  1. I said this earlier in the forum, I have had customers who are wargamers {and some who are not} really get into the game{ which like I said , I have CMBO full game on 1 machine, and CMBB demo on a 2nd one} They really like it, graphics, Tanks, all of it, heck I have even built faster machines for a few of my customers so they can play the game,{My thanks to Battlefront}Oh yeah and Steve {not to get off the subject}my uncle owns a tank, a old stewart,{guns deactivated}, it runs like a tractor, stick with the sports car,{hehheh}

  2. I must say that is a darn close P-38, anyway it looks almost like a P-38 I have in my collection,the one I own was made in 1943 made by walther. Also the Bren is a copy of a chek machine gun and yes the British bought a batch of chek MGs and used them for a while on thier tanks, I also have a Bren MK1,non firing per BATF {yeah right, HEh HEh}

  3. To each his own I guess, some folks like sudden strike and the like, I like it sometimes depending on what mood I'm in, I also like Talonsofts Europe in Flames, and it is totally turned base, just depends on the mood I'm in. The thing I like the most about Combat Mission is it combines the two, gives you more control over your troops,great game. It would be nice if more then two players could play it on line,{ you know team typr action} but you can't have everything

  4. I remeber when the squad leader board game came out, I bought it while in europe for 5$, and playing combat sims ever since. My point is that my comming up in combat sims since then {board games to puter games}I have found that CM is, {be it I'm just a junior member and all}a very close to reality combat sim. I served in the military {armored} and thank you I will pass on the blown up bodies,{seen enough of those}and the weapons ablities are pretty darn close,{also remembering that you can only program so much with todays technology}, all in all this CM game { be it CMBO or CMBB}is a god send to the old farts like me as far a realisim and game play go,{and price}my thanks to the developers,{the actual ones, not the ones I've noticed who act like they are}and I hope that there will be expansions to this great game, you have my money

  5. Well as far as getting respect, I have found that there are people who have really helped me out and there are those who think, well thier crap does'nt stink!! I think it is a great game, that's right a GAME and that's it, if these people think that they have to have everyone bend over and kiss thier behinds all I can say is get a REAL LIFE, and to all those people that have helped people out like me, THANK YOU, you guys are great.

  6. You need to check that last note Dirctx is independent BUT is also required AND should be reinstalled after installing vid card drivers, I know this for a fact due to the fact that many people have been well lets say "misdirected" by many a tech,who have made a lot of money off of customers who come in and say "my games just don't work right" {mainly due to the fact they have installed vid cards and did not reinstall the directx drivers a simple thing}and are told that it could be all kinds of other things instead, don't fall prey to these types of computer repairmen start with the easy things first and work your way up

  7. Well schul has a good point, but one question, I have put in many nivida 128 chipset based cards in to many machines with windows 98se on them these machines had various shipsets never had any serious probs with them and I have also done the same with XP. This vid card, did it come out of your old machine, if so has it been checked?? {not to disrepect your tech} most of the time if a tech is worth his salt he should have checked it for damage, the card should at least at even the oldest driver install should find the resolutions available to you in the settings, if your puter fried, it might have damaged your vid card

  8. When ytou reinstall windows on your PC are you starting from scratch {clean hard drive}You know starting with a boot disc and Fdisk the drive{deleting old partions then creating new ones}Then formatting the drive format c:/s with the problems you are having this is what I would do, this will give you a clean install and also let you know if the is any bad spots on your hard drive had the same thing happen to a customer of mine, {he tried all the quick fixes}after I did this he has'nt had any more probs.
