Big fights are like wading through gruel, slow stodgy and cloying !
Give me a small fast-moving scrap anytime where I'm on intimate first-name terms with each of my units! Don't just take my word for it:- "we few,we happy few, we band of brothers..."(Henry V)
Can anybody beat this one uttered by Richard Widmark in a Pacific War film to commander of a flamethrowing tank ?---"SPRAY THE WHOLE HILL,ITS LOUSY WITH JAPS !"
My Daimlers 2-pounder killed a Panther through the side armor at about 60 yards range in CMBO once after about 15 ricochets (Panther couldnt depress its gun enough to nail the Daimler).
THINK SMALL BATTLES ! A fast-moving 500/600-pointer on a small map gives you a much more intimate " band of brothers " rapport with your units , whereas big slow battles are like wading through gruel !
