  1. The bombardment effect you mentioned really caught my eye. The one thing I found to be a problem is that transports cannot attack coastal units directly from sea tiles. If naval bombardment is effective enough, those shore defenders could be removed to make way for the landing crafts, and allow the AI to actually make D-Day landings against a well defended French coast. I am intrigued.
  2. As an old Third Reich addict, I was so happy to find this awesome game. Playing the Axis against the AI at Expert, I began building [Corp] units in late 1942 and placing them along the coastal tiles to defend France. I managed to place a unit on every coastal tile and guess what? AV transports cannot attack coastal defenders from the sea!! This made it impossible for the D-Day invasion force to land, and the Allied AV transports simply sat off shore waiting for my air units to destroy them. AV transports should be able to attack land units that occupy coastal tiles UNLESS that coastal tile is a city or fortress. This would allow using engineers to make key coastal tiles safe, but still allow invasion to be possible. There is just not time to build a fortification in EVERY coastal tile on the French coast.
