  1. Great points, Rankorian:

    1. I'm finding out the hard way that this is true :(

    2. I've not yet tried to fire down on the airfield from the hill...looking forward to it, though smile.gif As well as Hill & Airfield, there is

the Middle...my opponent has pushed forward

here, and managed to cut supply to my forces on the Hill....[Well Done, Mr Willett, Well Done]

    3. Yep, those HMG's are one of the best weaps

    in the game...I'm glad they're overmodeled smile.gif

  2. Buq-Buq:

A Big Thankyou for your work....

I figure even if we have to listen

to the same 86 voice files all the

time, it'll still really help the

    atmosphere of any PTO scenarios.

I'm gonna do a search on the web

to see if I can find some compatable

Japanese voice files from some other

    games...

    Banzai!

  3. Thanks Kingfish...I enjoyed that one.

Got a total victory (+1 Exp for the AI)and

took 56 POW. 4 Americans died, 13 injured.

Clever use of the Lemming Migration Feature

    of the AI...Japanese counter-attack almost

    succeeded.

I'd like to see more PTO scenarios.

Can anyone tell me how to go about using the Japanese language wav files done for CMBO

in CMAK? This would add a lot to PTO battles...

  4. The 81mm mortar has got enough range to be hidden well back....use an HQ with +2 Command and +2 Stealth, and put your mortars

either in dead ground or scattered trees...

The 50mm haven't got much range, but there a few good hiding places near the airfield...

"Yes...you might be able to take the escarpments...but at what cost? Damaged prime squads."

That's true...and the real key is the high ground overlooking the airfield...

  5. Getting back to Maleme; I would make the observation that for the sake of realism

the German player must not exploit the weird setup zones that CM generates...

For example, at the end of Battle #1, I had troops at the bottom of the escarpment that surrounds the airfield; the setup zones for Battle #2 would allow me to place those troops ON the airfield, without them climbing the escarpment and running the gauntlet of the Commonwealth dug-in positions.

Similarly, German troops are scattered all over the map at the beginning, and for realism should

not be moved back into German-held zones,

    even though this is possible.

  6. I've just been admiring junk2drive's

    Italian-to-Japanese Mods for CMAK(at CMMODS).

I've been interested in the Manchurian border clashes between Japan and the USSR for a while, and wanted to get to work on some CMBB battles and Ops.

Naturally the Italians make great Japanese....light mortars, mountain guns,

lousy tanks...but they'll look even better with Rising Sun icons and the other great stuff

    like leggings smile.gif

I know nothing about the technical constraints of modding the CM series, so forgive my question:

Is there a way I can use CMAK BMP's for CMBB?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  7. Hello All;

Been reading a great deal about the border clashes between Japan and Russia in the late

30's...some great fodder for CM here; Nomonhan, Changkufeng/Lake Khasan and more...the obvious choice to represent the Japanese and Korean forces is the Italians; has anyone done a mod for this?

I'd be content with a Rising Sun icon...

modding the voice files would just be...

    too much.

    Regards,

    Matt

"There are two kinds of terrain files in CMAK -- North African and Italian."

Off-topic, but can anyone tell me if it is possible to have North African terrain in

CMAK after July 1943? i.e is there a 'trick'?

Currently working on Modern Middle East battle

    for CMAK.....

    Thanks, anyone....

    Regards,

    Matt
