  1. Can you put an allied transport in the port before France surrenders? Seems like that would nix any axis attempt to get the ships or gold.

Just to be clear, the axis or allies put a fleet unit in the port they get the ships. If they land a unit on the island they get the gold. Can you get both?

You cannot disembark a unit until it gets to 5 supply?

Did he wait 5 turns after France fell to put a unit on the island?

  2. So as a side note to the axis strategy to keep the US mobilization low with diplomacy. The Russian mobilization stays low too it seems. If the axis employ this strategy they usually won't invade and take out the Low Countries in Europe or advance in Egypt until the end of 1940 or if they get a US diplomacy hit. The side advantage of this is that the USSR doesn't see 20% mobilization or more until 1941. By that time the Russians are hard pressed to build anything but divisional units to slow down the German blitzkrieg. So even with a few less units in invade Russia, the axis are way better off to throw diplomacy chits at the US. Oh, and keep in mind if the alies do anything that hurts US mobilization, i.e. Invade Norway, declare war on any neutral country, or any of the other negative action items the Allies are toast.

So the US gets very little MPP's for pretty much two years. This of course is going to make it hard for the US to defend the west coast fleets from Attack.

  3. So far in 1941, there hasn't been any increase in US mobilization and it is June! This is despite Germany declaring war on Yugoslavia and advancing in Egypt. I am wondering if this version of the game kept the US mobilization in place as crispy131313 mentioned in an earlier reply. It doesn't appear to be the case so far.

Strategiclayabout's comments are good, but the problem is the allies can't match the axis MPP's to diplomacy early in the war. One of the bigger problems facing the allies if there is low US mobilization is:

    1. No MPP lend-lease convoys.

    2. US has little to put towards industry as MPPs are low.

    3. No destroyers for bases. So this makes it tougher for the English to protect convoy lanes.

    So far a great strategy.

  4. So it appears that if the axis use diplomacy and avoid provoking the US to mobilize, that the axis can pretty much take out China and the USSR before the US and Britain can get a chance to turn the tide of the war.

I am playing a game right now where that is occurring. It is beginning of 1941 US mobilization is at 3% due to diplomacy hits and limiting declaration of wars till after a diplomacy hit. The game is still in progress, but right now the allies are in a deep strategic disadvantage.

Is there anything in the system that mobilizes the US automatically like the USSR?

So far it is looking like a brilliant strategy for the Axis, as the allies don't have the MPP's to challenge the diplomacy of the axis early in the war. Also, because of the low US mobilization value, the US has really no MPP's. So even when they come into the war, it will take at least a year to bring any combat power to bare. By that time, the USSR and China our pretty much toast even if you have a good defense established. Oh, and by limiting the aggression the Russian mobilization sucks too.

  5. It seems to me that the defense of Russia in the campaign game is not really possible up until the Urals? At least, that is what seems to be the case when the axis player attacks both Russia with the Japanese in the East and the Germans in the West.

Can I get some ideas from the Forum on how to better defend Russia? What units to build, tech to invest in, and where to position forces to stop the advances on both fronts.

  6. I would like to hear from the Forum how to best deploy fleets in the Pacific. I think the mode that you put the carriers in would be different if you are not around any land based aircraft. But I would like to hear some ideas on how to position fleet units against an opponent that has similar fleet strength. I also, would like to get some feedback on how the Japanese can best defend there pacific holdings, once they have expanded.

  7. I actually have found it harder to win as the Axis, if you launch Sea Lion, as the amount of extra resources that Russia and America gets from the increased mobilization makes it tough. When are they invading England?

What I find as not really at balance is the campaign in Russia, the last few games that I have played the Russians just can't seem to make a stand anywhere.

  8. Am I right to assume that if you don't initial care about Japanese carriers being upgraded for naval research, that this would not effect them attacking land based targets?

The strength of a AC doesn't really matter when attacking land targets? So if an AC strength 5 with an airwing strength of 10 is not less powerful on the attack as an AC with a naval strength of 10 and airwing of 10? Am I right in this assumption?

  9. I haven't actually looked at the formula for units getting more experience, but in general it seems that you shouldn't let a unit go below a strength of 8 if you want it to gain experience. Am I accurate in this?

AC's it seems almost impossible to get some experience with these units, any ideas from the forum?

  10. So I have a number of questions in regards to HQ's.

    1. Can British HQ's commonwealth or otherwise provide supply to US forces? Can US HQ's provide supply to British forces?

    2. It appears the US HQ's can command and increase the morale of Canadian forces? Can they command Austrialian forces?

    3. Can other allied forces (non-Russian) draw supply from Russian cities? Can an HQ provide this?

    4. Can you string a combination of US and British HQ's to increase supply to forces?

    Thanks
