  1. I don't see any drawback for the allied player doing the bases for destroyers swap, am I missing something here?

Since there seems to be only one or two units in the British Sudan. Why should I spend the MPP's to max out the HQ's unit there? Can this HQ be used to command other British or commonwealth units, this doesn't seem to be the case?

It would seem to me that doing at least one research level for industrial output would make sense for Japan or Britain. Even though there are a limited amount of factories within each of these countries. The extra output over most of the game would out weigh the cost. Am I right on this?

  2. So my understanding is that under the gold version a sub will only be identified 50% of the time if the sub is in Silent mode. So what is to keep an opponent from sweeping the area a few times and eventually finding a sub based on the 50% probability?

So if an opponent finds a sub on a convoy route. On subsequent turns, since he/she knows the vicinity of the sub could sweep the ocean repeatedly until one sweep finds the sub again. I am assuming that this how this works?

  3. The supply situation for the Axis in Africa is so bad that unless you take Malta, it doesn't appear to make any sense to send Axis forces to Africa. The British start off the war with 1 in Anti aircraft, under this new Gold game the AA guns seem to have too much of an edge against aircraft. Should the Axis still go after taking Malta with this new Gold version? We also have the added effect that the allied unit could upgrade the unit AA. This would seem to make it very costly to try to take Malta.

    Thoughts from the Forum.

  4. I was under the impression that in addition to the Carrier and cruiser that German gets from occupying the French Fort. Germany would also receive 240 MPP's for two turns? So in playing the axis, Germany gets the ships, but doesn't get the Gold (240 over 2 turns)?

Is there something else that the Axis has to do to get the Gold. The manual seems to say that Germany should get the Gold?

Any experience with this in the Forum?

  5. Let me know if you still are looking for an opponent. I could play probably one turn a day by PBEM.

I was reasonably experienced once at the Patton game. I am learning gold now. I figure a good way to learn fast is versus a human. I would prefer to play allies so I can learn better without quite so many mistakes. I could play a good European UK and USSR once upon a time but now am rusty.. do not know gold very well and of course am a noob at the pacific.

Having said that I learn fast and you can have fun trying out your strategies on a living breathing "dummy" :-)

    Thanks,

    Luke

p.s. just to be fair to you, I've never played a any of the globals before this.

  6. I have been playing SC games for several years now, but wanted to ask the forum some questions to help me become a better player.

    1. If you increase the industrial power of England or Japan, does that translate to all of the colonies and conquered territories? Or does it apply just to the production of cities within the home country?

    2. Overall is it better to concentrate some assets in developing elite units or is it better to have more units?

    3. When defending Russia, is it better to just vacate the border cities or fight for every city? I know this kinda of depends on how soon the Axis player attacks Russia, but it would seem to me that you would conserve some assets by positioning units further back.

    4. With the new map for SC Global Conflict, it is much more difficult, in my opinion, to launch an operation Sea Lion. If you try to execute a Sea Lion operation, what is the best way to approach it?

  7. I still have not been able to reinforce my aircraft on Japanese carriers during the summer of 1943. In fact, in another game in which I am playing the allies. I have been having a hard time reinforcing a British carrier which is in an English port (10 strength). Is there any specific mode that the carriers should be in in order to be reinforced or is this a computer glitch? Or something else that I should check? I have not moved the carriers before trying to reinforce them.
