I think it's irrelevant. Come on everybody, in a few days we'll all download ToW. Stop arguing about nothing....and whats that point may I ask? [/QB]Filippo

I agree. I'll get both the digital download and the boxed version for 56$(including spedition costs), the same price (+1$) I would pay for the boxed version alone after release. That's was my main motivation to pre-order.Originally posted by Reichenberg:himmelstoss, you get already $10 off of the full price. That is quite a perk. Battlefront offers more than 18% discount. That is by far more than what you will get somewhere else out there.... with the exception of some overpriced cars maybe.

That said, I think we should all relax a bit. I think Himmelstoss was just kidding. We're talking about games so keep the appropriate tone everybody.

I'm 29 and academic lawyer. I play wargames since I was 15. These days I play mostly TOAW, Battlefront, Conquest of the Aegean, Hearts of Iron: DD, Birth of America and War in the Pacific (but I'm still in the learning stage).

I agree fully. The trailer put me in the mood and that's its main function. A few days ago I bought a used copy of "Dawn of War: Dark Crusade". Nice graphics, very good cinematics (but worse than the original dawn of war imho) and funny cartoonish battles. It's a nice and relaxing alternative to hardcore wargaming, like watching TV instead of reading a poem. That said, I don't want ToW to compete with Dark Crusade in terms of graphics and cinematics, but in terms of realism and depth. In a certain way it's like comparing (for those who play FPS) Day of Defeat and Red Orchestra. The first has the graphics and is fun to play, but the second has the "feeling".Originally posted by Vern_S:I thought the video was quite decent considering the size of the developer and publisher. Remember that Battlefront provides wargames that fill a niche market and not games for the mainstream.
Well done BF and 1C...
My 2 Cents worth.. [/QB]
I don't want a game that plays like a war movie, I want a game that makes me feel in war.

By the Way, Battlefront's eLicence is better than Steam (I speak as a Steam customer). For instance, a few months ago a huge storm in Seattle caused a black out and turned off the main Steam servers. The result was that a lot of people could not play even with their off-line games (as Medieval TW 2). You certainly know that even for off-line gaming Steam requires connection. That is not the case with ToW, as far as I know.

Curious. For me 50% of the pleasure in wargaming is talking about it... I guess I'm an exception.Originally posted by Moon:For some reason, only about 5%-10% (depending on the game) of people who actually order from us (not counting retail etc) ever post to the forums. That's a fairly constant average number across the past years. I guess it goes to show what an annoying minority you guys really represent

Great game btw. I don't have anything against eLicence as long as there are safeguards (in case of HD failure or human error) and a serious company as Battlefront promises the release of an unlicensed version of the game in case it went out of business.Originally posted by Bloodstar44:Distant Guns from SES is not cracked yet [/QB]
I'm playing lots of old games too (it's in fact preventing me from even considering to get Vista) but I fully understand that a small company as Battlefront needs to get paid for every copy of the game. I'm an active supporter of wargame developers and publishers (may be too active, considering my economy...) so I appreciate that only paying customers play the games.
I'm thankful that Battlefront uses eLicence and not starforce or other methods that messes with my hardware (it's not a legend, I'm a victim of starf..ck).

I suppose there are no possibilities for the Download day to be before Easter, right? But I can't stop thinking how nice it would be to play ToW on my two days off...

True. Online registation isn't a big deal, expecially if you compare it to something like starforce...Originally posted by Reichenberg:Greg in CM you always had to have the original CD in one of the disk drives. I personally find this more annoying than the online licensing once after installation. I have way more flexibility afterwards!!

I've already done that. In fact I've pre-ordered ToW so I trust you. I wanted a simple reassurance: I thank you for that.Originally posted by Moon:Of course if you want to try out how it all works first hand, buy one of our current games via download

Just a simple clarification. I wish you guys the best success and I hope you'll be on the market for the next hundred years but, god forbid, what would happen if you went belly up? I've seen a lot of excellent companies (Microprose, SSI, Talonsoft and so on) disappear. If you were forced out of business what would happen to my game? Storm Eagle Studios, who has a similar activation system (and whom I bought Distant Guns from) promises an official "crack" (sorry for the term) in case of retirement from business. Do you promise the same?

Hi! The Armchair Gerneral preview expressed some criticism about the AI in ToW. Considering that the preview was based on a beta version, what can you tell us about the artificial intelligence, both friendly (pathfinding, reaction to enemy soldiers an so on) and hostile (tactical and strategic skills of the opponent), in the definitive version?

Hello! I've pre-ordered yesterday. I can barely wait for the day I'll recieve the magic e-mail...

Hi! I've prordered ToW one minute ago. I have a question (probably a stupid one, but anyway): in the e-mail I got I see a download link. I've not tried to click on it but I wonder what it is? I guess that it cannot be the game yet. I suppose I'll have to click on it when I get an e-mail from Battlefront telling me that the digital delivery has started for pre-order customers. Am I right? Sorry if all this sounds really stupid but my brain is not in it's brightest shape on sunday afternoon...

Thanks again! I'm clicking on the preorder button.Originally posted by Moon:It says Geforce 6600 in the video card panel, so yes, I assume I have the "plain" version.

Wow! Great news! Just to make it absolutely clear: you have a *plain* 6600 GeForce Card (not a GT one)? Right? If you confirm this I'll preorder the game right now. Thank you for your kindness,Originally posted by Moon:Valgua, I have the exact same card (although a slightly more powerful CPU/RAM) and have zero problems with game performance, not even in the biggest battles. Since I have been taking most of the screens you see released in the past weeks, you can see the graphics quality I get right there.

I really hope it is this way. The main problem is of course my videocard. The range between the minimum and the recommended video card in the official system req is very wide and can be interpreted in may different ways. It all depends on what the dev team means with the words "minimum" and "recommended". Does "minimum" mean that the game will start but that the playability will be compromised? Does "recommended" mean that with that configuration the player will be able to activate every single graphic effect and detail maintaining an optimal frame rate? In my (long) experience the words "minimum" and "recommended" means a lot of very different things to various dev teams. It would be nice if the Battlefront team told us what is their interpretation of those words.Originally posted by crazyman56:I would say thats fine full detail should be possible i think.

A wise advice but I'd like to save 10$ preordering...Originally posted by Cincinatvs:Wait for the demo :~)

I'm evaluating the purchase of ToW but, as many others I guess, I have a question about the system reqs.
My computer is an Athlon 64 3200+ with 1024 mb Ram and a plain GF6600 (256 mb) video card. What can I expect from ToW? I know I probably won't be able to play at full resolution and detail but can I expect good frame rate if I lower the detail a bit (without completely destroying all the beautiful graphics of course)?
