  1. Ok guys, the walkyries made some much noises that my internet link fell apart. I am using an emergency modem link on my laptop. Tomorrow I should be provided with a travel key by my provider while they will be working on the line. They should start within 48 hours. If the cable has to be changed it might take some time.

The key should allow me to download and upload the files. it will be longer but it will work, so the Jerries can send the file it will sustain only a slight delay before I send mine back.

    Greg

  2. @koh,

The file sent was a bts one.  Chappy needed to know my intent. So that was the best way to show him what they were and if there was a disagreement he still could change a movement and or a troop position and then send for me, the file as an ema one.

Next time when the axis ema file will be available I shall play it before making my move and then send it back as an ema file. Right ?

  3. @ koh,

Glad to learn that you are out of troubles and fit for light duty. Take care

    @all Canadians

Just got back home on Saturday and the provider repairmen came this afternoon. For the time being the line is working again even if it is not perfect, but it might become once more unstable, since the cable is worn out somewhere along a 5 kilometers stretch. I have been able to download CC3 and have a look at it. D Company seems to have the Lion share. Looking at the platoons it looks like they are awaiting a counter attack.

So it looks like I am ready whenever you want. Thanks again for having waited for my return I really appreciate.

Awaiting instruction and orders as usual

  4. Thanks to all of you, I really appreciate and I can’t wait to handle once again the destiny of good old D Company !

You were surprised that not so many people were involved in campaigns.

I think one of the reason is that it is difficult to put together few people willing to play, to follow rules which are necessary to bring a good playability and having a mutual trust and understanding of each other.

On our Canadian side I think, that, if we were willing, for sure,  to play it, we went along together, discovering each other, learning from each other to become a fine team .

Our motto could be “One for all, all for one”

ChappyCanuck our fourth Musketeers can be proud of us three “StoneCutter, Kuderian and Snake eye”

I should not forget his Royalty ! “Koh” without him and some close friends nothing would have been possible.

I think the same spirit is among the “Axis” team

    Cheers

  5. Greg, you said it best:  "For the rest, I have admiration for all of you guys contributing to the making of that fantastic Campaign. It really brings CM to a level i had not even dreamed off."  For me, this is best this game can get. I am just amazed that more CM players do not get involved with campaigns.

So when are you back? Because Koh will not have the game ready to go yet

    Hi ChappyCanuck,

I should be back on the 29th. Meanwhile, I hope the provider has been able to repair the internet link, broken down since the 9th !!!!!! . I have a meeting planned with them on that day. I hope that I'll find it working on my return, since they were unable to give me a straight answer.

In any case I shall inform you all..

P.S: I was not out of memory, The original bts file was simply not in my laptop !!!!

  6. @ChappyCanuck,  I am away, as you know and nearly out of touch but with my cellphone used as a modem - a limited use I admit ! -. I had made arrangements prior to leave last week with "Stonecutter" to take command of  D Company.

Besides, I have tried to have a look at the new map without any success ( It does not load on my laptop - out of memory  ! - Once I get back I shall try to get back into the battle. That if my internet link has been repaired by the provider. The 60 minutes I have to stay on my own might allow me to keep up with the fight. Meanwhile I expect Frank "Stonecutter" to establish a more or less hedgehog defence at the crossroad with the 2 Shermans ready to roll to any threatened side.

For the rest, I have admiration for all of you guys contributing to the making of that fantastic Campaign. It really brings CM to a level i had not even dreamed off.

Thumb up to all of you.

  7. @Buzz,

Thanks, you will find the new map ideally suited for good tactical engagements either at close range and or at longer ones. The new setting of the correct curves height makes a real change. Remember that I was wondering why the area at the end of the runway was different from what I had on the pictures I had gathered. That is not anymore a problem.

  8. @all,
Thanks for the Intel about the way the fight went on.
Thanks again for waiting the release of that scenario and your kind comments.
I have been as a matter of fact ever since, I started to redo the map at the right scale, moving abroad few times for up to  three weeks and only a week for the shortest ones. Most of the time, I could only take a tablet and daily connection was not a certainty, once I arrived. Besides, my laptop taken only on one trip is unable to cope with the map needed memory and speed.
I still stick to my objective to end the map and then release the scenario. Few battles are in the hoven and all need accurate curves and height features on the map. Otherwise, the battle will not be fought has it had been done. This is the less we can do. The Battle at the airport, was a small Stalingrad with fighting intensities never seen since WWII. That is why, I do not have the right to make an innacurate map thinking at all who died there on both sides. This battle, Will be surely be taught in Military Academies in forecoming years, since the fight could have been fought different ways and also, because it derives from what is Usually done. Meanwhile, this scenario will allow the players to fight it the way they feel best.
    Written from somewhere abroad.

