If you want to pause the Email-Replay of your opponents turn, all you need to do is to press the Pause/Break key on the right half of the keyboard, which can be typically found near the number pad.
Thanks to Michal T for asking, and for Hubert for answering!

I only print manuals for board games, all other manuals i read on my computer
Long story short: best would be to refill or replace your printer. Everything else will male your live much more complicated.
-
My printer is on strike, so I thought I was being brilliant by bringing the game cd's to a print store (Staples Stores are fairly reasonable) to have them produce copies of the manuals. Not so fast! They would have to download the whole game in order to do a print or prints, that's a NO-NO for them to do (guess the managers don't like employees playing games on store computers, thus not getting nothing done, that's funny for that's what I do every day). Damn it, went home thinking of a solution.. Ahhh! I know what I can do! I'll burn a manual onto a blank disk, then bring that back to the store, I'm all excited now! Another problem, my pc won't burn the manual onto a disk (CD-R 700MB), never burned a disk before in the 16 years owning computers, so I am at a loss on what to do? Maybe I need one of those special disk burning devices installed into pc, don't know? Back to square one..... ????
Gee! I wish these games came with printed manuals!!!! Or, at least have a way for a print shop to download the manual without a lot of fuss from the game cd! Heck, I'd buy a manual if you had a spare one....
PS, Next time you put a game out there, give it a little more thought as to how a customer can have a printed manual.
You could use a USB-Stick for the same purpose, of course.

Hi operating.
I guess you missed this forum thread, which was created especially for new players.
Maybe you can find some nice hints there.
-
Hi TGarner.
You have to attend to them yourself.
Good news is, that you don't have to use much of your time to do so.
It is really easy, simple and quickly done every other turn.

You're welcome, Kettengeist, and welcome to the Forum!

Hi operating, and welcome to this forum!
I may be wrong, but I think there is no screenshot function within the game.
At least i do my by pressing the print key on my keyboard, next thing is to Tab-out of the game and paste the captured screen into paint shop, and from there i save it.
To uploads i use photobucket.com.
Btw.:
while you wait for your game, you might want to read this forum thread:

You could try to block the entrance to the adriatic sea, at least for a time. The AH sub could help a bit as a naval mine. If your opponent unexpectetly stumble into your sub, there is hell to pay for him. I've played games where such a rush ended in disaster for the Entente player, and i saw quite the opposite. But i can understand your pain. In situations like this I've always wished that the game engine would allow stacking, at least within ports...

Hi shri!
Just in case that you haven't already found this thread on your own:
this forum offers a very nice introduction of the game mechanics. Feel free to read it, as this will surely help you in your games against human players, or the AI (btw.: good decision to play Pbem! It is way much more fun than playing the AI)..
Cheers

Both are great combinations. Both are worth their money.
Which is better?
Maybe, MAYBE, the answer to this question is WW1 & Breakthrough.
You get WW1, WW2 and the Russian Revolution campaigns.
But Global Conflict Gold is great too.
From my point of view both combinations are better than AoD and AoC, for a couple of reasons. But that is only my opinion.

Russia out of war - this reminds me of my last game against the Entente AI (Breakthrough- 1914 call to arms).
Even though Russia had already signed the treaty of Brest-Litowsk, Romania declared war on the CP. And during the very same turn Romania sued for peace, without any shot fired.
Not sure if there will ever be another patch, but if you plan to do one, maybe you could at least let the Romanians have some turns of war before they surrender.
Else this makes no sense at all.

Hi steelwarrio77.

Are you talking about "last turn summary"?
That would the key "L".
The Hotkeys are listed in the manuals...
Having said this, I'm always glad to help:
Hotkeys (quoted from the Global Conquest manual)
G – Turn the map tile grid on or off
H – Temporarily hide all units on the map
N – Select the next active unit that has not yet moved
New! L – Displays the last turn's summaries for reference
New! P – Shows the location of potential enemy partisan activity.
New! S – Shows the level of supply your forces currently receive, along with a prediction of how much they will receive if venturing into enemy territory.
arrows – Scroll map left, right, up or down
Ctrl-E – End Turn
Ctrl-P – Purchase Units
Ctrl-N – New Units
Ctrl-M – Maps
Ctrl-R – Research
Ctrl-D – Diplomacy
Ctrl-I – Reports
Ctrl-O – Options
Ctrl-S – Save
Ctrl-Q – Quit
Hotkeys (quoted from AoD expansion notes):
‘S’ hotkey now shows current supply, followed by the predicted supply of your next turn, the second time you press the 'S' key.
'L' Hotkey no longer removes the last turn summaries from memory as this information can now be re-accessed until the end of the turn
New 'R' hotkey introduced that will toggle the display of reinforceable units on the map, displayed by a blue unit strength number.
New 'U' hotkey introduced that will toggle the display of upgradeable units

Maybe there were indian units, surrendering after India went out of the war?

Hi sanderz!
Here is a link with some very helpful information for new players. Ok, it was written for SC World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918, but many informations (like swapping etc. )are true for SC Global Conquest as well.
Greetings

Hi English Ender.
I have to admit that I never really played much of SOE.
But my uneducated guess is that these are scripted events to help the AI which might have else too many problems to invade in Norway / build up a worth African force.
I fear that you won't be able to stop these events, nor will you be able to trigger them while you play the Axis.
I may be wrong, though (see above).

Hi Philippe.
To play Breakthrough! you do need The Great War, it is not a stand-alone game.
With The Great War and the Breakthrough! Add-on you have tons of great campaigns, but unfortunately no Caporetto offensive campaign.
I guess its safe to say that the auto-function won't place the pieces historical correct. I just tested in the 1.05 version of the game. The Auto-function placed an HQ and two cavallery units into East-Prussia, and the Heavy Artillery into southern Germany, so it won't be ready to help in the Belgium invasion.
I assume that you would need to play The Great War to get the historical correct unit placement automatically. You're of course free to place all your units accordingly to the historical correct setup. But if you prefer not to place anything, than the Auto-Function won't give you much joy.
-
Absolutly right, Rankorian!
-
If i remember correctly than units suffer if they are below strength 10.
-
An yet I've never played a single ladder game in my entire life, and still had plenty of great pbem games all around the world.
Which patch?
in Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918
Posted
The Breakthrough patch, as it incluces everything else.
