  1. I had to specifically install 9.0c for a different reason so that should already be in place. I ran the dxdiag and it only shows the level 10 information. Is there anyway to get info on all of the installed versions? `er
  2. I having the same issue. Looking at other forums it might be a Direct-X level issue. I know that I have the newest level but also older levels for some software. Perhaps DiF is not finding the correct level. I have SP1 and don't use windows firewall. I have set the programs up in both windows and Norton 360 and run as administrator but to know avail. 'er
  3. FWIW I've found the game very fun and generally quick (unless you get stuck doing poorly in a 4 element game, you then have to wait out the rest of the game that you have no interaction with - only the computer playing itself). The on-line community is a tad difficult to break into. I get the feeling that most games are set up between them. But once someone is willing to play it goes pretty quick. I've also noticed that the way games are set up on-line are a bit different then when playing solitaire. For instance I had some on-line pilots created but because I had them set to start in 1939, for some reason I could not use them in the game that my opponent had set up. Perhaps there are rules somewhere that better define how that works but I've not found them. It's overall a very fun game. I was lucky enough to get it at a special price. The base price is a tad high. If you use Vista you might also verify that it's working now as I saw some posts about problems there. I don't use it so I didn't follow up on those.
  4. I'm pretty sure that Dan is working on a WWI game. And I think GMT might have been as well - whether together or as separate games I'm not sure. Of course they will probably start as card games then maybe transfer to computer. Back when I was helping on Dif, I had devised a concept for the WWI game that would have a basic game that used the base DiF game but adding on another level of complexity that would do more the differentiate the aircraft's capabilities. But... Speaking of differentiating aircraft, one of my suggestions is to allow games that don't use all of the pilot ace capability. One problem with this game is that you can't play aircraft against aircraft with the more modern planes. There are so many ace capabilities that you have no idea what the real aircraft play like. I'd also like to see (in the local play) a button or something that would allow historical only combat. It's very frustrating, for instance, to be playing early polish aircraft and keep getting Japanese planes as opponents. More local game suggestions would be to have a local hall of honor or something so that your best pilots can be remembered. And perhaps allowing you to upload pilot pictures for local games. Not important but since you can do it on-line it shouldn't be much of a stretch for local gaming. I hope there will be more updates. I'm not holding my breath since the last official announcement was in over a year and a half ago. But maybe.. BTW, one last thing - wrong forum, but since I'm typing... For a bit more of a challenge, use 3 elements in a nationality, not 4. That can get pretty tense if you have some bad luck... `er
