  1. Out of interest, where panzerfaust's as inacurrate as in combat missions, they never seem to hit the target. As well molotov cocktail's never seem to hit the target even at close range. Did the american's supply bazookas to the soviet union? Did the soviet's use them? If not why not? Was the soviet infantry ill equipped with close range anti tank weapons? As only the tank hunter team have rpg's in combat mission. I would be greatfull for info
  2. The combat between infantry is not decisive enough at combat ranges between 50-100m. This results in too many close up hand to hand combat. Even at the american civil war there was very little hand to hand combat, whatever the myths say.
  3. I know that you can put afv's into ambushing positions but camouflaging them as well would slow down the reaction time of being spotted. At the moment as soon as an enemy can be possibly spotted it is targetted. Its like the crew have infa red eyes and built in radar. It dosn't matter if the crew are veteren or green, they can all instantly spot the enemy at computer quick speeds, even at long ranges. There is no human factor in targeting, humans make mistakes. The afv crews at the moment are robotic. At the moment afv's are spotted as quick in open terrain as afv's in scattered trees or near woods. It would be good to see graphics for camouflage on afv and guns.
  4. I apologize to every one else for going over old ground and creating too many new threads. Iam new to the forum and have arrive too late. Because of this I havn't had a chance to comment on things already been said. You guys have all ready have disscussed things that I would have liked to have commented on. Iam going to try to find the threads that cover the questions i have asked, if i ever find them. By the way, why can't afv's be invisible at the start of the game if they are camouflage. That was the point I was trying to make SteveP. If you are on the defensive, totaly outnumbered and have worse tanks that your opponent then why wouldn't you try to coamouflage your afv's to give yourself an advantage. The germans relied on a lot of camouflage towards the end of the war, so that they could ambush there more numerous enemy's. Also to make it harder for aircraft to spot them.
  5. Will there be lifts for tall buildings, climbing all those stairs will be tiring.
  6. It would be a good idea to be able to camouflage afv's and gun's. You should be able to do this in scattered trees and edges of woods (afv's should be allowed to go into the edges of woods). This would make them harder to spot by enemy units including aircraft. If they move or fire then they can be spotted as normal. This would make ambushing possible for afv's (especially against other afv's). Camouflage could replace hiding for afv's and guns. It would also be good to hide small guns in buildings (great for ambushing).
  7. Will there now be a rpg element with the campaign. Units that fight through the campaign will gain experience (faster reaction time, more accurate shooting, and better spotting). Units that perform well in battle (units that have take flags or have large kills), improve faster and have higher morale. But units that perform badly(rout in battle or suffer heavy casulties), will peform worse in the next battle (but can improve again). It would be good to move soldiers unit to unit, you can add some veterans to a green unit to beef them up or add green soldiers to veteran units so that they gain experience faster. Snipers with a lot of experience and kills would become deadly accurate at long ranges.
  8. How big are the battle maps going to be? Iam hopeing for at least 10km x 10km, this will allow for more strategic battles. Will you be able to create your own campaign? Operations in combat mission didn't work that well because it relied on the ai to place the units. Which usualy placed units in daft positions, especially afv's.
  9. Will aircraft and helicopters be modelled or will they be just a line with a name at the top. Will you be able to select the target for aircraft and helicopters instead of it being done by the ai. In the future, why not include air combat as well as land combat.
  10. I agree with LongLeftFlanks comment. Green troops would bunch together and so they would suffer more casualties than reguler troops who would spread out more.
  11. There were no farmhouses nearby. Maybe the crew were fratinizing amongst themselves? (if you get my drift)
  12. It's a shame to read that the stories of buildings will be capped at 6, I was hopeing for at least 10 stories. Many storied flats will not be possible. The small town near me has buildings with more stories than 6 and its only a small town. So a large city will not look realistic with only maximum of 6 storied buildings. Thanks to Dogface for the info. Nice to see someone agreeing with me about having larger walls. By the way the small hedges in combat mission look too small, they look lower than a soldiers knees. Would anyone grow such low hedges, or am i mistaken.
  13. Happy to hear the AI is being improved, but will this stop the ai leaving units behind doing nothing when its on the attack. In one battle I played, I was attacked by personnel carriers and infantry, which I easy defeated with sherman tanks. In the end I won the battle easily, when i looked at the map at the end of the battle. I noticed 2 sturmIII's and 1 PzIV hadn't moved in the battle. Maybe the crew's of the tanks were having a picnic while there comrades were dieying. This has happehed several times in battle.
  14. It seems to be much harder to cause casulties against mg crews than against other infantry. I don't see why this should be the case, if the attacking infantry is not being suppressed, then it should be nearly as easy to cause casulties against the mg crew as other infantry.
  15. I have also thoght of possible new additions to terrain such as: Large stone walls. Large and small iron fences. wasteland with garbage laying arond, orchard, beaches, domestic plant garden and vegetable farm garden. There could be new bridges such as huge suspension bridge and a light wooden bridge (too light for tanks). As yet there isn't a land bridge with a railway running underneath it. Also there are no railway bridges. The trench terrain needs improving, at the moment it lacks depth. It looks like the soldiers are sitting on brown dirt. It would be great to have a higher elevation tool, than the maximum of 20. If it was say 100 than you could create moutains instead of just high hills. Rivers would look more realistic if it was flowing.
  16. It would be nice to have different buildings than the generic houses and churches. I have made a list of possible new buildings: Garages, sheds, greenhouses, terrace houses, semi detached houses, flats, train station with platform, docks with cranes, town hall, warehouse, barn, oil well, storage tank, commercial shop, light factory building. houses with flat roofs or attics, well, statues, fountains.
  17. Open terrain should be open terrain (no cover). Occasional small dips, rocks, tree stumps, high grass should be created by the terrain editor. Which at the moment is not possible in individual or small scale. Maybe it would be better creating smaller terrain tiles than the 20m x 20m used at the moment, say 5m x 5m, this will allow more smaller detail be created on the map. Plus having height contours at a minimum choice of say 50cm instead of 125cm will allow you to create small dips in terrain to hide behind, but will still allow infantry be targets if standing up.
  18. The mg's might have been fixed in CMBB/CMAK but there firepower is still too weak. Try out this battle for yourself. Attack a enemy flag in woods defended by 1 hmg by attacking through 400m of open terrain with 1 rifle platoon (48 men). Then try this battle with 1 pl hq and 1 rifle squad defending the flag. Taking the flag against the hmg is much easier. It should be much harder taking the flag against the hmg.
  19. Its not only the firepower of tanks that is too weak against infantry in open terrain. After capturing a flag in one game. The enemy infantry couterattacked in the usually suicidal mass attack (glad to hear the ai is going to be improved). They charged through open terrain towards my forces. It should have been a massacre but more than half survived. If anyone knows about ww1 then 1 machine gun can do enormous damage against charging infantry in open terrain.
  20. The firepower of tanks in combat mission against infantry in open terrain is far too weak. In one game I had a tank shot at infantry in open terrain with mg for 3 minutes at 50m range causing only 1 casualty. The infantry should have been wiped out in seconds unless the gunner is blind.
