Ive never had a problem with Steam, purchased both Red Orchestra and HL2! No hassle, no problems...

Hmmm this is the old Intro movie....
Midi style music and a bit boring imo, the word 'safe' comes to mind.
Where's the intensity of battle, the suspense..the danger?
-
Hmmm interesting, I thought the demographic here would be younger! Im in good company then.
Im 39 and enjoy all elements of Military History, so wargaming was a natural progression for me back in my youth. I really really enjoy MPing, whether Turn-based or Realtime. I am hoping to achieve with TOW the same buzz I got from my first Close Combat MP sessions back in the 90's.
TOW I think (not played it yet) may offer the right combination of Realism and Gameplay in my opinion. I am tired of all these eyecandy games, that promise much but give little...I want a game that both challenges me and makes me smile. I want to, after a session of TOW gaming, to sit back with a sigh and say "that was intense!"
Status: MP Opponent, always available!

I was not whining.....
I was merely giving ideas on how dev's or modders may get around the problem. I too have ordered the game and I WILL ENJOY IT TOO. I personally fall into the wait till TOW2 camp, but I also enjoy the freedom of speech this forum allows for all ideas. Stiffle that and this forum dies.
my pounds worth!

As a bridge gap, as you say buidings could in essence be bunkers. You assign a squad or individual to enter the building and the structure then becomes a hardpoint with fields of fire. The more storey's add hit bonuses to take into consideration elevation. Its not ideal but its better than nothing...

So are these names hardcoded... or can we add our own? I say this because I've seen the strangest British names ever!!! lol

Moon is pretty good at responding to threads...be patient.

I agree.... its all speculation atm. Wait for the DEMO then post.
Too late for me, as I've pre-ordered regardless

Excellent response to SI Martin. With previewers like this who needs enemies....
Very unprofessional of them.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I've just come across this less than positive preview.
*It does state that its a preview build. So I hope the problems highlighted have been addressed
Theatre of War is not pushing the next-gen envelope by any means in terms of graphics or even physics for that matter. So I found it odd that it took so long to load up a fairly contained map. Also while ducking it out, I found the camera would not lock itself to the lowest position possible. I was constantly scrolling the mouse wheel to get a good look at the action. Finally, the AI of the game acted less than stellar. Many times when I would order my troops to enter a vehicle they would run around not sure what to do. This also overflowed into other areas like attacking certain units as well as firing at the correct target. Can one win a war when his or her troops don’t listen? Not really.
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/theatreofwar/preview.htmlIn terms of audio Theatre of War is very generic. The explosions sound like ones we’ve heard a million times before and the battle music in very plain. It still does its job though. Oddly though it reminded me of Final Fantasy 12’s musical score. -
I hope all the sound effects are volume controllable, the tanks firing seemed awfully quiet!

Nice, thanks.....

Positive preview....
I love this statement: Theatre of War looks to be a serious contender for the best real time strategy wargame ever created. It is polished, realistic and certainly going to be a challenge for anyone who enjoys the genre.
*I do agree, and thought some time ago the comments about, map size, no entering buildings and sparse trees will be a bone of contention. Patched or TOW2 perhaps?

Not if potential MP players such as myself give their MSN messenger details out in a 'Opponent wanted' section. Stating timezome and details in a post will really help locate opposition quickly..
-
When you say Coop do you mean against the AI?
-
Interesting thanks!

I am sure if this game is successful, patches even expansions may all add new maps. I dare say that some dormant genius will come up with new maps.
-
Unless of course like me you toggle them off..

Expect a busy (slow) server that day...

The forum is here to criticise as well as praise. I am sure the Dev's appreciate both in moderation. I for sure dont want to see a fluffy, happy forum...where love reigns supreme.
As DeLaVega says alot of us have been waiting for this game for 5 years, the Trailer is well old hat so to speak, and if I may....dated!
