  1. Sir Any hints on a, c, and d above?
  2. *looks at scratched and marred Tacops CD* Well I guess I gotta call Household6 and let her know there's gonna be a charge on the creditcard
  3. hoo-boy!! A wish list for improvements to my favorite game. In no specific order they are: a) Smarter Helicopters! Aircav pilots live by masking behind trees and scanning. Their Tacops counterparts are not real good at this. Masking ought to be a flight level option. Also when shot at they run straight back, not very tactical. (of course I've never been in a Kiowa being engaged by a ZSU, I might just go straight back) Realistic Resupply. Clicking a button shames the young 88M sneaking a Hemmit up towards the frontline to do a FARP or a tailgate resupply. I know you can do a work around, but this is a wish list. c) Have arty fire blind grids better. The new gun systems are awesome and can get unobserved rounds on target in a few seconds and like my old PSG once said "Arty is way better than horseshoes or hand grenades" d) I want to build maps and have the AI analyze them and react. I also want a wet bar put in my Brad, but hey it's a wish list. Seriously though. I think a map editor for single player games would help old hands like me. I can't always find someone else to play and I really do have most of the maps memorized. Plus it'd be nice to do the local AO for training. e) Did they ever publish a fix for the savegame? Used to be I couldn't reload a saved game. I'd have Tacops miniaturized for days at work. Drove the IMO nuts. . . . I'm sure there's more, but this is all my caffeine addled brain can compile right now. As a disclaimer, I am not playing the latest version.
  4. Let me weigh in on this, even if a tad tardy. I am an old Cav guy who spent a few years patrolling the Meinnigan Gap and learned armored tactics from the jump seat of a Bradley. I flat out love this game. I have played a lot of armored sims both professionally and just for fun. This one has the easiest interface and cleanest game play of any of the "real" sims. I bought the original about ten years ago. I have used this as a tool to teach Transportation Corps Lts the joys of resupply in the fight and have used it in an Aviation TOC to teach young Ops soldiers how to battletrack. I have played it hundreds upon hundreds of times. I have map 001 burned into my brain, I know all the little spurs to hide behind to ambush the OPFOR with dismounts. The variables that the players can easily set make this the most highly replayable game I have ever seen. Every time I think I'm Sun Tsu, I pump the OPFOR to its max and cut my offboard arty... I'm soon reminded that I'm a middle aged German guy and not a thousand year old Chinese master. I was just out in the sandbox playing it for fun and one of my young clerk/typist types saw me. I had him hooked within 15 minutes. It's just the (almost) perfect game. Hell the Major ought to put me on the payroll. I bet I have sold 20+ copies over the years. Any student or fan of modern battle can use it. *climbs off soapbox* Thank you [ April 11, 2005, 08:52 AM: Message edited by: Cav Man Craig ]
  5. No Sir I am using a later version. The original was finally rendered unreadable after a few years and a few deployments. Not even sure of the version I am using now, I think it was the first republish. I was searching for scenarios and found it online a few years back. It has our northern brothers and southern cousins vehicles and OOB, plus a few more maps. Am I right in reading that you (the user) can create maps for Tacops4?
  6. Maj H I bought the original Tacops, what seems like a million years ago (although I think it was only ten). I still play it and use it as a base for my guys doing battle tracking in the TOC. My question is, and please forgive me if you've answered this a million other times, will there ever be more varied elevation/terrain in Tacops?
