Dynamic/ Semi Dynamic Campaigns.....???
Charlie901 replied to Charlie901's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Great! I understand that the battles have to be somewhat predetermined but will there be any incentive to conserve your forces. For example; will fatigue carry over form one battle to the next or experience gain or even fallen/injured squad members? If there is no carry over of forces between battles or experience/fatigue/injuries what's to pevent us from issuing non-tactical suicidal orders just to get through the battle so that we can fight the next one with fresh/new units? I don't really need a dynamic campaign, as long as we can design and DL Operations like in CM1. But I really liked how you could retain and build on your original forces with added units, via purchase points, in Close Combat. It really forced me to play "Smart" and not sacrifice my men so that it made the going easier as the campaign progressed. Anyway, this looks to be an awesome game but please take your time and pack in as many of those last minute items as you all can. -
Any word yet on whether your actions/inactions in a particular battle effect the next battle within a Campaign/Operation. Or do the Campaigns/Operations follow a linear set path regardless? For replayability sake of the main Story-Driven Campaign/Operation I would love to see some dynamic aspects involved.

Since so many improvements have been apparently made, to the original game, since it was released in Russia, I do want to DL the old Russian language version. Is there going to be a new Demo and if so when will it be availible?

Is it a Semi/Dynamic Campaign engine or does it follow a linear mission list. Also with 18 Campaign missions how long would it take an average gamer to finish in total hours? I'm glad the Tank sims are finally comming back! I also hope to see a WWII Tank game based on this same engine some day (Drool!)

HELP! Gridlines on road when playing CMAK...???
Charlie901 replied to Charlie901's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Yup correct! I will try some other drivers and see if that helps. B.T.W. This is occurring when playing, not in editor mode. -
I ordered 2 copies of CMAK on 11/30/04 to give as Xmas presents, got the confirmation email that the order was successfully placed and here I am still waiting. Aparently Matt wrote me and stated there was a problem at the shipper for all orders placed on 11/30/04. So here I sit, still waiting in Florida, and was wondering if anyone else had this problem? This is why I hate buying software by ordering over the net. Give me a retail store any day of the week over this aggravation.

Where is my copy of the game?

Thanks, I'll wait a couple of more days before emailing Matt just too see if my order shows up first. -

I live in Florida and according to my order copy it says 2 days for order processing and 5 to 7 days for shipping for where I live. I'm gettting nervous that it won't be here for X-mas? -
Question regarding permanent tiger I losses...
Charlie901 replied to dizee's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
You have to read the original post. It said "Tigers written off". Which I assume means lost in combat due to enemy tank fire. I'm sure many were abandoned (lack of fuel or replaceable parts) or destroyed by allied air power before even reaching the front. -
Question regarding permanent tiger I losses...
Charlie901 replied to dizee's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
If your reading the book "Panzer Aces" you will get an idea of the destructive power of a Tiger and a well trained crew who use suprise and terrain to their advantage. Just keep reading. It is an excellent book. Time and time again I read how a lonely tank crew (usually in a Tiger), that was well disciplined and had their tank in an optimum position, fought against enemies that used a mass tank rush out in the open. Usually these tanks were trying to fire on the move with optics that weren't as good as the German's. Add in the fact that most of the Russian tanks had no radios so they could let each other know where the fire was comming from and you have a recipe for disaster. So to answer your question I think it was definately possible. -
I really like CMBB but I am a tank battle fanatic. Is CMAK that much improved over CMBB or should I just stick with what I have? Putting the different units, territories, and terrain aside does CMAK represent a moderate improvement in gameplay and graphics (i.e. Is it as much a leap forward as CMBB was to CMBO?). I guess at this point I'm not completely sold on the different terrain and units enough to warrant a purchase if everything else has remained basically the same. However, I like CMBB so much that any noted improvements in the core game might sway me to order CMAK. Can anyone give me some advice or a little nudge?

Don't have to even model the hatch lid in the open position, rather the hatch lid could be missing for an abandoned/knocked out tank showing a black hole where the opening to the interior of the tank is. IMHO this would add some visual aids to an identified abandoned or knocked out tank on the battlefield. Besides all the old WWII photos I've seen showing abandoned/knocked out tanks show the hatches missing or open.
