  1. thank you for the reply but would anyone know if it is possible to just disable it instead as some of the games I play require it.
  2. I decided to give the WEGO or turn based system a run as it loved it in the CMx1 games and after being a bit overwhelmed at times with the real time play it was a natural choice. Now don't get me wrong i like the real time but small battles are it for me to much to keep track of and well I feel I am missing to much of the action. So I chose a Battle "Al Hawl" and proceeded to organize my strykers and give orders. Image 1 is the general order I gave them, All given a fast move order. the orders were given as groups selected with the group selection tool. 4 groups 4 orders. Image 1 Once I hit the go button I was set laughing as one of the strykers decided to do a bit of showing off by double timing at 3 time the speed of the others of its group. Image 2 shows this, note the time on the clock. Image 2 So I think nothing of it in general as I have seen a few humorous glitches in real time, ala floating men and such but what happened next was as sad as it was funny. a few moments before the action phase was over i.e. 10 seconds maybe all the troops except the speed demon instantly teleported to the opposite corner of the map. Image 3 and 4 show this. Image 3 Image 4 I was able to get the shots because this occured in the replay i.e. but the game locked before I could get more. I am currently trying to reproduce this but as of yet i have not been able to. My system specs are. AMD 64 X2 5200 socket AM2 2 gigs 6400 G.Skill Nvidia 8800 gts 320ram 162.18 driver ASUS M2N-E NVIDIA nForce 570 Windows XP Pro SP2
  3. Whats really funny to me is when a company thinks that selling a lot of there game in the first month or two is a sure sign everyone loves it. I.E. totally bypassing the possibility that the earliest consumers are your most loyal fans and or those who eagerly bought the hype. Many people will load a game, play it, and never touch it again because they dislike it and not even utter a sound. Sales in the short run are a measure of reputation and marketing, sales in the long are a measure of quality. And, I must agree there is the distinct impression from the more defensive members that if you don't like it either your not giving it its proper dues or your just defunct. The game has potential and i continue to tinker with it but it is in my opinion lacking in some important departments, and I hope that the over zealousness being shown here in these forums by its defenders does not hinder the best possible outcome for this games future.
  4. Let me clarify what i mean by there being a marginal AI. When playing an SP mission the strategic conditions are for the most part set in stone, i.e. through triggers connected to rect zones and points for the enemy to act accordingly. Now what it does while you fire at it in the process is left to a tactical AI of sorts but it still makes every effort to follow the letter of the law governed by the mission makers strategic layout because it has no strategic AI. CM has both layers of AI a Strategic and Tactical. So yes ToW has an AI but it's a shallow one. Blaine
  5. I don't post here much but i have been around the battlefront forums since CMBO and on till now. I followed TOW through its evolution, de-evolution and said rebirth through battlefronts guiding hand. Now as it has been said I think the biggest problem here lies in the A.I. If one takes the time as to review the Triggers and Rect Doc to begin understanding the mission editor the AI flaws become hugely apparent, i.e. there is barely any A.I. to begin with. The Missions are almost entirely scripted with trigger points and rect zones leaving the individual units marginally thinking for themselves making every play of a mission 98% the same. Therefor, making each mission a puzzle solving task not a dynamic strategy test. So that leaves MP as this games only saving grace but wait MP is a farce in its own right with a laundry list of game breaking issues. So to Battlefront I say if you invest any time into this lump of code it better be in the MP facet because the SP is short lived by design and there will be only a few who will be able to make missions that are up to par, considering the ones shipped barely are. Now i know that all sounds harsh but i will also add that i will surely continue to follow the progress of ToW as it still has potential and that potential will only happen if 1C, Battlefront, and the community work together to bring it to light. And to do my part i will continue to rip apart the mission editor to understand it until i can attempt to be one of those few who can make a really good mission. Blaine
