  1. When I create a battle and click go to TOW2, the mission does not appear. I cannot find it in the single mission folder. I have vista home premium. I'm sure there is something simple I'm overlooking as I have no problem creating missions in TOW(1).

    Thanks.

  2. While I agree with your opinion, shouldn't this be posted in the TOW section?

Regarding this thread, I'm one of the many who have the vista / nvidia 8xxx & 9xxx compatability problem and therefore will not be able to play CMC (if it is ever released). I had given up posting to this thread after receiving several rude and condescending responses from (a very few) of my "fellow" gamers and non-responses from Battlefront.

  3. Just for note: the forum where NVidia support people hang out is nvnews.net.

I haven't seen any of you people who got Vista and want to play CMx1 report the problems in DX5 calls in their DX10 drivers over there. Not a single person, for all the gazillion threads we had on the topic.

You are barking up the wrong tree and don't want to do homework.

Of course BFC could do it, too.

The reason I haven't posted on the nvidia boards is I have no technical knowledge regarding DX 5 or DX10. All I know is CM1 games don't play well with a DX10 video card and vista operating system. Why that is, I have no idea, nor do I really care. In order to play my favorite games, I had to purchase a non-dx10 video card. The problem for me is now resolved. Why it is up to the users to get this resolved with nvidia still mystifies me.

  4. I have vista and a dx10 video card (8500) and therefore was unable to enjoy the CM1 games.

I purchased a "very reasonable priced" 7600 card (not dx10). I am now able to play the CM1 games and all my other games with no apparent loss of video performance.

I believe a fix will not be forthcoming from nvidia and certainly not from Battlefront, therefore a $60 investment in a new video card is a small price to pay to enjoy my favorite pc games. Also, when CM Campaigns is released, I'll be able to play it.

  5. All this because some sheep couldn't keep their flippers of Vista...

This sheep has a further question, will the follow-up operating system to vista have the same dx/10 issues? I'd imagine microsoft will not go backwards in supporting dx9 and earlier versions.

That being said, are there wargames available now or in the near future that require dx/10?

  6. I've posted on the nvidia support forums, there has been no response.

Don't you think it would behoove Battlefront to push Nvidia to fix this? From this forum, it appears there are many former CMBB players who have changed systems and can no longer enjoy CMBB. Potential CMC players are dropping fast. I have vista 32 and 8500GT card. The game runs but the lousy frame rate makes the game unplayable. CMSF runs like a gem on my system.

  7. You miss the point. CMx1 is a DX5 game.

What is broken is DX5 compatibility in NVidia's DX10 drivers.

For my mind, this is the point. Many former players of CMBB have "upgraded" their pc's with vista and a modern graphic card. As you say, nvidia dx10 dirvers are not compatible with dx5, therefore CMBB is unplayable for those of us who have "upgraded".

It doesn't matter if it's a nvidia problem or a battlefront problem, the game remains unplayable.

As much as I was looking forward to this product, there is no point in my purchasing it until either nvidia or battlefront resolves the compatibility issue.

  8. I'm still getting an "unhandled exception", which the CMBB FAQ says is related to DX. Since I won't mess around with my box - concerned about breaking other stuff - I'll have to wait until CMBB is DX10 compliant. If CMC is to be successful, it will have to support DX10 - very few buyers will be savvy or gutsy enough to downgrade to 9.

From their comments, I don't believe Battlefront has any intention in making CMBB compliant with vista & DX10.

  9. What'll happen to Windows XP after June 30? I'm confused.

In industry speak, this is called "end-of-sales." On June 30, Microsoft will stop distributing Windows XP as a stand-alone product that you can buy shrink-wrapped in the store. We'll also stop sending it to Dell, HP, Lenovo and all the other major PC manufacturers to sell on their PCs.

Above from the Windows web page.

Battlefront - no, you didn't "break" anything. However you're planning to release a "new" product that many of your loyal customers, after upgrading their pc's, cannot play. It's still unbelievable that you are not planning to adress the Nvidia & Vista issue.

Couldn't agree with you more. Battlefront's silence on this topic is inexplicable. I believe (not 100% sure) that you now cannot purchase new pc's with XP from the major manufacturers.
  11. Various posters have been asking for a fix for users with a Nvidia 8000 series card using a vista operating system for many months(including me). I've been able to overcome the cascading backgroung problem, however CMBB runs VERY SLOWLY.

Aside from unhelpful comments from vista haters, there has been no word from Battlefront on how this will be addressed.

I'm sure I'm not the only CMBB player who has replaced their pc with a Nvidia 8000 series card and a vista operation system and can no longer enjoy this game and thus will not purchase CMC.
