    Hans chuckles under his breath.  He doesn't much care for Rolf.  Those smart clowns from Berlin...they think their flatulence smells like roses.

    Nice cliff hanger.  Screen shots are great.  I really like the fog effect.

    Ahm..., Heinrich505, a neighbor of mine reported precisely an incident like that in 1945, the poor guy behind the weapon was badly burned and died later.

    +1 to the screenshots, they look much better now. In addition, I have the impression that the shadows are less intensive now, which is perfectly right. I just have that diffuse and foggy kind of winter lighting here - no noticeable shadows from trees, houses or fenceposts. Just bushes and vehicles have a diffuse shadow directly underneath. But it might be too much effort to tweak all this in relation to the lighting - and shadows are always helpful to determine the depth of an object in the scene.

  3. Been lurking the whole time. These AARs are like the ancient battles in Hollywood movies where the combatants charge at each other screaming then hack at each other for a while. Fun to watch but not much to analyze ;)

    +1, still standing at the sideline watching and enjoying it. Go Baneman, go!

  4. There is a minor bug visible in this video at 1:55:00. When the camera is low, some icons turn the forest behind transparent, so the sky is visible there instead of the icon content. Maybe it is known already, just in case.

    Great presentation, I am deeply impressed by the awsome texture work visible - the uniforms, the trees, vehicle details, and the houses. all great. Up to now, I bought CM because it is a fine simulation, but more and more I love the visuals and often enjoy just repeating some impressive in game footage.

    @LukeFF: he announced an extension to CM:FI, more nations, i.e. Brazilians, New Zealanders, and some more. I think more scenarios, also.

  5. MikeyD: If you're interested in art you'll only find the 'cool' late war German camou in CMFB. I had joked earlier that I've been waiting for five years for 'late war' to finally arrive!

    I totally agree, there were so many interesting camo patterns and I cannot wait to see them in CMFB. Great work!

    With your Hetzer I had a deja vu and looked it up in a book of Jean Restayn, very similar. There is even a Jagdpanther with a strange square shaped Zimmerit coating.

  6. Good idea. Will do. Basing a map on real elevation changes and terrain features is very hard to replicate. Too bad Google Earth doesn't include topographical contours (yet at least). It would make map making even more of a delight. I know there are work arounds, but still.

  7. ...I'm finding overall on my PC the shadows are very dark, overly so. Could be mods I use or the way my PC is calibrated via my graphics card. Still give me an hour and I'll post some screens.

    Wow, looking great. I like the look- sometimes like a photo or even nicer than real life. But I agree to GeorgeMC, the shadows are too dark. It is something disturbing me since CMBN. On a sunny day, there is a lot of scattered light, also. This brightens surfaces in the shadow allowing details to be seen. I just happen to be in Abu Dhabi, bright sunlight and I can see each detail on such surfaces. At your first post here, 4th picture, the dark halftrack in front of the dark house is nearly invisible. I know that shadows are used tactically to avoid to be seen, but this is too much - just my opinion.

  8. Since some time I am reading this forum with much interest and play CM since the CMBO days. This is the most informative thread so far and I have deep respect for the knowledge displayed here. Thank you all.

    Concerning terrain VL I think, that a scenario can be set up and played like a chess game (CMFI has some), but for me, there is much more fun, when a good briefing gives it an operational context and a PURPOSE and that perfectly fits to a terrain objective.

    Imagine, your battalion has the order to block a road to close a huge pocket filled with enemy forces. The objective is not to neutralize the last enemy formation between you and the road, rather to find a bypass or an efficient way through this formation.

    The objective is the road in operational context. I enjoy objectives with purpose.
