  1. It's all nice and good, but it think that with the current circumstance any US involovement in syria will cause Israel to join.

Now, the big qustion is where will the US forces will enter Syria from, Iraq? Turkey? or from the sea.

In this case Syria will handle 2 front, which with the currnet quality of the Syrian army is not good news for them.

You also have to remember that the Syrian army is under traind, maybe even less traind the Hizballah.

  2. Especially in Lebanon, i suppose that you are familiar with the main export of the Baqqa valley in the east of Lebanon.

Up until recently Hashish was Lebanon's main exporting.

Druing Israel's occupation of S. Lebenon which ended in 2000, most of the Hashish found it's way into Israel, you could say that Israel had much to do with the wellfare of the Baqqa valley farmers. smile.gif

I see it more like this:

Hizballah provokes Israel for 6 years since Israel left S. Lebanon in May 2000, Hizballah kiddnaping 2 Israeli soldiers and kills 8, Israel as a respones say: "We are now going to kick your ass so next time you'll remember what the IDF can do that you have forgot during the last 6 years".

  4. From Wikipedia:

Terrorism refers to a strategy of using violence, or threat of violence targeted against non-combatants to generate fear, cause disruption, and ultimately, to bring about compliance with specific political, religious, ideological, and personal demands.[1] The targets of terrorist attacks typically are not the individuals who are killed, injured, or taken hostage, but rather the societies to which these individuals belong. Terrorism is a type of unconventional warfare designed to weaken or supplant existing political landscapes through capitulation or acquiescence, as opposed to subversion or direct military action. The broader influence of terrorism in the modern world is often attributed to the dramatic focus of mass media in amplifying feelings of intense fear and anger.

So, by this definition Hizballah is a terror organization and it's "militants" are terrorists.

They shoot rockets into civilian centres, kiddnaping people for political gain and use fear as a means to get their goals.

Thanks for the most interesting pictures and the clarification of the Merkava crew's status. Am not quite sure whether in the primary impact zone I'm looking at the aftermath of ERA detonation, significant damage to the outer layers of a Chobham

type armor array, or both. What seem to be studs to hold ERA may very well be spacers to keep armor layers apart. Hard to say, since I've never seen this kind of hit before, let alone such good pictures. Also, it's been reported Israel was mobilizing thousands of reserves. Are you on that list? Finally, am presuming fire extinguishers on your AFVs are not like the toxic ones Warsaw Pact vehicles used to carry, but more like Halon or similar.

    Rankorian,

Superb, thoughtful, and well argued post!

    Regards,

    John Kettler

    Thanks John,

I am not in the reserves lists right now, but if the war will go wider, i might be called in to service.

About the fire extinguishers, you are right they are some kind of Halon gas, but you really dont want to breath it more than 10 seconeds, longer exposure could lead to lung edema.

Suddenly an explosion hit's the lead tank. (Actually, I can't tell if the tanks are lined up headed LEFT to RIGHT, or vice-versa. Apon repeat viewing, it looks like they are headed LEFT to RIGHT, so the explosion occurs on the REAR tank.)

Then you see 2 to 3 crewmen jumping off the tank.

    Amazing.

The crew was lightly injured and came back to the fighting a few hours later.

They had to bail out because of the fire extiguising system went off due to the impact of the AT missile, but, by looking at the impact i think it was some recoiless gun firing.

  7. Maybe the new CM game should have some sort of a "chaos" engine that will produce the surprises that a real combat should produce.

Let's say that your company get hit by chemical warfare, and while they run away you call for air support and guess what happens? friendly fire! and each time you'll try to re-do the combat the results will be different, even the weapones the enemy uses against you will change.

Please cite your source or sources. Am sure you'd agree that what you're saying flatly contradicts the TIME report. Mind, I have my own issues with that publication, its founder, and journalistic approach.

I know many people in the IDF who some of them are in lebanon, including my brother who's an infantry soldier, so when i say first hand, i really mean it.

Khane, you're doing here a hell of a job, great going! smile.gif

    At least three Merkava's destroyed.

    Time

Well, i know from first hand that the Mk.4 Merkavas were'nt destory, they were'nt even penetrated, the injuries were inflicted by the blast of the rocket hitting.

The Merkavas are still operational, only with new crews.

  10. Four days ago the villege of Maroun Al-Ras has fell into a combined force of special forces mounted on APC's, tanks and heavy air support, what i'm saying? It's exactly CM:SF scenario, a special combined force is taking control over a hostile villege. smile.gif

So what do you say, could the whole game now turn into an IDF game in Lebanon or Syria? could it happen?

The Lebanese are about to teach Oren’s squadron a true lesson in Asymmetrical warfare; the good news for oren is he will have a nice delicacy named after him, “Oren on The Cob”.

Doubtless the rest of his squadron’s tanks will serve as a well needed recycling outlet for machine shop small arms manufacturing. After they finish roasting that is.

You're an idiot! have a nice day. smile.gif

  12. Great, now back to Iran, maybe just an air strike would'nt happen, but what about SF operation?

The US army has lots of them stationed in Iraq, Saudi arabia an the Emirates, ofcours it would be very simple to insert them to the Iranian borders, but it could be very usful.

I think it could be done just like the SF did it in Afganistan, they could call in air strikes and attack the facilities from the ground using explosives.
