  1. Will there be a timer option in making turns for TCP/IP games?
  2. Well I tried the strategy of sending the Canadian army to Palermo and a British corp to Bari. Guess what? The Axis AI redeployed armies in Palermo and Bari. The Italian fleet then proceeded to sink both transports. Walla, this strategy doesn't work 100% of the time. I think Hubert did a good job of programming changes to the Axis AI strategy. Perhaps there are other surprises that the Axis or Allies AI may sprung on a human player.
  3. Playing the Allied side, my consideration for invading Turkey is to open a third front and to relieve pressure on the Soviets. I am bogged down in Italy and my other options are to declare war against Greece or Spain. By the way, the Axis AI allowed the Italians to capture Paris and earned about 900 mpps. I would guess this Axis strategy was due to my capture of Palermo and Bari right after Italy declared war. I eventually withdrew from Taranto after taking horrendous losses but Palermo held out only because the Soviets declared war. Oh well.
  4. Has anyone invaded Turkey as the Axis or the Allies? What are the benefits of such a strategy for either sides?
  5. Has anyone played a campaign with the Allies (Brits) invading Iraq? If I choose to invade, will the Germans or Italians units suddenly appear in Iraq? The advantage of invading Iraq is the possibility of shifting British forces in the Mediterranean especially airpower to help the Soviets out in 1942. Any advice would be appreciated.
  6. Here is an update to my campaign. Withdrawing your surviving Polish ground units on Turn 1 to the Soviet border did have negative consequences for the Axis AI. First and foremost, the AI had to garrison the conquered areas thus limiting the forces available to strike France. Second, the plunder for conquering Poland was not available until April 1940 time frame when Poland capitulated and the Soviets annexed their share of the spoils. Third, the Axis AI started battering the Maginot line to no avail. Then Italy entered the war and the Axis AI used Italy as the springboard for a France invasion. Other than a corp unit in the port city of Marseille, there was nothing to stop the Axis juggernaut. France eventually falls in the late 1940 but the British had enough time to build up its research capabilities. Well, I thought, I had the upper hand and decided to kick the Italians out of North Africa. The Italian fleet was destroyed a long time ago. I gambled on using the Gibraltar corp to the campaign and leaving that valuable real estate undefended. To my chagrin, the Axis AI landed in Gibraltar. So I guess the AI is not so stupid or dumb after all.
  7. You damn right, generally speaking women are the stronger sex. If the decision making during this period were to have been controlled by women, there wouldn't be any war. The women would have ended it and tell the men to go back to work. MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR. LOL.
  8. If the other side strength is air power, can that strength be neutralized by increasing research in anti-aircraft radar?
  9. I guess only a woman can pull out an Allied victory in 1940. LOL!
  10. I guess the best Allied strategy is to pull your lone Polish air unit to the Soviet border and 3 Polish ground units to the Soviet border. Then the computer axis shifts all of its armies to the west. Walla, the Poles come out of nowhere and liberate Warsaw and on to Berlin. The Allies can beat the Germans in 1940.
  11. After upgrading to Patch 1.04, I started a 1939 campaign playing on the Allied side. I noticed that after Warsaw is taken, the computer Axis doesn't search and destroy surviving Polish units adjacent to the Soviet border. Consequently, Eastern Poland is not occupied by the Soviet Union. I am now in early 1940 and the Polish units are still there. Is this an oversight or a bug?
  12. Can anyone comment about my experience about headquarter unit? Playing as the Allies, I surrounded the Rommel HQ unit and pounded it to 2 strength points. On the next turn, this unit was able to reinforce itself to 8 strength points. Is this a bug? How could a surrounded unit reinforce itself? Amy
  13. Porkbrain, can you please send Patch 1.02 to me. Here is my email address: aemilius@optonline.net Thanks, Amy.
  14. To play the Clash of Steel Future Edition, you need the manual to answer the password. Where can you get the manual. Thanks.
  15. Daamion, where do you get the VDMSound file? Also, can anyone guide me to the website where I can download a file to slow down the CPU in my bot. Thanks for your help whoever that may be.
  16. Thanks guys for your help. Even with the shortcomings, I will still buy this game when it comes out this year.
  17. Can anyone share their experience on how to get COS Future Edition to work on Windows ME? I get a runtime error everytime I start COS.
  18. Can you provide the web site for JP's Panzer bulletin board? I have never heard of this website. Thanks.
  19. Is PBEM replay more important than TCP/IP. From an economic standpoint, TCP/IP is more important because it will generate more sales for this game than PBEM replay. I for one will recommend this game to my friends only when the TCP/IP option is available. Nowadays, if you want a challenging game, play against a human rather than the AI.
  20. An advantage the Allies possessed during WW2 was their knowledge of German plans obtained through spy rings and code intercepts. Would it be too great a programming job to create an intelligence feature in this game. For example, for a price such as 200 MPPs, the other side can obtain the enemy dispositions? Some would suggest, turn off the fog of war but it would not be the same. Also, has anyone played the Age of Empire series? I loved the multiplayer mode and would suggest to the creator of Strategic Command to consider adopting features that lend i. For example, AOE allows one side to send aid to an ally. For example, the Germans can send military aid to Italy, say 500 MPPs. With this aid, Italy can purchase a tank unit using German equipment. Can you imagine an Italian tank unit made up of Tigers instead of the Fiat coffins. They would not be pushovers. Anyway, if someone can convert the Age of Empire engine to a wargaming, the potential would be enormous. Comments from anyone?
  21. Would more than two players be able to play Strategic Command by PBEM? What about online play? For example, two players can represent the Axis powers, Germany and Italy, while three can play for the Allied side, Britain/France, USA, and Russia. What are the developer's plans regarding online and PBEM for Strategic Command. P.S. In Clash of Steel, multiple land units could attack a lone enemy unit. Can this option be made available in Strategic Command?
