  1. Eastern front, serious studies. I've been browsing the forum, and am impressed by the level of knowledge on display here. So, I'm requesting help in navigating the jungle of available literature on the eastern front. I'd like to avoid the coffee table volumes with lots of pictures, and focus on the serious books that i can learn something new from. I'm aware of Glantz already, but perhaps you can enlighten me as far as any equivalent authors go.
  2. I found them already. Saw an old post of yours back on page 40 or so about them. Great effort! Much appreciated. The packs have made life easier for me. I can find a scenario on the battle i'm interested in without having to trawl the internet or the scenario menu for an hour. I'm moving on from Barbarossa to Fall Blau now. Amazon just delivered Glantz's Stalingrad trilogy.
  3. Its a bit late, and i realize that the scenario is already made, but in case anyone wants it here are some figures. SS-Division "Totenkopf" (Feb43) From Schiffer Military History - Panzertruppen Vol.2 - Germany's Tank Force 1943-45 71 PzIII(lg), 10 PzIII(75), 22 PzIV(lg), 9 PzVI, 9 PzBef PS Sorry for reviving the thread from page 5... Edit: spelling.
  4. Thank you both. I have already started downloading some scenarios from both sites, as well as the scenario depot. Having a blast re-creating battles from the 1941 campaign; the fact that i seem to have lost whatever tactical know-how i once had doesn't matter.
  5. Hello everyone, I just got back into CMBB after finding it works on my laptop. However, all the websites where i used to download scenarios are down. Is there a place to find my old favorites again?
  6. Im pretty sure its in the game. Might not be called Nebelwerfer though. But most of the German rocket artillery should be this kind of thing. Im sure someone who knows will be along shortly though...
  7. "Poetry? Classical music? What's next, self-indulgent pedestrian philosophy?" How about Nietsche? Who, by the way is too hard to spell, so, ahem,
  8. Being a beginner, every scenario seems like an inferno to me... By the way, this thread seems very angry...
  9. Poetry is only boring if you read the wrong ones! The toil of all that be does not help the primal fault; it rains into the sea and still the sea is salt. A.E. Housman But then, as they say, De gustibus non est disputandum. (tastes cannot be discussed)
  10. For me hearing Russians and Germans speak their native languages makes the game better. If i dont understand what they say i usually ask someone who knows if it bothers me. But as im swedish, i can understand german without too many problems, and as i usually play the german side, i dont feel i should understand russian. I never understood why people want to have "dubbed" voices. To me it lends a feeling of second rate american war films (which can be good in their own way, but those fake accents usually kill them for me). Recently someone mentioned that not understanding what the people on your side say kills the immersion for him. That shed a little bit of light on the issue for me, but being fairly arrogant, i still think if it bothers you then learn what the words mean! That said, as i dont have to use the mod i say go for it. It cant hurt to make the game appeal to more people!!
  11. Ive recently finished Berlin the downfall 1945 by Antony Beavor. I do not recall any mention of anyone firing from inside a building, other than tank hunters firing from cellar windows. Every other mention of defenders using buildings places them on the roof-tops, or possibly in specially fortefied buildings. Maybe the roof top thing is included in the "top floor in the game? It would certainly eliminate the hazards of firing out of a window!
