  1. I tend to maneuver my AFV's around on HUNT for the entire battle , unless of course there is a fair distance from set up to the area of ops.

I am quite fearful of overriding the TacAI into shooting at a "maybe" target , when the individual tanks seem to have the best idea of their situation at hand.

I think an "auto TacAI" shoot and scoot tactic would be good , where you simply select a target , hit a hotkey .. the tank takes a single shot and moves to where IT thinks is the best hull down type position/location.... or maybe it already does this .... I need to take a pill and go and have a lay down...

  2. It is possible to place Bunkers "hull down". I wonder if this is the case, then it might be more intimidating for the infantry to attack. I did this recently in a QB , there must have been two Companies of crack Soviet Infantry charging up this narrow defile to get to the bunker, on several occasions some squads got quite close but were unable to expedite a breach into the bunker!

Mind you my bunker took about 110 casualties, talk about WW1 type stuff! :D

  3. OH! Casualties are set to whatever "normal" is

OH wait! It was set to random! redface.gif

Still , you shouldn't really remove a spotting unit simply because of casulties for arguments sake... I mean there are only 2 guys in the unit! So if for some reason the unit had more than 50% casualties , you dont get the unit? And as far as tanks go , casualties apply to the number of tanks AS WELL as the number of crewmen

  4. This QB generator , where you buy units , no matter WHAT configuration I try I can never get the quantity of units I purchase to appear on the map!

I just fought a QB "Axis Probe" . 3000 points. The AI playing the Axis selected it's own troops. I was playing the Soviets.

    I buy a 5 tank platoon , I get 3 tanks. I bought 3 arty spotters , none appeared at the setup. I bought 6 ATG's , I get 3! Whats the poop

I have checked the effects of the "weakened units" setting several times , no effect. What do I have to do to get my units that I buy , to appear at setup VERBATIM ??

  5. Well I think the game must simulate some intel or forward recce on the part of the defenders, otherwise you wouldn't see everybody standing to , manning their guns, taking their place in trenches and sitting in vehicles with engines running, just when the badguys attack.

I'm not sure how padlocking works , but perhaps a more realistic defense senario would be to padlock certain units inside buildings and vehicles in rear areas for a round or two , to simulate troops enjoying some R & R blissfully unaware of the hell that is about to be unleashed upon them! :D

OH I forgot, particularly that FO who would be kicking back with the Officers in some bunker out of harms way and NOT sitting in that foxhole with a commanding view of the field from round one!

  6. Ok , doing my best Monty Python " It's ONLY a model!".

    :D

This 1/16th will set you back $750 + shipping.

The reason why I am posting is to lend some inspiration to all you KT modders out there...

to paraphrase .... "finished with 6 coats (white primer, desert brown base, dark green camo, reddish brown camo, white winter camo, rusting effects and top coat) of Tamyia acrylic model paints (Zimmerit Anti-Magnetic Coating Also Applied). The camouflage pattern reflects the winter Russian campaign in late autumn of 1944s. Although the appropriate decals and insignias are not applied to the tank yet, but the sticker sets are included for the owner to finish. This tank could be model as either No. 313 or No. 334 of the 503rd heavy tank battalion. There exist more darkish red tone on the tank to reflect the eastern front scenario. It is top off with lichen vegetation distributed across strategically to elegantly conceal into the silhouette of the country side".

Their words, not mine ... still , quite a handsome KT I would suggest? smile.gif

  7. Esteemed Grogs,

Is it me or has something changed in vers 1.03c BETA. My self propelled arty cannot fire on a TRP , from original setup positions. I don't recall LOS being an issue with TRP's? Have I got it wrong? Do I need to have a glass of decent brandy and retire for the eve, whilst you chaps nut it out for me?

  8. In CMBO you could place guns, even pillboxes I think, in buildings if you placed the unit on the map and then went back to the editor and placed building on top of gun. I have done this in CMBO but not tried with CMBB. I will check when I get home.

Yes you can do this in CMBB , I recently played a senario where I was suprised to see a bunker placed inside a light house!
  9. Any AT minefield damage from my Arty is normally a "bonus". I havent specifically targeted ATmf's , proly because there are usually many different ways of going around them and my Arty are usually busy pounding the bejesus out of the Inf/soft targets. I'm not sure I even have the patience to DEMO the minefields using Engineers and Pioneers proly because there is way too much else going on that demands my attention, unless of course it was a senario specifically setup to deal with clearing obstacles under fire and what have you.

  11. I just completed a QB against the AI. Amongst many units , I purchased a single Stuka Dive Bomber (Vet) for, I think it was 267 points. It was the most expensive aircraft availible (which normally catches my eye when I go shopping ;) . I looked at its' stats , aside from its bombs it mentions something about "number of strafing runs" (or something). For this aircraft it was 11 , so I thought KOOL! Thats me right there I will takes one of those please....

It's timing over the battlefield was impeccable , the Ruskies were grouped together in HUGE Infantry formations akin to a "Zulu" charge... the Stuka showed up, dropped its bombs and BUGGERED OFF!! I felt cheated!! Where were my "11" strafing runs!?!? Why was this plane so darn expensive if it just drops its payload and scarpers?? I have seen on numerous occasions aircraft making strafing run after strafing run to my absolute delight (now THATS what I call dollar value)! But this description specificallly states "x" number of strafing runs.. bugger

Also has anyone ever played a QB where the AI purchases aircraft?? I am at the point where AA assests are a waste of time vs AI , in a QB.

    ta,

  12. Esteemed Grogs,

On several occasions now I have purchased "5" tanks (Platoon) on the Unit Purchase screen thingie , but I only get "3" Tanks on the map! Also last night , amongst many other units I purchased a Sturm Tiger at GREAT cost but lo and behold , at set up I didnt get it , it was nowhere to be seen! I haven't exceeded points expenditure or anything , not that it makes a difference since you cannot advance to the setup if you do, but I was wondering if somebody could explain to me whats going on. Why aren't I getting my full compliments of units?
