  1. Yes, thanks, it already did, turned out somehow my sound control mixers were not operational. Fixed now, thanks!
  2. When opening the game, either by icon or exe, I get the message; [08/24/2010 6:37:39; 5.1.2600; 1280x1024x32(1); v1.02] FAILED(sound: make): 0x88780078 Error is logged in error file in game. My sound is on, what can I do about this?
  3. This just came up in the first turn of 1942, a sudden display of all allied dispositions in Egypt when I do not have a single unit there and almost all NA is lost. Flashed up as sudden as under 1.01. I have a save of this...
  4. First time I had this was under 1.01, when a Japanese fighter landed in unoccupied Singapore, I had no unit in it, but it still belonged to me, this was going to be fixed in 1.02 Now, with 1.02, last night I saw a british fighter land in Addis Abbeba in Italian Ethopia, they had just eliminated the Italian unit there, but not occupied the city, but they did move an air unit fighter onto it, checkind it it stated Addis Abbeba, Axis. But it had a British fighter on it, same problem still remains. Has something changed about the Vichy event for the UK? I saw no decission from the AI UK wether to select support Vichy or not support Vichy. This hence also didn't trigger the fort de France event. Vichy is now in existance, 0% allied to the Axis and not one colony joined the British, French Equatorial Africa is neutral. I saw the UK select one time do NOT support Vichy, but everything triggered as if they had, FEA did join the Allies, can that happen?
  5. Which does not always automatically result in a surrender of Poland...
  6. As title said, suddenly AI Japan moved a fight onto still Allied Singapore. Clicked on fighter to see it's from Japan, and saw Singapore, which is Allied. I have a save, but even zipped, it will obviously never be 97.5KB....
  7. I just finished a complete A3R game, on 100% diff and +0.5 It was not really a challenge, it was difficult to get the USSR to surrender, I had ALL cities/minor cities except one in the complete north, the capital had already fallen in the Urals, but I think they only surrender when there are no USSR units next to that city, finally just now they caved... So, January 1945, USA only landed 3 units in France and was mostly occupied with Italy, which they did well but you can build a line in the mountains next to Rome and that never cracked, they weren't clever enough to try more north. Italy surrendered though, and weird thing was that it had just taken Bagdad, so that part kept Italian (3 units of the 10, rest was deleted) colors and Bagdad was the capital but Italy was out of the war. I had too much MPP, there was always too much apart from the say 1st year, very soon I had build everything, not even my allies could build anything extra, and research was maxed and dilpo as well. USSR defence was not bad, but due to the large scale of the map, you get to move your tanks everywhere, I'm not even able to breal into the north of the USSR in the vanilla game... Anyway, excellent mod, well done, thanks!
  8. After Vichy creation, Japan got an event on the decission for that area, I choose to take some of the land of Indo China (capital Hanoi). This meant I cut the China trade, but 1 turn later Indo China joined the Allies. Japan is not at war with anybody but China, we are end 1940. But, I could move into unprotected Hanoi and got the message, Indo China capitulates and got some MPP's and the whole country. I don't think it's supposed to go that way?
  9. Hi Al, any ground taken by the Chineese in China from Japan turns American, and since Japan - USA are that time not at war, it can't be taken back. If I hover over the Chineese gains I made against Japan, they say USA.
  10. Yes, that's probably Nanking. That's why my enemy Japan doesn't take that city once I took it. There is a simular weird thing I noticed with Los Angelos, lower part of the city says (USA - Allied 12%), upper part of city says (USA - Axis 22%)
  11. I left this in the respository-thread, better here; Hi Al, really like the scale of your mod, playing the Allies on intermediate and Axis bonus +1. Mm, it's a bit weird, the Germans look scared or something, or they take all the wrong decissions, or both... They took till November to clear in Poland and while doing that attacked Denmark and kept sending tanks back and forth. Finally in a clear weather run they took Warsaw and because I had not build up enough or by some way all my French units were really undersupplied (I did build de Gaulle up to 10), one tank attack smack into the Maginot destroyed my unit there, but, again, no advantage taken by the germans, if only they had used their 3 tanks and paras, but they took Sedan and that was it. In Feb 1940 in the middle of the worst weather, they attacked the west, now, in June 1940, all cities are still in Allied hands, they dropped paras behind the line which had 0 supply and were dead after 3 turns. I even managed to kill a korps. They seem overwhelmed and maybe have too few units? But if I see the USSR, they have a hell of a lot to build up and nothing in queue. A few real errors (I think); the arrows giving access to other parts of the map don't work well, the Far East USSR ones i.e. do NOT move units on them to Siberia. The top one of 3 to Europe from east of Canada doesn't work either. Subs are almost impossible to kill, they keep diving, but UK doesn't have ASW yet, so this might be balanced. Japan is doing absolutely stupid attacks, wearing itself down, China took Nanking, Japan destroyed the China army as I was out of supply and it was only a try out, but, NEVER took the city, 2-3 turns further now and they just don't seem interested... Anyway, I think it's a great mod, would love to try the Axis, but read you didn't finish that AI yet.