Snake - well done on securing that copse of trees, but beware of your spacing - you have a company packed in there and you will take significant casualties if that is an enemy indirect target

    Hi chappyCanuck,

I know it is silly to get the Company all tied up (hope they won't shell it), but with the PAK guns on the other side of the tree line, the only way to be hidden is to stay behind it and or behind the houses. I am eager to deploy the Company as soon as it is feasible.

  10. Hi, ChappyCanuck,Well,

Two bombs fell of my farthest right squad and a third fell on its target area, behind the tree line, as the mortar team was ordered. I think, they did not put the right charge on the bomb and it fell short. We have to pay dearly for every mistake !

I really don't like that new ATG in front of my objective. I thought earlier, that there might be one there and I would have like to be mistaken.

  11. Well, well......

I must confess that I had no real problems till two days ago. I realized that I had a serious one while using the files Explorer.

The explorer froze, when it did not I could not see the pictures in the Icons, I could not copy a folder and or a file to another place and so on....

I have found a precious post on the web after some research and the advice was simply to remove two updates.

    KB3081449

    KB3081448

I decided to remove KB3081449 and see how things went.

Everything, since yesterday, is working fine as it did after the installation and I am very happy to have resolved my problem, since without the File Explorer your possibilities are very limited not to say nil.

  12. Hi grunt GI,

I apologize to all of you for not having given any news. Well, to tell you the truth I have discovered that the scale of my map was wrong, while looking at a map  drawing, done for a campaign WIP by Kohlenkau. I gave him mine anyway, it could be of some use, for some of the tactical fights.

That scale error explains, why I had some difficulties on the slopes leading from the airport to the rail tracks and the buildings, located  all the way up on the right. My slopes were usually two times more inclined that they should have been, since the length of the map was half of what it was on the real ground !. How did I do that  ? I don't know, but believe me that was changing a lot the Tactical deployment of the troops around, either in defense and or attack. That was something I had noticed and that lead with the slope matter to the discovery of the scale problem. So, we will all benefit of the new and real scale.

That might not have been noticed to some of you, but it was to my eyes something I could not leave as it was. That is why I have been working on the runway, on a new map being this time rightly at the scale.

So my biggest problem at the moment is the time that could be available to work on it, besides the fact that I have been traveling frequently since May.

But I assure you that I have not dropped my project and as matter of fact like some of you have already experience it, when you do it a second time, it is usually better than the first, easier to do and  therefore faster..I shall post the new runway as soon as the slope will be done. The terminal will benefit of that, be longer and a real challenge in the coming battle

So, to resume the situation,  it is only a question of available time for me.

Thanks to all of you, for your renewed support,

  13. "Bloody Xmas" battle AAR is so well written that you really feel like being right into it. I could, reading it, almost hear the crack boom from the ATG firing, the metallic clank made by the shell hitting the PZ IV, making a hole on its side and the excited victory cries from Fox  ATG crew. Well done Stonecutter.

BTW : Was Fox  a dart champion at home  ? He got a hit nearly squarely on the centre of the Pz IV side painted iron cross !

  14. Hi ChappyCanuck,

I agree mostly with your views. However,if My Company is reaching their two houses objectives without too much trouble, as I anticipate it, the move from there, toward San Leonardo might be harder. For the moment I am out of reach of my D Company and that till Thursday evening, Frank assumes command and he knows what tactical move I was about to do when I had to leave Tuesday morning. As a matter of fact, the Jerries file awaited since Last Friday, came right after I left.

  15. @baneman

The picture is pretty good ! Yeah, I am going to war or rather I am pushed toward it by the free offer  Microsoft made me. I am always uneasy with a free offer, since nothing is really free in our world. But if I do not do it in the coming days, I will have to do so within a year at the most. So, I shall take a deep breath and plunge into the deep and find how it works for me.

  16. You're right Baneman, I don't know why I put that S behind it. My latin studies were years ago and I must say that I did have to make my choice with Win 10 to think of the words that Caesar said when he crossed the Rubicon with his  troops that being a war declaration to Roma. It won't be the same for me, I am optimist with Win10 installation.
