  1. You'd stomp me in RT if I played and ground level, while you hovered above your units. You bring up a good point about info overload. Imagine being able to choose between (w/a hotkey perhaps) a platoon level radio/msg box and a company level msg box, like changing frequencies on the radio.
  2. You mean Aryan? Sorry, I don't think I qualify. I'm a little too Mediterranean looking.
  3. I think you misread me. I meant by, "whether I can afford it or not" as "It doesn't matter if I can afford it or not." Make no mistake. I can afford it.
  4. I mean leader names. For example changing Doroskoviski, Boronovov, or whatever to Gibson or whatever. I have nothing against Eastern names, but I just feel more immersion w/names more familiar.
  5. Sounds like fun! But I don't plan to buy CMBN until it has been out awhile. I want to make sure it is up to speed, and whether I can afford it or not, I'm waiting for a price drop. I got burned on the initial release of CMSF, and among my various character defects, I collect and hold on to grudges. I am looking at CMA, though. I'm having a fun time w/the demo. I just wish there was a text file that I could easily edit all those Russian names into something more easily recognizable.
  6. I am in no way surprised that CMBN looks like a WW2 mod of CMSF. In fact, that's exactly what I think it will be. I don't have an issue w/that. There's another thread about "old timers" returning. If they didn't like CMSF, why would they like CMBN? I mean it is basically the same game w/WW2 units.
  7. Thought maybe I know you, one of "THOSE" people in your area. Well, closer to Charlotte, anyway.
  8. I watched a bunch of AARs on youtube, and I was struck that the player was always zooming out and deselecting his units to understand what was happening. I don't want to play that way, and a msg box would be a great tool to help experience real time closer to the ground.
  9. Are you an import broker?! I bought the first PC and found it woefully lacking. The second game, PCK, was a bit of an improvement, but still very rough. Around six months ago, I had some free time, and I was looking though my old games, found PCK, and I thought I'd give it another shot. Then I decided to check for a recent patch, and that's when I discovered PCO. Honestly, all the improvements the PC team made should really make for a great game. I believe the improvements have been fueled by dislike for CMx2. Personally, I don't understand that, since CMx2 is a pretty damn good game. I haven't anticipated a game more since OFP! Yes, CMBN should be good, but it looks like CMSF w/a WWII mod. PCO has an open structure, as opposed to CMx2, so you should have more flexibility w/the system if someone forgets to put in Panzerfausts, or something like that. Also, there's no bizarro DRM. But ultimately, PCO and CMBN are two totally different games. PC is intentionally more of a game than a simulation. It uses dice rolls and charts for spotting and hitting, etc. CMx1 fans will might be initially thrown off by the different system. If you want to scream "IT SUCKS!" or whatever, fine.
  10. It is a topic I would like to discuss finalcut, and maybe you should send me a PM, but it has nothing to do w/CM or PC.
  11. You're right. It is out of line. I kind of am pulling people's legs here, and I don't mean to offend. Sorry. It is kind of silly and only works online. In real life, trust me, you would probably have no problems dealing w/me; however, I do find it weird that if anyone says anything that BF shouldn't like, people appear out of the woodwork attacking the criticizer. And yes, to be honest, deep inside, I distrust Jews.
  12. I made a decent point, but you don't address it. People come out of the woodwork saying, "Lighten Up!" or "You don't like Jews!" This is all Bull. The best explaination so far is a misunderstanding that its some Beavis and Butthead joke!
  13. Kiss my ass! You want bring the Jews into this? I don't think thats really the problem here, unless you are one of them!
  14. I appologize. Out of line, but . . . why attack CC?
  15. My comment was directed at Battlefront.com. Who the hell are all you other people? I don't understand. Are not all of you on my side of the fence as consumers of a product? What do you gain by coming after me? I posted my opinion, so what the hell do you care? Can't Battlefront defend itself? It doesn't need you.
  16. Currently, if a player wants to play CMx2 in RT, he should stay above the action (zoomed out) so he can see everything. If we had a message box for units withing C2 (perhaps simulating radio chatter), then we could play the game constantly at ground level and *try* to understand what is going on from the messages. A better example: If I'm playing real time, focusing on one point of the map, and something happens on the other side of the map, then I get a message saying (for example) "this is unit XYZ we are under fire" or "we see armor coming" or whatever is happening. Only units within the C2 loop should send in the msg box. This way, a player could play a game in the clostrophobic (sp?) atmosphere of wonder what in the hell is going on from a ground level point of view! Message boxes are a standard in many RTS's. In Wego, where it isn't so important.
  17. You think I'm over-reacting? Yeah, probably. Forget it. People can draw their own conclusions.
  18. You think that's clever? Insulting a classic game and encouraging others to do so also? At least the Matrix guys don't actively put down other games. No wonder this message board is so arrogant. If life were a Combat Mission game, Steve would have a little picture picture in the lower left, and the leadership would be -2. I bet when I take a sh*t in the morning I'm making more money than you. I'm paying cash for PC:O (I could get this game for free) and I will also buy CMN, but only when it is on Ebay for $5. No offense; I hope your game is a success, because the genre certainly needs it, but please drop the attitude.
  19. It doesn't matter what unit is the player. The message bar could represent the local radio chatter--all units w/a radio could access it.
  20. I'd like to stay at ground level, and have a msg box simulating a radio/C2 loop telling what is going on! CMx2 already has an awesome C2 feature, so if a unit is within the C2 loop, let him post messages in a msg box to simulate friendly relayed messages! For example, "We are under fire! Enemy armor spotted grid XXX!" etc. Yes, soldiers often suck at reading maps, so put in an error factor on the location. Also consider suppression levels, and if there is even time to relay a message or a grid. Please make it so that I can play the game near ground level, and let my paranoid imagination run wild of what is happening! Of course, keep it a Combat Mission game so I can change my point of view to any unit in the game on the fly. The best feature (IMO) of CMx2 is the relative spotting/C2. Please use it for more than just spotting/morale.
  21. Yes! This would be very good. Also, I've only played the demo of CMA. I'm amazed at how well my 2-year-old midrange laptop can run it! I can decently run the "Bear and the Hornet's Nest" scenario. Does anyone think this scenario is a good representation of the overall game?
  22. Yes, a slightly lower view would be nice, but overall, I think the CMSF camera is one of the best. (I'm assuming the CMBN camera will be the same.) Especially good is the mouse button turning. If I'm not mistaken, don't Sins of a Solar Empire and the Total war games use cameras that rotate around focal points? Do some people prefer that style because it is faster to manipulate? I think the CMx2 camera is more free. For example, I can occupy a empty point in space and magnify without moving the camera. The zoom in most RTS style cameras actually moves the camera closer to the focal point--I don't like that as much.
  23. If you already have PzC:K then PzC:O will be a free update. It looks like many, many improvements have been made. Perhaps you should try it, since its free and you have nothing to lose.
  24. What in the world are you talking about? Is there going to be a new Close Combat? I'm looking very much forward to both the new Panzer Command and the new CM game. I will likely buy and enjoy both of them!
