  3. does time also have a factor? cause it seemed after mid '42 i got atleast one upgrade every turn... by mid '41 i had 10 chits ... late '42 russia was beaten... i had lik 20 armies and 5 corps and 10 armor... then late '43 UK joined the pyre... then USA fell victim to my wrath and i won by mid '44... but up to mid '42 i got one upgrade with 10 chits
  4. Sol, I agree, least amount of mastakes along with the most productivity usley wins the day. and since the americans didnt try to "finnese" the war to death (although there were instances of them doing it) they made fewer mistakes. also the americans simple plan was the best, more complex plans are harder to pull off.
  5. the axis in the '39 campiagin cant take Norway before france... its impossible if u try it ties upto many resources and when u do attack france there well fortifed... I think there should be a quisling act where norway goes over to the axis
  6. i like it, but since i have to wipe out pole it diverts my time table
  7. if u have 5 chits on say tanks, will that mean in 4 turns u will advance or could u never advance do to never getting that 25% (luck) and having it say u advanced?
  8. why when u take warsaw on turn one doesnt poland surrender? in fact ive found they dont surender till there armies are destryoed... this cause me some dismay as it messess with my time table instead of 1 week i spend 2-3 weeks time i could use to transver units towards france and hit them in late '39
  9. My source is the book he wrote called Panzer leader. u can pick it up at any descent store.
  10. new topic, about the german BB's 2 were obsolete used for training. But the tripitz and Bismark were modern BBs who could ezily out gun all but the king Geroge V class of British BB.
  11. Norse, there is no way that the germans had 50 combat ships. Im talkin DD and up. I have a book on naval history (several actually) and it listed the total amount of german DDs at 20 i think they had 9 crusiers and 2BB's (at one time) the total # of german BBs was 9 but they never had them at one time. And 5 of those BBs were Pocket Battleships meaning they were smaller but had the same armerment as a normal BB, comparable to a BC but more armored [ July 31, 2002, 11:58 AM: Message edited by: TrionDelta ]
  12. thats not exactly true he command army group center during the russian campaing and later in the war he commanded another attack in russia. Also in the 30's he was only at the rank of col. and commanded a brigade
  13. I was looking through the list of german Generals. And to my dismay i didnt find the one german General who deserved to be there the most... Heinz Guderian. In my opinion the leading cause of early german success. Mainly beacuse of his iniuative the germans had realtivley good armor at the out set along with "modern" tactics. By the end of the war Guderian had fought in france, and russia to name a few places and had become "Chief" of the generaling staff, although hitler wanted control for himself. Mayb if hitler hadnt been such a psychopathic control freak Guderain might have been able to atain a favorable peace.
  14. i thought that finland joined the Axis powers in '39 to prevent the russians from destroying them B/c of the Nap the germans had with russia. so shopuldnt Finland start as an axis Minor??
  15. Husky, ive heard from many sources on the history channle, Books etc. that the germans had the ability to destroy the allied landings on D-Day. An SS officer had drawn up the plans to send his Panzers in action, though he couldnt move w/o hitlers ok and no one would wake him in Berchesgarten(dont know how to spell it). This has been stated by many ppl including Eisenhower and his Aide. also not all of the Divisons were understrength before D-Day a crack SS divison had been transfered from the russian front and they were near full strength.
  16. posted July 24, 2002 09:34 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a myth, its fact, we swamped them, in the air, on land and at sea - the bomber offensive was just attritional warfare (BC aircrew had less chance of surviving the war than WW1 Tommies did), the 8th AF was used as clay pigeons to draw the luftwaffe up to be attrited by 'escorting' fighters (whose orders were to hunt the Luftwaffe, not protect the bombers). ______________________________________________ what u dont realise is that B-17 crewa acounted for 2/3 of all german fighters shot down, "escorts" didnt reach germany till '44 i belive mayb late '43. this was stated on a history channle specail on the best bomber of all time
  17. in the demo i have no problems with Italy. After the fall of fracne i surrond Athens by amphib ops, and take it in one turn they get between 390-400 mpps for it,with it i buy a HQ. then i usley declare war on Vichy having germans take Vichy then algiers with the Italins. so the get Vichy giving them Exsess of 200 mpps per turn, Demo ends with me attacking the brits in NA with 4 armies 2 corp And an HQ, plus most of the IT navy. With the edisson of a strat bomber and air fleet, or a carrier
