  1. So, I gotta ask...

Demo Medals were given to all the pilots who were created during the beta-demo phase in September. This medal will never be given out again.

Is the Demo Medal cool, or not a big deal?

Either way is fine, I'm just trying to get a feel for what you guys think is cool.

  2. The Hurricane II gains most of its value from its inherent 2 burst rating. Being able to fire 2 bursts from neutral is a big advantage.

Future features are planned that will in a simple manner differentiate the characteristics of machineguns vs. cannons vs. very heavy cannons, like the 30mm.

The Spitfire IX is on the list of aircraft to be added. I think we even have stats for a couple versions of it.

As time goes by we plan on not only adding new aircraft and animations, but also updating the original aircraft models and animations. When you see problems with details like the Spitfire I having cannons depicted in the wings, or a paint job being non-historical, let us know.

  3. This might help, the starting altitudes of bombers is slightly randomized, but they tend to operate where bombers of that type usually operated.

Light Bombers can start at Very Low, (usually) Low, and Medium.

Medium Bombers at Low, (usually) Medium, and High.

Heavy Bombers at Medium, (usually) High, and Very High.

This will at least give you some idea as to what to expect for Escort and Intercept missions.

  4. No joke!

My eyeballs went dry a few times while reading and locked in place until I could drop in some water. (All in good fun.) smile.gif

Honestly, it's a great compliment when someone cares enough about a game to think of, and type in, long posts aimed at improving the game. It means they care, and there is no higher compliment. I really appreciate it.

  5. Austin,

The fixes and features and will continue to be added to the game on a regular basis.

The bugs found so far are in general connected with the diversity of people's individual system set-ups, and with features that we had not thought of.

For example, being able to play campaigns locally seems to be an issue for a significant number of people. None of the team ever considered this, but it has been brought to our attention, and it's now on the list of things to do.

Another example is that more than a few people seem to have some kind of problem with their system's Ariel font. This never popped-up during testing, so we didn't find out about it until the game went live. It's also on the list.

If you still feel that holding off on purchasing the game is your best option, then you must do as you feel best, but it really is a lot of fun and one by one the bugs will be fixed and the features will be added. Best of all, if you join now, you'll be able to tell people in a year or two, "You think that's a bug?! Well I remember when..."

  6. Kuroi,

This is an excellent idea. A while back I put together a document titled "DIF War" that outlines a similar idea to have a 'living' WWII happening for players to join.

As you suggested, players would join, discuss strategic options and fly missions to shift the balance of the war's progress. Once victory was achieved by either side, the whole thing would reset for a new war.

One aspect that I looked at, that I think will be fun is a simple resource system that would be part of that game. Basically, a player would gain points for destroying enemy targets. The player could then spend these points to build his own facilities such as airfields, factorys, ships, etc. The good point is, these targets would give his aircraft some benefit and help win the war. The bad point is, they would then appear on enemy 'target' lists and could be bombed. As part of his points, the player could build AIs to defend his facilities from attack.

My plan is for DIF to expand in both small ways, such as new aircraft and campaigns, and also in large ways, like the system outlined above. I appreciate your excitment for the game!

  7. I've now played about 20 games with both low and high level pilots against bots in 2v2 games.

I have tracked all the extra card draws used and have not seen any problems.

The only idea I can come up with is that the use of other skills is being seen as the Extra Card Draw skill.

    For example:

If a w/m has Leader Advice, his Leader gets a card at the start of his turn.

If a Leader has Aggressive, he gets a card when he becomes Advantaged/Tailing, or if he starts his turn that way.

If a Leader has Quick Reflexes he gets a card when he is selected as the target of an enemy aircraft.

When pilots have a lot of skills it is possible for them to draw several cards per turn without using Extra Card Draw.

  8. Stalin,

Sorry about all the problems you've been having.

Brian made some adjustments to the server settings recently, have you tried playing in the past day or so?

Also, we have noticed that people who are going through some kind of wireless connection seem to be having more problems.

From what you've sad, the problem seems to pop-up when you start a game. I'll be lurking in the lobby, if you have a chance, maybe we can experiment to further isolate the problem?
