Ok, ok! I just dislike the entire setting. First off, there is no history to be drawn upon. Even if we gain the freedom of forming our own scenarios we have, in my oppinion, lost so much more.

Second, why Syria? It's just Iraq under a different name. It sort of sickens me.

As I said earlier I'll probably buy it since I like the other games and want to support the company but wtf are you guys thinking when you place this game in the middle east in the near future?! Unless Syria got nukes they are more or less smoked in every battle that isn't so rigged that it got nothing to do with warfare or just plain boring to play... How many american casulties are there in Iraq now? Not that many. Is that because the Iraqs have a chance vs. the americans or are they just outgunned. Blah. I dislike this.

Since my english isn't better than this I now withdraw.

  2. I can feel it in the wind. The signs are clearer than ever. Peng now has quit the weed and challanged everyone, the depot is saddly gone and the bones are becoming frequent. the time for a new era is close. CMx2 will be released before this years end, mark my words.

Since the original poster invited me to consider the believers among them as somehow heroic and I know for a fact they are exactly the ones who were utter rogues and better off blown to atoms, I registered my violent disagreement with the sentiment. It is not like I am the one who brought it up. And there are no equivalences involved, no "whatever they believed" horsefeathers, as though that makes no difference when it makes all the difference in the world.

Your a very special creature Jason. So... straight ahead all the time.
  5. Well the upside is that the enemy can't see you, the down side is you can't hit the enemy. I mean 12 shots from ~100 meters in a current PBEM? And add to that about 18 shots from about 150 meters. Crews are green and regular. Is this normal or am I just unlucky?

  6. *********SPOILERS********************'

Ok, I'm on tun 15, I have a stern grip on the 2 large objectives but I have come to notice that hungarian tanks are crap. Even in keyholed positions and 1 on 1 I losse even if I get multiple penetration hits. They just suck. On the upside is my little mistress Nimrod who are spanking a russian squad really badly in the field behind the factory with the small objective. Nasty situation for them. Have put the 37 mm at gun in command of the center road through the village, seems to work great.

Ok a plane showed up and dropped hundreds of exploding muffins over the russian tanks. Took out a tankette. Now the problem is that the russians seem to have som great german equipement which the german allies lack. PZ IV that is. very bad the are using them to blow the houses up. I'm loosing men here. On the upside is a bitching nimrod that are harrasing russian squads at the factories, did I mention this before?

Very exiting tun now. Toldi shot a bt-5 to pieces. Lost some french crap due to a weak penetration, seems like thay only has those and no armor, got a PZ IV (supposedly) in the sigts of a bitchin nimrod on a field behind a factory and in the sights of the 37 mm at guns holding the main road. Stay tuned.

My tank hunters are throwing bottles with gasoline not grenades. Very annoing. The nimrod got multiple pens on the PZ IV but its not dead it just retreated. Bastards... Anyway, the Nimrod got a new target andso does the 37 mm. Haven't lost a tank in ages now, they are all dead except a nimrod behind the factory at that field.

Some russian plane shot at my nimrod. Didn't hit. Got the PZ IV with the 37 mm and also a bt 5. Got probs now. They are to many.

Ok more tanks coming in. Several tankettes also. Got a stuart burning, must have those modded. Another PZ IV showed up. Damn. Got som reinf also. Driving them to the left most objective which is under heavy attack.

My Nimrod from hell drove up behind the advancing russians. Is now entangled in a head on fight with a Stuart! Damn AI. So confused that it faces all directions at once.

The flanking with the Nimrod worked so well that I'll try it with the reinf of 38's I just got. The russians are making progress now, dunno if I can halt them.

Oh no! He got the Nimrod. My heroin....

    Ok, chaos now.

It reminds me of odd tanks parade.

    Oh come on..

Stall the axis... Yeah right :)

    Ok ruskies are finished...

Ok, finished. Major vic., no enemy AFVS alive left.

You know what made this a great scenario in my op? It was very dependent on your initial approach and decisions. And in every new sitiution you could adapt. lots of options is the way to go for a great game. Would be more fair in a HTH game though.

This in my mind suggests, which might be wrong prob is, that when one has a scenario where the median is say 50% but a lot of people managed to get say 75% you wont get the hight points until you get above that limit.

Ahhh...I think I may see something. Or maybe I'm just getting really tired.

The above is probably true, but only within the scores for a given side, since all the nambla scoring seems to deal only with one side at a time (if I am reading the abstract right).

But it doesn't take account of relating scores from opposite sides of the same scenario, so it seems.

Again I go back to the above example, both WN and JonL did almost as well as they possibly could for their respective sides, but the nabla scores differed by a factor of four.

Reasoning skills faltering...time for bed... </font>

  8. The way I see it is like this:

We take the median. If we have a group of players, say 17, and 9 of them suck (I mean it) then the median might be say... 17%. Now assume that 3 players are great (say they get 50% out of the scenario) and the other 5 avarage (say 35%) then we want the NABLA to give high scores when you pass 35%, right? That is why we calculate the standard deviation, it will have the same "point sum" but will be "distributed" differently along the axis. So a maximum deviation from the median will give the same score but +-15% will not. At least that is the way it should work. I'm drunk... Sorry.
