Are you using Windows Vista? There are some known issues with Vista that match what you are describing.

I don't have an exact time frame for having a patch ready. I have a couple more things I want to try. Part of my problem is that I don't have Vista machine to test things out on, so it's somewhat of a trial and error process.

The verification code is used the first time you log onto the web site at DIF Web Site . Once you log in the first time, your account becomes active.

A number of players who have Windows Vista machines have reported problems with both the auto-updater and not being able to play online games.
A workaround reported by one user is to log onto Windows using the "administrator" login. Apparently this login has sufficient rights to get past whatever permission limitations that are causing the problems.

The server was down while having some additional memory added. It is back up now, and from what I can see the upgrade has resulted in a vast improvement in response time. Hopefully, you guys will see an improvement as well.

After you created the campaign, did you allocate your aircraft to attack or defend different regions on the campaign map?
Until there are contested regions on the campaign map, missions won't show up within the game to play. Take a close look at the player's manual for more information on how to setup and play campaign games.

A few users have reported the problem with not being able to see the target symbol. It usually is due to screen display settings.
Go to your control panel and select "Display", then click on the "Settings" tab. Click on the "Advanced" button and check the "DPI setting" to make sure it is "96 DPI".
Campaigns can be a little tricky to get going. Try going to page 20 of the DIF manual and read through the procedure carefully. If it still doesn't make sense, let us know and we can walk you through it.

Well said, Sixx. I'm in complete agreement.
By the way, Bride has asked me to delete the pilot with the HvH kills that he used to demonstrate how the system could be manipulated. I have removed those kills from the system.

There were no changes to the AI in any of the recent updates. All changes had to do with tracking human vs. human kills and awarding medals for shooting down human controlled pilots.