  13. Yes, it's probably just getting used to the much wider space on the map and the aircraft ranges, it looks good so forget my comment One thing I noticed in my current game, the USSR is not going for the Baltic states and part of Romania. Baltic states in December 1940 are neutral while France was Vichy'ed by me in July 1940. That's probably a variant you put in, although rather unhistorical that the Baltic lands virtually given to the USSR (except Lithuania) under the MRP. Romania now also starts much further east, so although weird, interesting and I'll see how it works out, playing now on max difficulty and +0.5 for the AI.
  14. What would be the advised setting if you are used to all SC games but certainly not an expert on every single little "cheat", i.e. I regularly forget to get units ready for a timely Scandinavic invasion and do sometimes miss the first strike against the USSR.
  15. pzgndr , thanks first for your upload, after an unfinished normal global campaign I switched to your A3R mod, after not really liking the small european map of vanilla. Great to see so much space in A3R! I played on most difficult settings but +0 bonus first. First remark I would make is that once you DOW Poland, only the UK is at war with Germany, France stays at 89% allied and only after you attack another country does it join the allies. This gives the possibility to destroy the UK after Poland and leaving the rest as is, only to turn on the west in full swing after the UK goes down. Not sure about this feature, what made you choose it? Second, haven't played on much but am surprised with the huge distances aircraft can cover, but seeing most turns are 1 month, I would agree with this, a pity the whole mod was not scaled down to shorter turn times with less range for aircraft/army units. With the 2 hits a panzer gets and these only costing 120 to Germany that is, you are quickly able to use the maximum of tanks and blast into virtually everywhere. Most upgrades are switched off, so no worry there, or do they turn on later in game? (army and tank research) I found Oslo difficult to take as it has a full 10 corps in it, you really need your 3 stuka's for this, which makes sense. France was easy, but doesn't give up easily, you really need to occupy a lot more then Paris, which is good. Italy has possibilities in this mod. I found that building up quickly and using all units in the north I was able to attack Greece and be victorious quite quickly and have enough in north africa to swing around El Alamein and destroy the fleet in Alexandria, the fighter unit and a corps. Haven't moved on since but UK looks in trouble there. All in all VERY enjoyable certainly because of the huge european map, as I said something I found particulary disappointing in vanilla global war. I hope the USSR puts up a good fight and with the big atlantic coast, I can see you really need to keep an army in the west... Thanks for the mod!
  16. Hi pzgndr, have you posted this Advanced 3rd Reich mod in the repository? I can't locate any files there and am logged in. Just downloaded the game and would be great to try your mod. Thanks!~
  17. Sure, would like to, immediate problem is overpowered and overimproved soviet units, combined with far too many free units too early in the game. Not 1 single single extra "tankarized" unit is required, or even those but then without any extra units becoming available prior to December 1941. Taking Moscow is possible even with those units, but on a every extra help + completely trained GER player playing against the Germans is impossible. On par, even that is rather impossible to achieve, or is for me at least with a lot of training and insight. Northern from is better represented then southern, which leaves no room for manouvre, so yes, would like to wlrk together to get the OOB corrected, which would leave a far deeper penetration possible then current set up without compromizing the other fronts.
  18. It can probably only be attempted on neutral settings, in a new patch I would lower the USSR MPP's and give it less free units, amd sending units to the south is great, but cities remain giving 50% supply so can never be starved as happened IRL, neither would they surrender en masse.
  19. Well, I'm just moving as fast as possible forewards, and have by July a line from Lake Peipus to Smolensk, before Kiev which is impossible to take unless you use units from the north and surrounded Odessa, which is also quite difficult. I can't believe if PBEM is played neutral/neutral, ANY German player has any chance, I would like to see that. I think the biggest problem is the 10-15 armies the USSR gets on August 10th, that's usually when I stall as Germany. Now, as said, the USSR I can't play as I'm in Berlin by May 1942 on hardest settings and bonus +2 for Germany, so something must be wrong then...
  20. The USSR simply gets far too many units around August 1941 time, and the 15 mechs that are put into action at game start are also quite overdone, simply too many units on the USSR side and too much money to upgrade it all, as opposed to the German side where you only have Korps, no armies. You need to immediately spend 1000 on infantry weapons or you're cooked.
