  1. Hmm, well, i still believe that having the option to pre-order a DL only version is not really necessary. The drawback of not having it is minimal for both parties involved (customers & BFC). The advantage of having it would also be minimal for both. It is up BFC to decide if letting people pre-order a DL version is worth the effort.

Well let me put it this way.I'm unemployed at the moment but i had put money aside for MG.Now i've noticed another WW2 main game that was cheap and there's a wad of cheap DLC campaigns. So i was tempted and now hooked. Now it will be a while before i can buy MG.Now if i'd have had that DL choice..............................catch my drift.

Yes i'm only one customer sure enough but how does that saying go-"For the want of a nail, the Kingdom was lost"

  2. What would be the point of pre-ordering the DL only version? Seriously, i mean, the purpose of pre-ordering the mail delivered version is clear: this way you can have it as soon as its released and dont have to wait more than necessary. But the download version? You can just buy it on the day its released and then DL it within 5 mins.

I see you completely missed the point

Most games today you can pre-order for a digital release without perks attached.BF simply don't.

Pre-ordering to get the disc isn't worth it outside of the States. It takes weeks to arrive and you end up paying through the nose for the privilage.

Why pre-order?I see a preview of a game i fancy owning,i'll buy it upfront.I know what i'm getting with CM so usually a preview isn't needed.I might not have the money in future or could be out of work(like now.money set aside already for MG).Good for me and few bucks into BFs coffers before the release.

And as i said,i can wait for the release no problem. It would be nice to have the option of a pre-order.You can with nearly all other digital release franchises. Why not this one.

  3. Okay i wasn't going to ask for this but why not.Any chance of just getting a 'download only' option for pre-ordering.This will mainly be for us European customers of course.Due to the usual Import tax BS by our respective governments the price of the game can double if we have to have the disc sent by mail.

Now i'm usually quite happy to wait for the game to become available by the normal timeline so it's not a serious issue with me.Surely though it would be good for BF and customers alike,if we had the option for a 'download only' pre-order.I'm sure i had the option to 'download only' way back with 'Shockforce' when it first came out.I could be wrong there of course.

    Anyway,this is just a simple request,not a complaint.I'll be purchasing come what may,regardless.

And on a side note.Hurry up with the module will you :D

  4. For 'Aquire' your guys have to be in a vehicle that has stuff.Actually in Marines most Troop Transports do.For 'Hide' you normally add this at the end of a waypoint line.Give your guys a waypoint, click the line and it'll light up and then press the 'Hide' button.Your guys will then move and hide when finished moving.Alternatively just click the button where they are and they'll go in crouch mode, again the button should light up.

If you can't do those above bud for any reason. You've got a corrupt download.Re-install(see your other thread :))

  5. Actually Schrullenhaft has posted all the details you need to know.Follow that step by step.Do a totally fresh install from scratch, have everything from the Game launcher, and all the patches you need ready(everything is in his post) and then do it one step at time.It shouldn't take long.I have all the modules and it takes less than 20 mins from downloads to patching.ONE FINAL POINT-before you start installing anything, turn off your Anti-virus until the final install is finished.(AVG used to hate my Brits module and caused crashes galore ingame-i no longer use it).Turn it back on when youre done.

You should be good to go.Have fun bud ;)

  6. Oh well i was about bud.If the main guys don't get back to you in time(i believe they're well busy) drop me a PM and we'll go through some stuff bud.It won't be the game,it's just patches have to be installed in order and right boxes ticked etc. Then there can be anti-virus issues with certain modules(again it's the AV software not the game) and if you have issues with an install-always restart a clean fresh install(without mods installed or old data in the main file etc).

  7. The orange circle next to save games,is part of the upgrade. Before you couldn't delete saves from within the game, now you can.The upgrade isn't a patch either bud,it added features which weren't initially part of the engine.Better more effective MGs,graphical tweaks, save deletions,a few customer requested features etc etc. With the upgrade the new features might not seem a lot but they do make a hell of a difference to gameplay.

