  1. OK, I've seen the remarks about how (especially) the UK can build experience for its air units by bombing harbours and units/resources in Western Europe before D-day. I've tried this, but it seems a losing proposition: the air unit (fleet or bomber) will get some xp from this, but will also now and again suffer losses from AA (leaving aside possible interceptions for the time being) Rebuilding the unit costs significantly more than the damage inflicted and will also wipe out the xp. What am I doing wrong?
  2. COS: taking fortresses (eg Leningrad). Apart from massing the max amount of combat factors and the para's, there are a few other assets to use: - Naval bombardment: will probably not kill strength point, but might affect morale - Idem with Air: just keep attacking, despite the fact that the Air unit will lose strenght and not the defender. The defender *will* lose morale. - Keep one or more Panzers behind the first line of attackers. After the 'combined' attack, move the Army/ Army group back and have the Panzers perform the 'single' attacks; despite low odds. Basically, the way to overcome the defender in a frtress is not to destroy all the strength points, but to make the unit fail a morale check (leading to retreat or dissolve). That's where the air and naval units are useful. The panzer low-odds attacks are to create new morale checks on the defender. von Schmidt
  3. Yeah, bought my copy via Battlefront as well. Recently I ran into SC at Game (UK software shop); part of the 2 games for £30 deal. What a steal! Especially since the other games in that range included the truly superb Galactic Civilisations. If you are an UK wargamer there is really no excuse left not to own SC (and Galciv! End of plug). Nicer front picture as well; D-Day instead of marching pig-nazi's. von Schmidt
  4. I have seen the extra loss effect as well. Increased losses after operating or creation seems quite realistic to me; the unit in question has not had the time to deploy properly. it might be a bug or unintended effect, but it definitely worth keeping. von Schmidt