  21. For the Weapons and Warfare expansion, with patch 6, I decided to test the Russia 1941-1945 scenario. Clearly, set to normal, walk over for both sides (playing Russia or Germany), war finished in 1941. Set to most difficult, 100% and bonus +2!, playing as Russia against a German AI I was astonished how rather dumb the AI is. The German AI upgraded its cities with AA level 2 and had clearly also researched this (1000MPP!!). Its attacks lacked ANY depth and creativity and as soon as partisans threatened a city in Yugoslavia, instead of sending a Rumanian corps, it send TWO panzer divisions there, taking the sting out of any attack. Riga never fell, hiding behind the rivers in the north is easy, Kiev never fell due to its great fortifications and in the south they managed to get Odessa but only after 8 months, at a great cost. I, as Russia, was quietly researching tanks and infantry, bought all destroyed units back and started an offensive that took me to Berlin with probably 100 units, couldn't buy more tanks and armies and really did not know what to do with the MPP's. Berlin fell in May 1942! But, playing as Germany against a Russia set to bonus +2 and 100% difficulty, you loose against the AI (or rather, against its unit superiority and MPP's) in 2 years. Playing with bonus +1 and difficulty 100% still made me lose although I did take Moscow, but in 1942 the USSR gets so many units, and its airunits are so strong and yours unaffordable to maintain, it becomes a shooting match which was exactly what the red airforce in 1942 was totally unable to do. Hence, I switched to a Fall Weiss, as Allies, 100% and +2 bonus difficulty for myself. Even France was tedious, they took it, but clumsy and in August 1940. No movement of units, no, immediately redeploy and attack Yugoslavia. Norway was left alone, Denmark was attacked but took 2 turns. Then, an early attack into Russia, April 1941 I believe, I was not ready and they took quite a lot of terrain, this continued into 1942 and I lost Moscow, now I thought we see a more or less clever AI, until I got scared the game would be over if they knocked out the USSR which looked likely, so I gathered all my available USA units I had placed in the UK and did an overwhelmingly strong invasion in 1944, and what happened, no units in France! One infantry in Brest, one in Paris, I could walk in no problems, no aircraft, no tanks, Paris was taken the next turn, no reinforcements came either from the east, instead, the German AI kept attacking in the east, and I even lost Leningrad, but still hanging on in Stalingrad and plenty of delaying units on the way. In the meantime, I liberate almost unopposed France and the low countries, I march into the Ruhr and there's one infantry unit opposing me, I continue and 2 turns later I'm in Berlin! The goverment moves to Munich, which by now is surrounded. Germany keeps attacking in the east, I see level 3 tanks moving around but they are not moving back to protect the fatherland....2 turns later Germany surrenders, game over...rather a disappointment after a good start, no invasion AI I would say... Conclusion, Russia in the Russia 1941-45 scenario is far overpowered, especially in aircraft and MPP, Germany is far underpowered. A Russian player can quite easily win the most difficult setting and +2 max bonus. Other way around no way. In the bigger campaigns the AI loses the overview and places far too many units as Germany in the east, leaving France wide open, a few infantry and corpses would make a great difference. I hope future patches can improve this otherwise awesome game, thanks Hubert!
  22. Okay, I switched to WaW Fall Weiss now, playing 100% experienced and +2 allied bonus. Have to say this game is great, the map is much wider and allows for many more options. Many things I wasn't aware of, i.e. getting 3 corps when Oslo falls, I did it stupidly again as I never want to redeploy due to the costs, but this gets you late to the ports unless you use Koningsberg. So, I started in April with it and landed an army which easily took out the Norwegian army of 3, but couldn't advance into it, I was so worried the AI would redeploy a unit from one of the 3 Norwegian cities to oslo but that didn't happen, and taking oslo the next turn got me the corpses and the country. Simular with Denmark. France went far easier as I expected due to the tanks and their double hits, killed one army of French and landed paratroopers in the middle, French in full retreat after that and ignoring their magimot armies, which I think they should have used to put pressure on my left wing. 2 more turns required and Paris fell and so did France. I'm always unsure about the Italians, never know what to do, attack in NA which seems almost pointless or attack Greece, I did Greece after an Italian HQ was ready and in Albania. Pretty difficult those Greeks, if you land 2 armies next to Athens it should be possible but I'm not sure they would surrender immediately. Took me many many turns and required the use of a German tac bomber. In the meantime, due to NA understrength, UK has luanched and succeeded in taking Tobruk and is advancing at speed, I now need to transport those Italian units in Greece to NA. Did quite some damage to the UK fleet which sometimes makes rades close to Italy and although the italian is totally hopeless, if you can hit 2-3 times, you do quite a lot of damage. After Yugoslavia which was very easy again, I was late again and started Barbarossa on July 7th. Rapid gains in the beginning, but looks like Riga is difficult again. Tried to surprise assault Smolensk but there was a corps there, AI not totally braindead No Russian cities taken on 2nd turn yet, I have infantry weapons 2 and they have 1 but doesn't seem my units are THAT deadly as with infantry weapons 3 in SC2. Some points; - Why is Finland so difficult to get into the Axis, isn't Finland a natural axis minor? Spend 300 MPP on it now and Finland is only at 37%. - No UK bombing of French or german resources yet, they only hit Caen and Brest. - Can surface ships hunt supply lines like subs? If not, why not? Bismarck etc were send out solely for that purpose. Excellent game so far!
