  1. I think the western allies made their dumbest mistake in setting an allience with the russians. General Patton said it best: We are fighting the wrong enemy..." He saw the cold war beforehand. As should have any intelligent officer by that date. Russians were as keen (if not more so) to rule over Europe as were the Germans. So counting the allied without includind russians is a very valid thought. England and the US actually were pro-finns when russia covardly attackecked Finland. <<<<<<fortunately the Finns held their ground and were the only nation in addition to UK and the soviet union in WWII Europe , whose capital was never garrisoned by foreign troops.
  2. I hate to bother you fellas all so familiar with WWII Mediterranian battles. I´m an old fart, as many of you more experienced lot on BF.com know by allready. I just came back from a diving trip to Corfu (occupied by the Italians, Germans and The Brittish in WWII). It would be nice to get some scenarios depicting German garrisons lured in the relaxed island life being threatened with an allied invasion in the game. Just my two cents Doc Finnish Navy Officer of the reserves M.D.Ph.D Helsinki, Finland

  4. Hello Special Boat Squdron (SBS) shares a common history and several historical members with the SAS. SBS was active in Mediterranean and far east. The Boom Patrol Detachment conducted limpet raids on Klepper canoes in coastal France and surveyed the beach landings (together with USN) prior to D-day. X-boat (midget submarines) crews and charioteers (a chariot is a ridable torpedo) made heroic attacks on enemy ships. Most wel known is propably the X-boat attack on Tirpitz in Norway. Italians were particularly inventive with chariots and sunk several british ships in Alexandria and Gibraltar. Skorzeny and his airborne commandos certainly count as special forces. Especially their daring raid to free the imprisonned Mussolini. These came to my mind. Doc
  5. Bought the english language version of CMBB (CDV distributed) here in Finland. Everything was fine until I downloaded the patch. Now everything is in german! I even had to move all the files from "scenarios" to a new "szenarios" folder the patch created. The patch had no optional language either in download or while patching the game? Any help? Doc
  6. Thank you Schrullenhaft. I see the initial splash screen with two buttons. There it prompts me to insert CD. I´ m running Win98 with all service packs installed. I got the same problem whether or not I patch the game. (Without the patch I don´t get to see the splash screen though.) Here in Finland a software import company bought a batch of Combat Mission so I bought it from a store. They must have an older than 1.12 version. I try the new 4in1s. Hopefully they do the trick. I´m pretty frustrated with this computer BS already. Keep those suggestions coming and I´ll keep trying! Thanks. Doc
  7. I tried it first without the patch. Didn´t work. Doc
  8. Hello everyone. I bought and installed the game after enjoying the demo. Trying to run it resulted in a black screen and back to desktop. Same with my both CD drives at that moment (Hewlett Packard CDRW and Mitsumi CDROM). I reinstalled, same problem. I then patched the game to version 1.12. The game starts, but orders me to insert the CD (which is in the drive and readable in Windows). Otherwise it will only run in multiplayer. After many attempts to remedy this (copying the whole disk to drive D and installing to drive C etc...) I went and bought a new CDRW drive, LG 32x 10x 40x. The damn thing still does not recognize the CD! Then I made a backup of the original. That won´t run either. Do I have a defective CD? Any more suggestions what I could try? All help greatly appreciated! Doc My system: Athlon T-bird 1 Ghz 512 RAM Abit KT7RAID MB Geforce 2 GTS C drive 16,7 G D drive 90 G RAID 0 (2 x IBM 45G) Sounblaster Live Gold
