  1. Not sure where exactly to put this, so apologies if this is mis-posted.

Is there a way of extracting your key from your install of SF and/or it's Modules, Normandy and/or it's modules? I know I have been able to do it with other games in the past, with or without 3rd party applications. And I am pretty sure I have done it with every non-dos or enterprise installs of Windows, as well as other apps.

  2. How can CMBO be considered the peak of realism of squad level combat when the squads were abstracted. A 1:1 ratio is sort of a pre-req to be considered realistic IMO.. If you were talking about armor, you might have a case, but trying to argue that infantry combat is superior is a stretch (again)IMHO.

That being said, I am struggling to get out of the second mission. It seems MUCH harder than vanilla, which in turn was MUCH harder than any Shock Force module. This jump, to me, is harder than the jump from Marines to Brits.

IDK if it's just me, but I am legitimately scared of snipers...for the first time in any of the CMx2 releases to date.

  3. How did you approach mission 3 (on iPad ATM, can't check)?

It's still night and your racing ahead to exploit the breach, expecting to face a nrpew force plus remnants from the previous mission?

    ******spoiler******

I believe it's a ME, as it's the first time troops are coming at you. There is a bridge in the middle pf the map and they are supported by tanks.

I couldn't figure out where the best place to meet them is. Any hints would be appreciated.

  4. Does anyone have a cut and paste set of gentlemans rules for a PBEM game? Also is there a fan site for PBEM guys who can do 5-7 turns a week, more on some days? I play PBEM with one guy and he is a total mope.

IDK what the rules would be cept no setup bombarding and perhaps limiting scouts. Scouts isn't a huge deal as there is a price you pay IMHO, but ya can't think of many.

  5. Welcome to the fight!

#2 TRPs are like fixed placements but can be positioned anywhere on the battlefield. You get to place them at deployment.

And this forum (and SF) are a wealth of info. (minus the insult hurling peng threads which are amusing) High five :)

Edit: the interface may be a bit of a shock. There are a few of normandy related AARs now on YouTube, that may ease the transition.

  6. Aye. It's not every time mind you.

I am not sure if it happens with Germans, which don't have a 3rd fire team. If it does, my theory is wrong.

Main reason I thought it had to do with 3 fire teams is I have yet to see it fail when I split the parent unit, and issue orders for all 3 teams to merge at a single action spot.

I have a save I made when the issue prompted me to come to the forums. When I am done with the mission I currently am on I'll post SS.

  7. On map mortar teams can be resupplied via ammo bearers, and IIRC from another thread, Mortar halftracks carry extra ammo.

You have to be pretty vigilant about on map mortars, as you found out they can go dry pretty quickly if left unchecked.

One way to slow them down is use the target light command (again, info from another thread).

Off-map mortars work as other Arty. In campaigns, often times arty is shared with other formations in your AO. The briefings aren't always good about letting you know. This leaves you slinging shells that you need in the next mission.
