  1. New patch! New Patch! Cant wait for download. So excited. Hope its got some LOS tweeks.
  2. Yes I agree "borg spotting" is absolutely unrealistic. Self contradiction? Purposefull? Anyhow I agree that FOW and spotting are a fun part of the game. I just wish it was more logicly programed so that close at hand armored cars wouldnt be invisible. As for my definition of Invisible please refer to the previous post. I agree that there may be a link to the way the game is played to how realistic it is percieved. I play exclusively single player vs AI turn based. I love to watch the replays over and over. Perhaps thats why CM2's flaws bug me more? I see them more. Also over and over again. Still waiting on the patches.
  3. Yes if you are not alert you are dead in vehicle combat. I remember CMbb1 senario "cracking the egg". It had soviet assault guns cresting a hill over looking a town with concealed AT guns. The Pak guns picking them off as soon as they show is the 80% first spot kill type. Not CM2's roll of the dice in head to head spotting. In the air Luftwaffe pilots commented on early soviet pilots never turning their heads to look behind them. The key word is (behind). A tank in a nonviewable area that cannot be seen is concealed. A tank in a viewable area that cannot be seen is invisible. Concealment = realistic Invisibility = unrealistic Like CM2 just waiting for the patches to make it more playable/ realistic.
  4. Can you see the two invisible armored cars? Guess where their hiding? Thats right. In front of the destroyed armored car! How does he not see the engine running car that should block LOS to the silent dead one? Forgot to mention his orders are to pop smoke. He decides to give buddy aid instead. He dies a few moments later after throwing away his smoke grenade into an open field (probably to block the gophers LOS to his impending death) . Don't incourage me to get down there with a trouper eye view to see the details, CAUSE ILL DO IT! Still frustrated with the supposed realism. Come on patches, need me some patches.
  5. Invisible tanks just bother me. I wish there was a (?) indicator or somthing if it was concealed. I think even if there was no light i would hear the tank or feel the ground shake (before I walked into it) If a wall doesn't conceal within a certian distance neither should smoke. Am I a new number or does my complaint fall under a previous number?
  6. What type am I? I played the CMAK first then CMBB couldnt get CMBO to run correctly too old for my PC my guess. Loved CMAK and CMBB. Loved the scale. Loved the closeness to table top miniature gaming. Love turns equal 1 min of replay to watch over and over. Loved planing my simple strategy then watching my simple strategy succede or fail. Loved learning from old mistakes and understanding how to avoid them again. With all that love imagine how excited I was to find out a new version had come out! I missed it, I thought WWII CM was dead with the cancellation of CM campaigns. I played the demo excitedly. New interface ok to learn had a basic working knowlege built throught the first few demo senarios THEN WHAM!!! (Linking up and breaking out) senario as German defender. First time through saw what the AI was doing and their composition after much casulties and mistakes I restarted with new plan of defence. This failed to work. too many variables to completely stop a 2 sided attack from a vastly superior force (tried to 3 times). So new tactic ambush to slow down allied attack so I can flee. I then started to notice things the old game would have told me i couldnt do with the interface before I watched in horror the slaughter of my men. Example CMBB in a panzerschrek ambush from a side street in a town. LOS shows me if I have a good cover armor arch and the range and the penatrative qualities on the side armor of a tank about to drive by. It would let me know if i could fire from a building as well. I used this tactic a lot worked pretty well. Example CMBN in a Panzerschrek ambush from a side street in a town. No LOS. No cover armor arch. How far away for range unsure. "Target" seemes to show if terrain blocks LOS of the team but not the rocket itself. Vague penatrative chart on (enemy) tank only, so no real idea. Fire Schrek in a building "Nien sis we caunt do". Only way to find that out is too late when they open up with Kar98s in the building that offers no cover (another suprise) disasterous. Another comicly bad thing happened in this example. The schrek fired on an armored car on the oppisite side of the street emerging from smoke and hit a different (invisible) armored car that exploded directly on top of them. How could they see the further one if the nearer one was blocking LOS? The team promptly ran from the dead unseen armored car. Running down the smoke clouded street bumping into and pathing around 3 other (invisible) armored cars. They cowered into the river that was covered by EVERYTHING enemy and inevetably...... So im a bit frustrated that these unrealistic, illogical, nonsencecal things happen. Please tell me theres a patch? I have many more examples of similar. Perhaps specific how to's? Or what not to's? Perhaps just LOS tool?
