  1. After doing some experimenting, I'm trying to figure out how to use ski troops given the fact that they seem to give up their skis under fire. Does anyone have a link or a reference in the manual that details exactly when ski troops lose their skis? (I saw in the 1.1 patch that going into buildings will cause ski loss.) I've tried move and fast move, but my troops inevitably take fire in the middle of a snowy field and have no movement options that don't leave them exhausted. How do you make advances at all on deep snow maps for normal troops or ski troops who decide they don't want to ski anymore? Thanks, Dr. Rosenrosen
  2. Thanks! I really have read the manual. But this forum is so good that it's actually quicker to post here. I'll be a good boy in the future, though. Dr. Rosenrosen
  3. I'm attempting to design some QB maps by generating large random maps and cropping them to get the most interesting part. However, I can only crop the north and east sides (by adjusting the overall size of the map). Anyone know of a way to crop from any side, in case I want to get the center of the map as the cool part? Thanks, Dr. Rosenrosen
  4. Hi all, Has anyone else noticed that when you use "random" for terrain type, tree coverage, etc. on a PBEM game, the player who didn't start the game (PlayerB) gets to see the resolution of these random settings before buying troops. There is an info screen that displays the true settings when PlayerB opens the first email. But the person who started the game (PlayerA) must buy troops before knowing whether the terrain will be a treeless plain or a foresty village. I think this gives PlayerB a huge advantage. Is there anyway to fix this? Whom do we petition to get this resolved in the patch? The fix can go either way. Either both sides should know the resolution of the random setting, or neither should. Thanks, Dr. Rosenrosen
  5. Hi gang, After lots of CMBO experience, I just got CMBB a week ago. I can't figure out those crazy Russians. With all of their tank and infantry liabilities (lowered rank, command issues, overall tank quality, major artillery disadvantages, etc...), there must be some compensating advantages over the Germans to keep the game balanced. But I can't figure it out! So why would I ever choose to play as the Russians instead of the Germans? In CMBO the axis and allies had different strengths and weaknesses. The Germans had better defensive options (fortifications), a wider variety of infantry, and some truly powerful and resilient tanks. The Allies sacrificed this raw power for nimbleness and speed. I was anticipating that the Russian troops would be significantly cheaper, so that I would have lots of cannon fodder to throw at my enemy (a la the representation of Stalingrad in "Enemy at the Gates"). But infantry units with little to no anti-tank ability are just about as pricey as the more effective German infantry. Please share insight on why I should play the Russians, along with some useful tips for playing them effectively. Dr. Rosenrosen
