  8. I said it non-precisely - i ment my method is similar to hisnot the same. I tested balistics of BPS in t-72, and i got best results with fixed distance set to 800m.
  9. sight T-34 has simple... more range estimator than range finder. It looks like triangle , at the right side of sight. Put target's silhouette inside that triangle and find point where top of tower is on upper line , and tracks on base line. Then read distance from scale over upper line. Triangle is scaled for targets about 2.7 m large as You see i read about 1200 m on triangle , range finder showed 60 m smaller distance Next You have to manually set distance on correct kind of sigth ( depends of ammo type)...and fire Personally i use method of Bobby Woll, a 8,8 cm virtuoso (Wittman's gunner) - i set my BPS sight to 800 m and dont change it [ December 16, 2005, 10:02 AM: Message edited by: Schmeisser ]

  11. I let myself to say few words about realism in t-72 game. Game is very flexible - allows to configure difficulty on very flexible way, on so called full realism, with my knowledge ( not so big of course) i cannot find anything what could be named 'arcade element'. Physics is excellent, ballistic seems to be also correct, dont know about weapon strenght but for me its ok. Basically game is HARD to play , and today it is in fact only one thing that makes diffrence between 'sim' and 'shooter' , becouse even totally arcade games ( doom3, call of duty) have very acceptable model of world, soon hardware Physics accelerators will be availble in shops... One thing is bad in T-72 - cooperation with other units, as a addicted flight sims maniac i used to have more controll over 'geschwader' or 'rotte' But in my opinion game engine is very advanced especially AI module. I think creators of t-72 found excellent ballance between realism and playability, and gave tool to controll that ballance ( advanced configuration tool) Too much realism - bad War isnt nice thing

  15. Ahh i didnt know this meaning of word 'wear' So, basically it is de-calibration of barrel, effecting in decrase of accuracy.
  16. FCS - fire control system When You want hit moving target You have to aim ahead of it , FCS let You aim directly in target, it adds 'correction for target's move' automaticaly, however it cannot 'track' target, this is part of Your job

BPS is armor piercing round - great one for bigger distance becouse of very flat trajectory, it allows You to hit target with very big probability, without correct range estimation ( lets say up to 1200 m ) OFS is - is kind of HE and APERS round , good against crawling tankers and light vehicles BKS is HEAT round - one shot to kill, unfortunatelly its very difficult to hit becouse it demands very correct range estimation. Deadly in 'close combat' You should place top of ^ on target Double range check in case of moving target is needed by fire control system to estimate parameters of gun deflection. Check range to target , then after 3 secs ( could be 2 secs, or 4 , but not more than 5 check again and fire gun, aiming directly in target , fcs should add deflection automaticaly. Personaly i dont like extreeme sports like looking 4 secs on Leo(n) The Proffesionalist in my sight without shooting and i estimate deflection myself, using simple formula : 1km of distance is 0.8 secs Sometimes range check is imposible becouse of distance to target ( target is too close or too far away) , becouse of weather or smoke. Then You have to manualy estimate range using so called artillery triangle visible in sight, disable FCS and manually set distance.

  20. Personally i better like to use armor piercing round against moving target, with dual range check - that way You provide data about target's move to FCS ,and it can estimate deflection of gun. I spare missiles for 'pearls' iike SprutB

Who cares, difficult not to hit at 80 m In last mission Leo The Cat camps between buildings , once i parked 20 meters from his ... engine and i was waiting. After 2 mins i decided that i was fair enough, and let myself to sent him small gift with Ma=3 speed.
  24. Long time ago i had really great computer. Commodore C-64 II and C1541 floppy drive. It had 64 kb of memory, typical mobile phone today has 20 times more memory ;D. I had tank sim - Steel Thunder , reallly great sim, i am serious. You could drive M48, M60 M1A1, Bradley. Your opponents were T-55/64/72/80, brdm, btm. Its construction was very similar to t-72 BiF - Player could change battlestations 'on the fly' - driver gunner we could customize ammo load Basically great game sorry for my little offtopic ;0