  23. First, an awesome game, I played SC1 quite a few times but could beat it at max settings and +2 computer bonus. I played my first Axis Blitzkrieg global map campaign a few weeks ago and had not read any rules prior, so I restarted after finding out that amfibious invasions had really changed (and for the better). I played on 100% expertise and +1 computer bonus. I had no problem with the USSR jumping war readiness when I invaded Yugoslavia. Prior to that, France had been a problem due to not much room to manouver and Norway a problem as I though I needed airpower but a single army can defeat the Oslo corps, which is good. I had the UK navy intercept and half one army and 2 units (one tank) were destroyed in France, so not very good. I had forgotten diplo and hadn't really checked research. Axis minors came in only in early 1941, and while being busy in Greece, I had to declare war on the USSR. The north is almost impossible to breach, behind the river and plenty of units so slow going there. The south was much better but Odessa is heavily defended and difficult to take, Kiev is a bit easier. I'm not sure anymore if I took Moscow in 1941 but I don't think so, I had no idea Japan would be at war with the USSR so they overran me there and occupied some Japaneese possesions, after that, I was able to stall them there. I had expected a strong opposition in 1942 in the east, but by the summer of 1942, Moscow had fallen and Finland was not even in the game, but I had taken Leningrad as well. Combination of right airpower, full strenght armies and surrounding. It takes long, but you get there. Sevastopol fell very easy in 1941. After that, I was wondering how long it would take the USSR to surrender, I had to take 5 more cities, even behind the Ural which is very very slow going. Finally, in 1943, it surrendered and I was very surprised about the rather lame opposition and lack of units and offensives. I invaded the UK in 1944 after destroying the bulk of the US armies that kept coming in slow pieces, sometimes an HQ without ANY support, so my planes and units had them come with joy into France. After London fell, I stopped. I am enthousiastic about this game though and ordered WaW as well, started Barbarossa in there and that looks very good, even at 0% expertise and 0% computer bonus, I'm not getting very far, so I downloaded 1.4 and will start better. I have now started a new Blizkrieg global war campaign with 100% expertise and 2 as computer bonus. did France in August 1940, rest historical, invested HEAVILY in industry tech as I know this decreases build costs, did so for Japan as well which is at industry level 3 now but I see no reduction in unit costs. I do see a reduction in unit costs with germany which is at level 2. did much more diplo too but unable to get the Finns so far and have 20% per turn, late 1941 now and they are at 79%. Thailand joined and the USA is not at war with Axis yet, but at 80% as well. Barbarossa is going badly, I was busy with Yugoslavia (by the way, I don't think you should ignore them but I do think it should not cause such a big problem for the USSR with regards to war readiness, I've read that, is that true?) when their war readiness went to 90%, so I had to declare war and was not totally prepared. I had waited for the industry techs to hopefully kick in a bit but they didn't and part of the army arrived late. I have now in november 1941 only taken Riga, am behind the Dniepr and destroyed 5 USSR tank units which is hell. Also, they seem much more on the attack, although not very clever but stretching my time. I have infantry weapons level 2 now, so that should be better but I have the west very underdefended with 4 corpses and Italy is helping in the USSR with 3 armies, a plane an HQ unit. North Africa only holding the original Italian cities, Etheopia is lost, but the UK does not press their attack, I conquered the Djibuti harbour, and have NO units there at all but it is still being attacked by a bomber unit from the UK which would be much better used against Axis shipping in the med. Also, I know UK has armour and units in NA, but they seem reluctant to use any, maybe they are preparing an invasion, I only have 1 corps on Rome... Japan, well, I made a mess of that as I didn't know amfibuous warfare very well, and not where to expect opposition, but even though it went quite bad I took the historical Japaneese expansion by 1942-3 and had in ALL that time not ONCE seen a USA counter attack, or trying to land somewhere or tying naval engagements, actually, no USA at all. I was about to launch invasions into Australia when I stopped. All in all, very good game and very happy with it and a good break from Hearts of Iron, but I think the AI can be tweaked to play a bit more aggressive and clever...?
