  1. Playing now with winamp in the background - works splendidly! Did you ever start Barbarossa on Franz List´s "Preludes"? Pretty cool I say, but it was (of course) accidentally that it was on the playlist right that turn ...

So I wish there was a way to trigger certain music on certain occasions. For example I have a Christmas tune from 1942. It would be great if this could be triggered to play during December turns.

  2. Gérard: that´s only partly true. It´s not the whole coast that went to Italy. Look at the map I posted on page 2. Anyway, Croatia also got Bosnia, so that´s quite a bit larger than modern day Croatia. I have other WW2 maps (in printed form) showing the same facts. As for Greece: we have to distinguish occupied from annexed parts - so Dave got it right (as far as one can do it with respect to the map limitations).

  3. JP Wagner: Well, as said I do not want to have any ingame music provided by Battlefront - that would be indeed boring soon. I want to define the tracks myself (mp3-folder). And I do not want to turn on the CD player because I want the sound to come out of the same speaker as the rest of the game so I can use my headphones to hear both music and game sounds (and don´t bother my wife and kid, too!)

Timskorn: You mean I can already use some media-player in the background while playing SC2? It won´t interfere?

  4. I was just innocently playing SC2 when it suddenly struck me that there is absolutely zilch ingame music.

Well, what I do not ask for is that Battlefront should actually license music for SC2 (like Paradox always does for their games).

But I still want to hear "A bridge too far" or "Panzerlied" or "Lily Marlene" or "Les Preludes" and all that other nice ww2-related music I have as mp3 files on my computer while playing!

So I start this thread as a petition to add a music on/off option to the game and a folder where it plays (in random or preselected order) mp3s from we put there.

  5. I was just reading about Timskorn´s next Allied AI-version and suddenly thought "Wouldn´t it be great if one modder´s script-batches for the Axis could be sent into kind of a duelling fight against another modder´s script-batches for the Allies?" I mean like in a match of chess-computers? I somehow think that this would be a nice incentive for AI-modders to find out about the best strategies (and also exciting to just watch for "bystanders" like me smile.gif ).

  6. Actually, I´d rather have Hubert spend his time fixing strict bugs and adapt things that can´t be edited by us. I don´t fail to see that human vs human gamers want to have something like a "standard scenario" for their ladder games etc, but couldn´t you guys not simply discuss whatever changes you want and then issue an "official tournament-mod" yourselves?

  7. That North African cities go up to 10 after the UK switches capital can´t be helped with the current engine because this is just an effect of the supply rules (being connected to the capital).

The best thing would be if a patch would introduce the possibility to define a maximum mpp/supply value for every city separately. This would also allow to have more "minor cities" in the game without screwing game balance.

In the meantime I think that Blashy´s idea of reducing US war readiness after UK falls to Sealion is a must. (I don´t think it is quite enough, though, because even without US jumping aboard, the situation for the Allies after they lost UK looks rather better than worse.)

  8. Seems to me that most of us hoped for the possibility to have part of one´s cobelligerents AI-controlled. It would also take human vs human games into the realm of multiplayer. Actually, I really hope that this will be implemented in a patch for it can´t be too difficult (even Clash of Steel introduced this option in a patch). I always say (for this is not the first thread about that topic ;) ) that for the Axis the same should be done with Italy/Germany. Leaving Italy AI-controlled would be fun. And playing it would actually provide some new challenge for experienced player.

  9. Just wanted to add that it will not do to look at a map of mother Russia and just compare the occupied to the unoccupied part. According to the "Month by Month Atlas of WW2" the occupied region in 42 held 50% of the Russian population.

And I don´t agree that Moscow was an unimportant strategical target. With Moscow, it was an "all-roads-go-to-Rome" type thing, especially with railroads. Taking it would have caused severe infrastructure and transportation problems. Not to mention the psychological factor. For a good part, a war is won or lost in the mind of the combatants.

  10. ... well, the onset of Winter WAS sudden and early. Temperature drop was extreme and stopped the advance in its tracks. What the Soviets in 41 needed and didn´t have to turn the tables around was time to reorganize and put up a working defense against a foe advancing that fast. The winter was what got them the time they needed. Actually, I´m convinced they would have lost the case if the weather would have stayed mild.