    There's a 2.01 patch to add to the upgrade,so don't forget about that.Have fun bud ;)

P.S. v2.10 will be Market Garden,it's not available patch wise, upgrade wise or module wise. It'll come as Market Garden.

  8. Don't take anything as gospel as far as trees are concerned in the game.I think they are more an abstraction of woods and foliage rather than what you see is what you get.

An example is infantry in woods, yup you can see a unit in the woods but no LOS then again is it a sound you've heard. To be on the safe side i blind fire anyway.I do the same with tanks in bocage or woods i get a glimpse or sound of something i fire anyway. The AI no doubt does the same at times.Sometimes you land lucky othertimes it's you who gets it,as you've gave your position away.

And just to add.One thing i've learnt from Bill Hs AARs is,i don't move vehicles until i know exactly what they'll be facing.I'd rather lose a few scouts than any armour. If you get surprised on the battlefield, you've already lost the initiative. You can't blame LOS because of bad scouting. That's not to say the LOS is perfect in the game.I've had my own frustrating issues with it but it can be worked around.

  9. I'll try not to spoil this too much for you. There's still a surprise or two once you reach the top.Don't worry about the units you've bypassed.Just take and hold the hill. There's an area behind it ,take and hold that and that area to your left as you look back down the hill.Hold those three and you should just scrape a win.Don't be too keen to take out enemy once you've got to the top, they'll just pick you off and drop arty on you.As i found out :D

You should be okay in this campaign for reinforcements, saying that i'm trying to get past scenario three.Much easier but just as nasty as you'll see.Have fun bud ;)

  10. School of Hard Knocks is tough but beatable. I managed it once. This is incredibly difficult. As MD says, some missions are meant to be 'experienced'. I think what I might try is small platoon action rather than focussing the whole force. I'll keep most back and work one angle at a time. I'll also use a couple of smaller teams as artillery 'bait'. See what happens. By the way, I won't divulge too much but I ceasefired my mission and examined the map. The German force in this mission is immense.

My only really complaint about this game at times,is some of the Campaigns.

The 'experience' angle of certain scenarios is all well and good.Being given the option of being forced down a set route and virtual annihilation in a set time(which is usually way too short) is another matter. That's not to say the scenarios are bad, indeed a lot are pure masterpieces in creation and map-making.It's just some can feel like a pure chore or a what's the point in playing this.Rather than a 'ok that didn't work,i'll try this.'

I more prefer the 'what if' approach myself allowing you the option of different tactical approaches.Like i say i'm not knocking any of the scenario makers, this game is truly epic because of their efforts. How about BF maybe throw in an option to allow us to maybe alter the times slightly.

At least until my tactics improve.

  11. There could be an issue with the space taken up by a unit.Meaning though you can clearly see the target, you don't have a clear shot. You are looking at half a square gamewise because of the angle.I've even had this at times with infantry in urban combat with a side on view.Yup line of sight, blue line etc but i can't fire. It's just the way the game mechanics are sometimes.

  12. I don't disagree with that. My hope for you guys out there in the wilds of Europe or wherever is that BFC will hear your plea and make arrangements that are more agreeable for you.

My comment about democracy, BTW, was intended as a satirical observation on the currently cynical way our societies are run. I can see how that attempt may have miscarried. I will try harder next time.

    Michael

Michael,no insult was taken.I'm only having some light hearted banter myself thus the Orwellian quotes.I'm getting close to either trolling or spamming so i had better pack it.I'm just constantly checking the forum in hope of news of the module, like a child the night before christmas. Not easy being an addict to this game :)

  13. This is not some sort of socialist paradise.

    Its a game company forum.

They are in it for the money, not to please you personally.

And I say this as a socialist...

Indeed, they are.I have bought and own everything in the CMx1 and CMx2 franchise and i mean everything and no,i don't want a medal. As i stated it would be nice to have the option tp pre-order downloads only but it's not a problem or a complaint. The option would be nice though.

And I say this as a long time paying customer ;)
