  1. That's all that's really stayed my hand on purchasing an LCD display - the fact that I'm also a total FPS nut. If I could get an LCD that gave the kind of performance my CRT provides (like 100Hz @ 1024x768 and 85Hz @ 1280x1024), and didn't cost more than the computer itself, I'd definitely buy one.

The prices are coming down, but the really good ones are still rather pricy if you play shooters. It's only a matter of time before the cathode-ray tube goes the way of the dot-matrix printer...

  2. Thanks for the reminder!

I'd be glad to make a donation because I have gotten a lot of useful files fromt eh site and it's been a great resource!

But I'd like to point out to Columbus OH Gamer that the "Make a Donation" button on his site does not work at the moment. Please fix or do somefink! smile.gif

Soon as it's working, I'd be glad to make a donation to help keep CMMD in operation!

All I said was that I am having a problem downloading from TCMHQ, and that the aforementioned remedy was not working. Never mentioned you, so please take your guilty conscience elsewhere. We're not the ones who need to "get over it", it seems...

Perhaps if you approached your problems in a more positive fashion, you wouldn't feel like they are coming back to haunt you when someone else has a similar situation.

Sorry to provoke flashbacks for you - all I wanted was to be able to download some mods.

  4. For those having trouble downloading from Tom's site, try this.

If you are using Internet Explorer

1.) Go to the Tools menu, then click on the Internet Options... menu item.

2.) On the Internet Options dialog box, click on the Advanced tab.

3.) Now scroll through the list and make sure the following items are set as listed:

    - Enabled Folder view for FTP sites (unchecked)

    - Use Passive FTP (checked)

    - Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections (checked)

4.) Now go to the General Tab and click on the Delete Files... button. Then click on the Clear History button.

    5.) Close Internet Explorer.

6.) Now start Internet Explorer again, go to Tom's site and try downloading.

Hopefully this works for others as it worked for me. I was getting the "Anonymous access denied" (or somefink) error as well. After changing Internet Explorer to these settings, it works fine now.

    BTW, I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1.

EDIT: It doesn't always work the first time. If you still get the message, keep clicking the link. Eventually it will work. I'm not even sure now that the above setting changes make a difference but they can't hurt. Strange indeed.

Well, I've tried this, and no joy.

I know I've gotten through before because I downloaded some "super skin packs" from the site.

I just wish I could get through! It's not just Tom's site - it also seems to happen on Combat Mission Times and only when it's an FTP download.

  5. I'm having problems downloading anything from ftp sites (particularly Tom's Combat Mission HQ, but others as well).

Any time I try to do so, I get a page that says "Action Cancelled" or "Page cannot be found".

I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 with service pack 1 on Windows XP Home Edition. I am not using any kind of download accelerator, and I have tried at various times over several days - no luck.

I did a search on this forum and found a post that told me to check/uncheck certain buttons in my Internet Options/Advanced tab, but that didn't prove fruitful.

I'd appreciate any help on how to get this working - am I the only one who is having this problem? And why are we still using a 30 year old protocol to transfer files?

  6. Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find the updated Sinpoet unit portraits that have the BoB faces as well?

Combat Mission HQ only has the older mod, and every time I try Tom's Combat Mission HQ it won't let me download it at all! (I am not using a download accelerator or anything). I can download most other mods from that site just fine.

I didn't see it on the CM mod database, either. If anyone can point me to a working link I'd be most obliged.

  7. I noticed something that may be a bug in one of the Scenario's - "A Morning Commute".

The factory/warehouse that is the objective - should two of the walls really be missing, or is this some kind of texture bug?

I am using the RealColor mod and Juju's Factory mod so it may be something on my end - but is anyone else experiencing this?

Note that restoring the default CMBB textures for the factory did not appear to solve the issue. Any suggestions?

  8. I'd be curious to know if there are any copmpatibility problems if one were to install the CDV version over a US copy.

I ask because Adernaline Vault has the CDV patch listed but didn't mention it's for the European version. I notified the president of AVault - if nothing else it will save them some bandwidth - but if there is a conflict I'd like to make him aware of it.
