  1. Hello there, I thoroughly enjoyed SC WW1 and its add-on 1939 Storm over Europe because of the bigger and therefore more realistic map. This gives room to manoeuvre and avoids that distances can be travelled in one turn where 2 or more turns are more realistic (such as distances in India, China or from the German border to Paris). However,... SC WW 1 is only one theater. My all time favourite however is SC Global Conflict. I was thrilled to see that SC Global Conflict was upgraded (Gold) and bought it right away. Although better than the previous version it "only" contained the new functionality as developed for SC WW1. My question and also my request is if there are any plans to make SC Global Conflict (2) with the same map dimensions as seen in SC WW1? This will make the game more fun to play and even more realistic. Regards, Dirk
  2. Alternatively a bigger map, such as with the scale of SC WW1, might be an interesting option.
  3. Dear developers, I am an avid fan of all the Strategic Command games (and own them all). In my opinion, Global Conflict is the best game in this series due to the scale of the conflict (all war theaters in stead of just the European or Pacific theaters). However, the new content and playability features of Strategic Command The Great War and its 1939 campaign are very nice additions to that game. Will there be in the near future an upgrade of Strategic Command: Global Conflict or possibly a whole new game (Global Conflict II) which will include the enhancements of the latest game(s) in this series? Thanks for your response. Regards, Dirk
  4. It seems to me that everybody agrees that U-boats were especially effective against merchant shipping. Opinions on effectiveness against warships are however divided. On the internet I found a list of all allied war ships sunk or damaged by subs. This list includes some 14 battleships (see uboat.net for interesting facts). Believe me when I say that it wasn't the deck guns that did the damage :-). Also note that especially in the early war years most capital war ships were sunk! Whether or not we can agree to what it was really like in WW1, the factors that influence such reality in the game are a) the odds of hitting a ship and the damage done. If there is a way to customise these factors to anybody's liking, then the discussion is solved. Correct?
  5. Hi, I thouroughly enjoy this came. However, when it comes to naval battles I feel a bit let down, sometimes even a bit agitated because the message "damage evaded" happens a bit too often. I can understand that when similar class ships attack each other, such as battleships, that the possibility of damage evasion is present. Battles were fought with big guns over great distances, without sophisticated targetting equipment. However, when I attack battleships with submarines, even with class 5 (!), that message still occurs very very frequently?! I think that it is a bit unrealistic due to 2reasons: 1. Submarines back then had to get real close to fire off torpedoes. Torpedoes back then were not as developed in terms of range as today's versions. 2. Those battleships/dreadnoughts of that time were slow ships, hardly capable of agile evasive manoeuvres. Especially when torpedoes are fired, as mentioned above, at close range! Similarly the odds of evading damage for battle cruisers can be higher than those for the battleships due to the fact that these ships are faster, but should still be lower than compared to destroyers. Does anyone agree with this observation and can (via the editor?) changes be made to these odds? Regards, Dirk
  6. Hi Snowstorm, Thanks for your reply. The thing is, as I mentioned, that even when I change nothing but just save an original campaign under a different name that errors in scripts occur?? Also, yes, I can save and ignore errors. The game works, but without the events. But that is only half the fun. Is it not that the scripts give the look and feel of a WW1 game? Otherwise I can just play SC 2 if I want to conquer Germany. Last, I have no scripting experience. So manually editing the scripts is not an option. Cheers, Dirk
  7. Hi there, As with previous games I like to customize the game to my liking, using the provided editor. When I open the Call to Arms campaign and without altering any settings of that campaign save it under a different name the editor tells me there are errors in the scripts. The editor then provides a choice: save and ignore error scripts or don't save and edit scripts. When I choose to save, the game works but in-game events etc won't pop up during game. When I choose not to save I am directed to a screen where I can manually try to amend the scripts or have it amended via an updater. Having no knowledge of scripts whatsoever I wanted to use the updater. However, the editor then freezes. Thus there are 2 issues: 1. Scripts have errors when trying to customize campaigns 2. Updater of scripts freezes the editor. Is this a known problem and will there be a patch available for the editor? Regards, Dirk
  8. Thanks very much for your help and quick response! Regards, Dirk
  9. Hello Hubert, The link to the editor which should work for patch 1.01 AND Windows7 is not working. I get the reply: The requested URL was not found on this server Does this mean a new patch will come out with the correct new editor files or is this just a temporary glitch? Thanks for your reply/fix. Regards, Dirk
  10. In addition to having a bigger European map: it is unclear to me why the low countries in SC Global conflict are represented by Brussels and the Belgium flag and not by The Netherlands with the Dutch flag. Now that the game has expanded to cover the whole world it would be more logical to have The Netherlands to represent the low countries as the Dutch colonies in Asia (Dutch East Indies) are also represented in the grand campaign. Another question: Does the fall of The Netherlands in any way influence the situation (p.e. loss of MPPs for the allies) in the Dutch East Indies in SC Global conflict? Regards, Dirk
  11. Hi again, Nice to see that replies come in faaaast. I have turned on the video acceleration option and have pressed F3. Alas, to no avail. Playing as the Japanese, the Allied computer opponent still takes about the same amount of time to think, plan and organise its move (animation was fast and remains fast). Hopefully there are other ideas to improve performance? Any other ideas, apart from buying a faster computer and the F3 option? Cheers, Dirk
  12. Hi, I may have overdone it with the "o's" in slow, but having progressed to 1945, the computer takes longer and longer to perform its turn. At present (March 1945) it takes about 4,5 minutes. This really takes away the fun that I had in the beginning of the game. My computer is a 3,4GHz Intel Pentium with 2Gb of internal memory and a Geforce 7900GS graphics card (256Mb). Do other players encounter slow game performance or is my computer already outdated in terms of speed? Regards, Dirk
