True, but hardly sounds like tanks leading the attack when they are following the infantry. The scout is a good idea but you dont always have one

Very interesting and technical thread indeed. I enjoy the stats. Game wise I have not played with any of the heavy tanks yet as I have been playing the quick battles in the early years of the Russian campaign but it seems that the maps themselves are not very large in general, that close range fighting seems to be the norm due to terrain and line of sight issues and it appears from a game play perspective that any decently gunned tank will take out the other if they get hits. The long range gun an optics superiority of the German tanks does not come in to play often, as the shoot up more often than not, is well under 500 meters anyway.

How effective is infantry close assault against tanks. Had a tank hunting team go up against a small Russian armoured car last nite, was scoring hits but not much result as in casualties or destruction of vehicle, just wondered how effective they really are against tanks in the game.

I seems like the only way to spot an AT gun is offer up a tank to the gods of war as a sacrifice. If the tank survives the first hit, may be the gun can be taken out by said tank or one of his buddies if another has the same line of sight etc. Would be nice to be able to locate enemy by observation sometimes, not always after they have taken the first shot.

thanks guys, that makes sence and I was not aware that was going on in the selection process, never tinkered with that feature of set up

I am having a issue with the Quick Battle feature in Combat Mission 2. For example, for a Force Size of 600, I go to the purchase forces screen and I stay within the allowed limits for unit types and I don’t exceed the Total as well but when game goes to map to set up forces starting placement I don’t have all purchased units. What am I doing wrong here?
