  1. I am also a newbie and my knowledge of WWII equipment is basically Sherman's would have been very good tanks in 1939 but are used in 1944. 5th Ghoster Go East - or something like that - is a huge pain, I played that first. I don't recommend it for a newbie. I found the smaller scenarios easier to play first. But not the Devil scenario, it is set at night which was hard for me to deal with as a newbie. My recommendation is look for smaller scenarios and meeting engagements. Attacking entrenched positions requires some finess I don't have yet.
  2. the banter is one of the reasons my friend and I will play a game for 2 hours then talk on the phone about it for 4 hours going over it point by point
  3. you also need to decide what winning is for you. the Americans had the numbers to win the war. They basically just needed to trade lives for ground. They had more soldiers then the Germans. but the goal of a commander should be winning at minimal cost, not butching their entire armor force while taking an objective.
  4. The scenarios have fog of war, limited briefings, etc. That means the first time you play it you will not know nearly as much as the second and subsequent times. Once you throw in artillery, knowing the enemy set-up, strengths, etc a scenario plays very differently after the first time. So do you design scenarios focused on the first time experience? Or do you worry more about replay value? And if you download scenarios are you looking for a single fog of war experience or for a scenario you can replay to master?
  5. First, I have CMBO only. I like making maps. I will post a couple soon (I'm typing this from work). I do create scenarios with units, briefings, etc. I am naturally desirous of praise for my efforts, so I would love to post them for others to enjoy. Are people interested in getting maps that they can add their own units and scenarios to, or full fledged scenarios they can download and play?
  6. I really like immersion but get it more from FPS. I have to say that the more I look at the details in the game the more interested I am. Like watching a squad throw a grenade into a pillbox, or a flak gun rotate around with the guy on it. The detail is amazing. I'm not used to that in this type of game so I haven't really looked for it. I get more immersion setting up the maps and scenarios.
