Are we seeing too much tropical uniforms in CMFI. Should they be wearing more field grey for Army and maybe some more splinter smocks for falschirm.

Many tropical uniforms, or mixed parts of them, were used together with feldgrau pieces by germans on Sicily and South Italy, you can see it in contemporary pictures. Sure that when the front will move to the north in next module, the uniforms will be more and more similar to the France and Eastern Front uniforms.
While it is true that there are too many tropical boots for my liking. This shoes were more common in North Afrika than in Italy, where was more frequently to use ankle boots (with or whitout gaiters).

Now that all of the Upgrade 4 stuff is out of the way, especially the Italian stuff, we are now full attention on Rome to Victory until it is done.  A couple of months for sure, almost all of which are scenario creating, balancing, and rebalancing.  The rest of the stuff (models, textures, and even the TO&E) is pretty much good to go.

    Steve

Well, it looks like that we should wait two months more at least for play Rome to Victory module. I think that I can wait (not, really it will be so hard). Steve, do you have plans for a  pre-order, publishing the game manual or release a demo as happened in BS and FB?

    Thanks.

  3. BF has confirmed that next module will go on sale ending 2017 or early 2018.
I was wondering which do you think that will be the period covered by next module? From September' 44 to Winter'45? Or will it covered all the time frame to the war ending?

If we ask nicely maybe BFC could include updated uniforms for the previous formations in the release of the next (last) module for CMFI...

That would be a nice supprise ! :)

Great idea!, but I'm sure that BF will update the uniforms to the standard quality which is visible in FB. After update to 4.0 engine, you can see in quick battle  much more options that before for uniforms (but not selectable yet).
My two cents that in  'Rome to Victory' we'll can select uniforms tropical, camo or 'continental', for the same troops types and, for sure, with higher quality.

I really hope the HG gets oakleaf smocks and white collar tabs in the new update. They're wearing Field Division uniforms right now in Italy!

I'm agree with you. I believe that next update we'll receive thousand of new uniforms options and updates for those which are ingame. I'm wondering if germans will receive M44 uniform now that game will expand the timeframe to end of war.

I think that might depend on a number of factors including anticipated demand. Demand has usually been high for West Front products, less so for East Front. I know that there are fans of the East Front who are quite passionate about it, but apparently their numbers are not great these days, in contrast with 35-45 years ago when you couldn't stir them with a stick.

Maybe you're right and FB will have its first module soon because is a very popular tittle. But Steve answered in other post that next  module will be for FI, and then, for RT ending this year or starting 2018. It is for this that I don't believe that BF be launching the Commowealth module before at least Spring'18 or Summer'18.

P.D. I'd like to play with the next module as soon as tomorrow ;).

The beta team its still recovering from shell shock from beating that TO&E into submission :-)   (Note that I'm specifically not giving any kind of answer to the question   :-)  )

I don't believe that the tester team continue in shock for the TO&E rework. IMO I believe that all the work done is an advantage now for release the module soon. Also, BF team is working on it since one year and half ago, in 2015 Xmas bone, ChrisND spoke officially about the project for first time, and the work had started little time before. After this, in Summer'16 they gave us news, the team was very busy working on TO&E's. (http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119457-beyond-gustav-line/?page=2)
Here (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=19156.0) we can read that FI module will be release short time after BS battle pack, wich was launched last Friday. For all these evidences, I suspect that the wait won't be very long, but always the official info is welcome.

No announcement for ETA yet, but it is the next thing that we will release.

    Steve

Nice to hear that Steve. Now, I hope that you can to clear my doubts.  I'm not asking for an exact ETA, but can you tell us if the work is mostly done, or on the other hand,  BF team will need a few months for do finish it?
Will it have a preorder,  or will it be directly put for purchase in the shop?

    Thanks.

  9. I'm sure next module will be big. Maybe CW forces be very similar to CMBN, adding latest vehicles versions, but I think in matters such as LW forces, Volkssturm, M26 Persings, LVT (for crossing the Rhin), maybe the early night vision system for german forces  and new scenaries as Ruhr, Remagen, etc. IMO all these are very greats additions.

For me, the only disappoint is that probably we'll need  wait long time for it. CMFB was released in 2016, I don't believe that we are going to see the first module in one year and half ot two at least, because RT was released in 2014 ant it hasn't yet a single module.

    Thanks!

The key problem is that CMFI covers a huge amount of time.  That means a lot of equipment phasing in and out.  With the extension of the time period (Rome to Victory) this has become an even longer stretch.  Add to this peculiarities specific to the Italian front which differ from other fronts.  The original CMFI TO&E was not designed to handle this sort of stress, if you will.  Gustav Line was a brute force way around some of the problems, which wasn't pretty on our end of things.  We subsequently made significant changes to the game code to handle things better (which CMBN, CMFB, and CMRT will all benefit from), but those changes couldn't be retroactive to the existing CMFI/GL TO&E with the wave of a magic wand.  Hence 3+ months of reworking of the TO&E :D

This is an example of where wargame customers and wargame makers sometimes find themselves having different perspectives.  Making lists of what is what might seem easy and straight forward, but it isn't :D  Especially when the TO&E database has grown to include several hundred thousands of pieces of data.  Any one of which can rain on someone's parade.  Yeah, it's a monster.

    Steve

Great news Steve, and thanks at you and your team for your hard work, I'm waiting for upload FI to 4.0v since December, but I'm little confused, is this meaning that next module will come together with upgrade? (It would be really great).

My guess is that the 4.0 engine upgrade for FI will be launched together with a module.

This would be wonderful and a good cause to delay the FI upgrade. The engine is so similar to the others games that I don't understand yet the reasons for it. But, on the other hand, I wan't to have to much espectatives if, finally, 4.0 update is coming alone.
In two or three weeks we'll have the solution (crossing fingers for a pack update+module)

I thought Steve had alluded to a New year bone from Chris, possibly tomorrow or shortly there after.

Great!!! Really I'd like to have some news about the modules which are in the pipeline for 2017 and, specially, on the next FI module, but where did Steve say that?

But it is now. After tonight there should be some bones left...:)

I really would like to hear what we can expect in the coming year.

Totally agree with you, I wished more deep info about next modules but, at least, Steve said that BF's boys will release modules for 4 families in 2017. It is the same info that in 2016, but I'm sure that  we will have new modules now, they have been working on it for one long year.

I also would love to see a Combat Mission Fulda Gap. I love Flashpoint Campaigns Red Strom and would really be interested in Battlefronts take at the era.

You could also have different Opfor Troops like the eastern Germans, the Czech or the Polish. On the Bluefor side you could have the British, West Germans and Dutch/Belgian even the French. Some of the assets are already in some of the games when it comes to the armored vehicles.

It's a great idea, really BF has a great stuff about the period since there are games such as Shock Force and Afghanistan. Another option could be to update these games to the current standard. But if it not happend, make a new family based on all the material done would be a great solution for offer to the period fans or who don't love to play with very high tech toys, but wants to leave back the WW2.
Personally I like all the BF tittles, every one of them has self taste and a lovely work on details. This boys always achieve surprising us.

  15. Chris started to talk about it in the last Xmas bone, one year ago. A few months later, Chris returned with news when he finished to upload the TO&E for 10th Mountain Division. Since that moment no more news. As you said, there are to much posibilities that Gothic Line come early in 2017, but this is not oficial. I'd wait for more news in next Christmas bone, we only need to wait two weeks more ;D
