Someone should tell MG that his playing of CMBB may lead to him going blind (To say nothing of hairy palms)
Still its nice to have someone around to say what we feel, a bit like a vents dummy. Now someone give him a gottle of geer and he may go back to his own thread.

My vote goes for a Gamegear port. Then I could play it on a 2" screen on the way to and from work. Hey better still my mobile phone has a screen then we could all play TCP/IP games on the move.

Sorry but I cant help but feel that such a matter is in need of a BUMP. If the rest of you disagree then please feel free to let it sink again

Dont forget that you can get a copy of the full manual from Battlefront for the cost of sending them your existing manual cover and a nominal fee to cover Post and Packing.

Please accept my humble apologies for not having read further than my own nose.
Keep up the good work and one day I will advance further than the steam driven modem and be able to use your site to download in less than a few hours

This has been raised here in
No comment from the host yet but as he runs it gratis we should not expect him to be at our call. I am sure he will come back to this soon.

Popups I can cope with, I have even followed a few but repeated spawning ones and adult to boot seems a bit extreem. I would also suggest that it does not match the demographics of the site visitors.Originally posted by Michael emrys:I guess all that bandwidth has to get paid for somehow, but I sure feel your pain. Pop-ups are overtaking spam as the bane of the internet.

AAARGH it gets worse. Not only does this popup a new ad every couple of mins it also does it even AFTER the browser with the site has been closed AND the spawning process refused to be shut down AND most of the popups were for ADULT sites, not what I want to appear at work.
I know that the site needs to generate an income but PLEASE not like this.

In reading these posts a couple of points come to mind.
When CMBB was released there was considerable wailing about the removal of SS runes from the European version. The grounds for this were historical accuracy and censorship. There has been a mod produced that rolls back these changes. It is my current opinion that if the inclusion of these symbolic markings does not cause offence then the inclusion of a historic scenario should not either.
My second point leads on from the first. We are all here because we enjoy playing a simulation of war. War is not clean and sterile as other members of this community can vouch. By playing this game we have all rationalized the ethics of playing a game that is about the killing of humans. If we are capable of such rationalizations it is my opinion that we are capable of drawing our own ethical line in the sand about which scenarios we do or don’t want to play. I appreciate that ArmdChair and Leutnant Hortlund believe it steps over their line and I believe that opinion should be respected.

I regret that my knowledge of the uprising is insufficient to form a well informed opinion. However I wish to applaud Rune and the other informed contributors for seeking and joining such a debate.
It has restored my faith in the intelligence of this board's membership, which after some of the recent posts had taken a knocking.
I am looking forward to reading the well argued points.

Nothing to do with the FAQ but I came accross this and didnt know where to put it (answers on a post card)

Oh dear! Hasn't this been done before Here And here and in passing in a number of other places.
I regret that my brain imploded before I could read it all but I do recall that the friendly edge of the map does carry weight when units decide where to run and that BFC et al have concluded that the fundamental algorithms are as good as they can get given the current game engine and the lack of a unit's memory.

There may be 2 versions of the CDV Patch out. Their web site went down for a short while and it was then reported thet the patch files had different version numbers. The runes may have been removed by now.Originally posted by ColdSober:Patched the CDV version myself a couple of days ago, and was surprised to see that some of the SS runes had reappeared, at least in the scenarios list. Haven't checked yet to see if they're in-game, too. Thought this was illegal, not that I'm complaining!

This may be heading towards a return to the great shoch wave debate. Back in CMBO explosions had a shock wave bubble. This was removed in CMBB for added realism. There has been considerable debate on the pros and cons of this and I believe that there is a MOD out there that will put them back. I know its not a nice graphical dust animation but it might go some way to achieving what you want. With the dust idea there would be added complications as the existance of such dust would be dependant on the ground conditions.
Just my 2c worth

Ok so why is everyone in the office looking at me? Just because I blew coffee out of my nose laughing at this.
-
Now that some of the dust has settled could you add a section on the Patch; what it does and where to get it.
Oh and by the way ****BUMP******

Whilst I agree with some of your sentiment, CDV have one achievement, they have got the product into the shops and from there into peoples homes. I have even seen CMBB appearing on some software charts! All this means more sales = more revenue for BFC = more incentive to carry on the good work and produce patches and more importantly CM 3 with the engine rewrite.Originally posted by Lou2000:Snip...

....and CDV's general lack of enthusiasm for what is arguably the best game they have ever been associated with ...... i'll never buy a CDV released game again !
MINOR RANT OVER!

For that reason and that alone I am willing to "accept" their involvment with our beloved game.

BEST game of ALL TIME?
Sod it for a lark, what the heck are you lot blathering on about?
[snip]
Nosirreee, CMBO and CMBB are not the best games of all time -- not even close. Steve and Charles and the rest of the little monkeys better get back in their little huts and start figuring out how to make the best bleedin' game of all time and not come out until they do.
Sheesh. You people got no concept of the future.
Steve
So will we have to wait 7.5 Million years for it?

Bumping my way up to "Member" Status. I feel like I should start getting loyalty points. Maybe I could cash them in for a CD of the patch to spare my poor 56K Modem.

IIRC it was to do with the CDV patch including a number of textures, graphics etc which had to be left out due to the CDV version having to go gold earlier than the BFC version to allow for translations and a greater production lead in time.Originally posted by Soddball:Incidentally, if the US patch is 25MB, then (pardon my french) what the flying **** is the CDV patch coming in at 68MB for?

I definitely remember a post on this PBEM file size issue, but do you think I can find it.
The thread died when the poster sent the file to Madmatt who promised to look into it.
