  1. I highly agree to the continue battle option. Most offensive scenarios - me attacking the AI - have one of two out comes: A. I move way too cautiously and the battle ends with me far short of the flags or, B. I charge the machine guns/AT guns with 2 or 3 turns to go. My troops/tanks get slaughtered :( and I'm lucky to eek out a marginal victory.

I prefer the cautious method, throw in a few extra turns and I could win a few more scenarios.

  2. You can look at the CPU temp in by entering BIOS setup. You should see it there. AMD says 65C(?) is smoke city - check at their web site for exact specs. I bought a machine in the winter and never noticed the heat, in following summer it started giving me problems. The slime dog I bougth it from put in in a very small case - no fans front or rear. Not even any openings for a rear fan. Also the PwrSup was about 3/4 of an inch from the CPU heat sink. The cure was a new case. A bigger case moved the PwrSup up 6 inches and one fan front sucking and 1 fan rear blowing. I'm a happy wargamer.

  3. Music? If you want music try a Pink Floyd CD. ;)

5 button mouse? - Wow that's 4 more than on my MAC Mouse. :D

The CMBB series is not a highspeed mouse-eye coordination game. You have plenty of time to think between moves. Plenty of time to adjust the views using the on screen GUI or the Hotkeys.

Sit back relax and cook a few Panzers with your Molotov cocktails.

  4. Didn't you see the smoke? ;) I burned all my other games the day after CMBO and CMBB arrived in the mail.

Alright I'll admit to a few rounds of Freecell here and there. And a some Bejeweled on the palm pilot.

Before the CD sacrifice it was Medal of Honor, Empire Earth, WarCraft3, many others.

I actually found CMBO/CMBB while searching for TACOPs. A game I had played in the late nineties when it was on MAC only.

Six months of nothing but CMBO/CMBB. :D

  5. I've got another lame but effective defense.

In a meeting engagenemt, race like hell to the center victory flags, then fight a defensive battle with nearly equal forces. I took the Germans in "van Lauchert" kursk scenario. I lost one tank in the mopping up stage. The Russians lost 56. 18 men to 260. 10 of those were a squad I sent to scout for USSR infantry.

    Lame-o but effective.

  6. Yep, I'm USofA all the way!!. I once owned an Aussie Cattle Dog aka Queensland Heeler. The beast was more Dingo than dog. 40 pounds of fury, smartest animal going. A one family dog. My 13 month old once took a steak bone out of her mouth - no problem, just a very sad dog. Two days later she nearly bit the foot off a friend that I had argued with about where you can get the best Polish sausage in America. I say Scranton Pa.

13 years old when we put her down still smart and alert. She lost all control of a leg and couldn't get up. If I think about the vets office that final day... :( Well back to CMBO - USA all the way.

  7. The Phases of the CMBB player was pretty funny and REALISTIC. I'm a 30 day Vet as of today today.

Is it worth it?? Remember tho old AH games came with a post card to get the catalog mailed to a friend "if they have the necessary grey matter"...

    Well Mr 123POOP,

You were smart enuff to buy the game therefore you obviously have the grey matter to learn and master the game.

Stick with it, it is worth it.
