrs clustered. Not mentioning the surprise that comes into play at 25 min mark which I can't counter nor hide from if I am forcing myself to play blind. When the infantry ATGMs arrive it is already too late.

I am wondering if the design here is to just force the player to surrender and take the losses and move onto the next mission. The attack was shattered and the russians chose somewhere else to attack. Makes perfect sense to me but on the other hand I have no skills at CM. Could anyone please provide some tips on how to reliably beat this without savescumming or using hindsight?

Hello, you should update your campaign. It got reworked. You have two Aircrafts for CAS, the two mortars, Cluster and a heavy artillery asset from the beginning. With two FOs, one as air controller.

That video is from me, the cluster bombs are annoying, but they come in more frequently only at the end, surely it is bad luck, as in my video when your AD does not shoot down the US Aircraft. There are only four firing positions, placing ATGMs there will deal with every problem you come along.

I played the scenario some month ago again for the march or die playthrough, all fine, annoying how less damage the artillery sometimes only deals.

By the way, what is RNG ? (Not a native English speaker)

    Greetings

    Interesting.

When did you play it, M.H.?

    Perhaps something changed with v2.11?

As it stands I have no freedom of movement at all on the map - the HTs spot and destroy anything that moves into their 'normal' line of sight, despite the conditions (snow blizzard, night), and I can't spot them unless I'm right on top of them. By which point I'm dead.

version 2.11 thats for sure, mid last december.

Part of the reason why the second mission of Night at the Opera fell flat for me, especially after how epic the first mission was. The Reichstag and Brandenburg gate really deserved custom models.

Ah, I forgot the "Brandenburger bridge". 😄

  6. Not only because I am German, I have to mention that the model of the Reichstag is an appalling insult to the eye. As if it hadn't been damaged enough in 1945, battlefront gave it its death blow. Sure, with the modular building blocks it is probably quite difficult to replicate. But that is really beside the point. All the campaigns are very beautifully designed.

  7. Hello,

Since a few days I have a issue with the display of the grounds, have deleted all mods, reinstalled, problem persists.

On the three screenshots you can see once with the problems in the display, it's like smeared, overlaid or something like that, then a screenshot with movie-mode where the floor appears normal, and picture number three shows the display before the problems. I use a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.

    Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks for the attention.

    Kind Regards

  8. First of all, thank you very much for your answer. @ The_Capt

I should have phrased my question more precisely.  I meant theoretically only the transport (hitchhiking) of infantry on armored combat vehicles. Not the special form of a combined attack of infantry and tanks that was carried out specifically by subunits selected, equipped and trained for this purpose. You clarified this as well.

Regarding the scenario of the Cold War, I could add that, for example, in the manuals of the eastern german army NVA, this tactic is not mentioned at all (to my knowledge).

And Modern Russian instructions explicitly forbid "riding" on armored vehicles for obvious reasons.

  9. Good day,

first of all best regards to the campaign developers, I am currently completing the "Pebble in my shoes" mission of the "Ride of the 120th" campaign.

I noticed that I haven't had high losses from infantry mounted on tanks for a long time. Not due to a rising learning curve, but because it is not possible to mount tanks at all.

Is this a deliberate decision of the developers?

    Sincerely,

    M.H.
