  1. i finally dove into the editor to play with things. i opened the 39 campaign, made some changes, and hit "save". hourglass forever. ctrl-alt-delete showed the program is not responding. i rebooted and renamed the campaign and folder in file manager and tried again. same thing. so i simply started the editor, loaded that campaign, and clicked "save as". same thing. endless hourglass leading to the ctrl-alt-delete "end task" option. am i dont something wrong?

  3. ***ATTENTION*** everybody stop downloading until my download is finished. (11.5 kb/sec) i'm at 4%. make that 5%. thank you for your cooperation.
  4. 'm in a dilemma. in the demo, i see little things that could improve it for me, 2-d hex map being the main thing. the problem is, i don't want to do anything or have anything happen that would further push back the release of sc2. i've been waiting for what seems to be years now for this game. sc1 is one of my favorite pc games. i'm old school and it fits. sc2 is THE game i want to be playing right now. over the winter, i pulled out sc1 and spent another 4-6 weeks playing it. i probably have spent more time with that particular game running on my pc than any other game. civ would be a close second. i'm ready for sc2. i don't have to learn a new rules-set. i already know sc1 is good. i love its gameplay. so i've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting. most suggestions i've read here are good ones. i'm sure they are being considered by the designer. but dang. i'm ready to play whether it's perfect or not. the demo was such a tease and i appreciate it immensely. i'm going to fire it up after i finish this post. but i want to take gibralter and squeeze the allies. i want to see if i can go across the even vaster soviet union and be victorious. i want to be the russians and bleed the germans dry as they try to conquer this vaster expanse. i want to buckle down in the early years as the allies and bide my time until it's my turn to go on full offensive. i want to try to coax turkey to my side and invade russia from that angle also. i want to be england, on my last legs, and sit up with eager anticipation when america enters the fray. i'm ready. no more delays. let's get going with this.
  5. i loved the original. i'm an old grognard.hexes and turns are the first things i look for in a new game. i liked your mod, fantomas, and hope i can do the same. i think this should have been an option with the game. it's part of what i loved about the original. the game is similar enough to the original to allow me to jump right in and start getting used to what's new about it. there seems to be quite enough to keep me busy for the next few months. i played the demo a few times and can't wait for the full game to arrive.
  6. thank you. your post gave me enough info to get it running right. i needed to delete the prefs file to have another shot at it and i skipped down to 800x600 at 75 hz and it worked.
  7. i've had these two games for years running on 98. recently, i upgraded to xp with a radeon 9800 video card. when i start either game (cmbo has been updated, cmbb has not as yet), i get a dialog box with options for scan rate settings at res 800X600. it cycles through several options. no matter which option i select, the lower half of the control panel is offscreen. any suggestions? [edit] also, cmbo no longer asks for a scan rate/resolution but has settled into an unworkable one. i removed and reinstalled but it still does this.
